ACTION | GENESSIA PARK

[Terrance can be found in the center of the park with a lot of expensive looking equipment scattered around him. He has a laptop on his right with a few cords hooking from that to a naked motherboard sitting on the grass in front of him. Next to that is a system that looks like it needs a case around it. There are wires and electrical hazards sticking out in all directions.

His fingers click swiftly across his keyboard before running the program that he had created for his thesis. There were a few sparks that weren't suppose to be there and Terrance quickly closes the program and begins fiddling with system to his left. He places his screwdriver between his lips as he pulls a few other tools from his backpack.]

Bloody fucking machine. [He mumbles the words while keeping the screwdriver between his lips.

It isn't the same set up he had before but this will work. As soon as he stops it from over heating and sparking.]

ACTION | CLOSED TO TONY

[There are a few things he isn't interested in. One of those things is explaining to Tony why he has a bloody lip. He slips into the familiar mechanic room which is where he's been moonlighting as a mechanic. He's also been stealing a few trash pieces of equipment and re-purposing them into something else.

He takes a seat in the corner and pulls his laptop from his backpack. He turns on the familiar bright screen and begins to work on the system already set up in front of him. The stuff he's working on for Tony is cool and not to hard, just time consuming.

For now he's going to ignore Tony and hope that Tony ignores him.]

*Sonico's slowly getting more used to the city in which she lives, but she figured she should go have a look at the park now that she was a bit more settled. So here she is, sauntering around in shorts and a tshirt with an ice cream in her hand.

Then she spies sparks just a little distance away and, concerned, starts to walk towards them. That's when all the random equipment comes into view, and then, at the middle, Terrance.

Curious now, Sonico heads straight over and pauses just in front of him, leaning down and smiling, amused*

Building robots, Terrance?

[Terra keeps his dark hazel gaze on the machine in front of him. He drops the screw driver from his lips and reply to Sonico while his fingers carefully twist the small Philips head pinched between his fingers.]

That's my part-time job, this is something else and it's all mucked up thanks to the bloody resisters.

[He pauses his work and looks up, only then realizing that he'd been spoken to and had replied. He'd been too focused on his work to realize that he'd automatically reply and now he feels awkward.]

You catching flies?

[He points his tool towards her ice cream before turning back to the mechanical system in front of him.]

*Sonico watches him as he works, not understanding what he's doing but being curious anyway*

"The bloody resisters?"

*His reply question makes her suddenly remember her ice cream cone, which is gradually starting to melt. Quickly, to make sure that it doesn't drip on his machine, Sonico licks the ice cream to keep it safe*

Not catching flies - that isn't my part time job. I'm just enjoying the sun.

*Sonico continues to lean down in front of him, ice cream being held out the way*

So what's this 'something else', or is it top secret?

Catching flies is a saying for staying with your mouth open.

[He keeps his eyes on his work and carefully loosens the resistor. He needs to replace it with a 35 ohm resister which luckily he has with him.]

I'm creating a system that can map the life force of the planet. We can see the pulse and watch it bleed.

*Sonico was still standing there with her mouth open, but she shut it very quickly. She continues to just watch as he fiddles with the machine, finishing off the last of her ice cream*

But...why? How does it help?

[ Tony actually didn't look up from what he was doing for the first twenty minutes or so. Terrance was the type of person that didn't require an immediate greeting, so he didn't always get one. It wasn't with the intention of being rude or dismissive. There were times where they could communicate without words or didn't need to communicate at all, and that was fine.

Sometimes, anyway.

Other times silence would get under Tony's skin because that was always the perfect time for unpleasant thoughts to slip their way into his consciousness. Eventually he put his tools down and exhaled. ]

I'm putting music on. Preference?

[ For the first time since he'd shown up Tony turned to look at him. The knocked up lip was a little hard to miss, but he moved a bit closer to inspect it. ]

The hell happened to you?

Do you know how much the production of your clothing, that ice cream, kills the planet?

[He continues to work as he speaks.]

People won't believe it unless they see it and I'm going to show them.

[Terrance is okay with silence. Silence means that he can work and he doesn't need to bother attempting to hold a conversation. Not that his short replies and sarcastic attitude really does anything to deter Tony from talking to him. If anything his attitude has slowly begun to dwindle away merely because Terrance gets tired talking to Tony and doesn't think it's worth putting in the effort.]

Nope.

[He doesn't listen to music and he doesn't care. It isn't like he's ever had the money to buy a CD before.]

Never seen a guy with a busted lip?

[Terrance doesn't look up from what he's working on and he hopes that Tony drops it. Except he know that he won't because its fucking Tony.]

So what do you suggest? Would you rather I had no ice cream and that I was naked?

*Said completely and utterly innocently enough as she continues to watch. Eventually, she decides to sit down on the grass in front of him, careful not to knock any of his equipment*

[Metal scrapes against metal as he fumbles the tools in his fingers. They go clattering to the grass as Terrance's attention is finally pulled away from the machine.]

What?

[He's staring at her now as if finally registering that she's standing there.]

Would I rather?

[What kind of question is that?!]

Well, you said that my ice cream and clothing was playing a part in destroying the planet...so would you rather I didn't have either?

*Oh wait...The way that he's staring at her helps her click on what she has just said and her cheeks flush a little pinker. Sonico glances away and attempts to shrug like it's all cool*

Not just me. But you too - Or-or anyone! Everyone, I mean.

[Terrance's throat dries as she continues. Does this girl realize what she's saying? They've met twice now and he's pretty sure that she doesn't know that he's Mr.Smith.]

Do you talk to everyone about getting naked?

[He is trying very hard not to get flustered but she's slowly breaking down his usual guards.]

Huh? Oh!

*Oh dear, she's got herself into something really awkward here, hasn't she? Sonico plays with the hem of her shirt, looking at his shoulder rather than his face*

No, I definitely don't! That was - an accident - it's not that I'm saying that we should get naked. Or that it would be horrible if you were naked or -

*Sonico blushes and bites her lip, trying to gather her thoughts. But she knows that she's just making things worse thanks to her terrible awkwardness. So instead, she decides to take a deep breath*

So. You want to help protect the planet with this?

[Terrance is fighting the discomfort as he stares at her. He's trying very hard to keep his eyes on her face and not let them wander. From his position on the ground it's very hard.]

Sit down and stop talking before you hurt yourself.

[Or make things worse... so much worse.]

Yes, I do.

[Terrance sighs and pulls his gaze back towards the machine. He looks at the resistor he'd been trying to remove and sees the damage that her comment had caused. Fuck him... It's easier to focus on work than... Sonico. He's really not used to people. He's also not used to girls talking to him let alone talking about them naked... God fucking damn he needs to stop think about that...]

[ Tony rolled his eyes and moved back. A scoff followed immediately after and he didn't bother to hold back on his own sarcasm. ]

No, Terrance. I have no concept of what's going on right now and have never seen an injured human being.

[ He exhaled and crossed his arms loosely. Sleeping had been happening even less than usual lately and that on top of the five thousand things rattling around in his head at any given moment was making him more irritable than he intended to be. ]

Just tell me what happened.

*Completely at a loss of what she should do or say in this situation, Sonico just does as she's told and sits down in front of him, tucking her legs beneath her*

Sorry. That was...completely inappropriate...

*Still chewing her lip as she watches him, feeling like an idiot for the things that she'd said, and in front of this clever guy who was sitting making machines for fun. He certainly didn't look too happy when he examined his machine again. Still blushing, she had to do her best not to just stare at him, so she picks at some grass instead*

That's a great cause. I've been thinking about going into ecology research and conservation once I'm done with my current studies.

[Terrance turns to look at him, his eyebrow rising in an arch on his head. Tony doesn't get that bitty all the time and it isn't hard to tell that this guy needs sleep.

He pushes his work away and leans back in his seat.]

I was hit in the face with a book.

[He's just waiting for whatever the hell Tony might cook up.]

[Terrance looks over at her and stares before shaking his head and looking back at the resistor. God what's wrong with him. It's hot and sticky out without the idea of walking around naked popping into his thoughts.

It's so hard to focus.]

Alright. [He tosses his stuff down next to his back.] I'm not going to get bloody thing done now. [He's still thinking about her naked.]

What are your current studies?

[Terrance begins to put away his things starting with his laptop.]

*Sonico throws him an apologetic look as he begins to tidy his bits and pieces away*

I didn't mean to get in the way...

*But she blinks in surprise when he doesn't tell her to leave, or just get up to leave himself. Still, Sonico doesn't exactly look pleased with herself*

At the moment, marine biology. But after my bachelor degree I thought maybe I'd study more in conservation. There's a lot of things I could choose to do, I guess. How about you? You studied computers a lot in London?

I'm getting my PHD in Geology. This is my thesis work. Computers are a hobby.

[With his computer away he begins to collect loose cords and tools. He shoves them in his ragged red backpack without much ceremony.]

You don't know what you're going to do? What do you want to do?

[He's always had a goal and an idea of what he wants. He can't imagine not knowing.]

PhD?

*Sonico's eyes widened at this piece of information, and she really can't help it, but she does a much closer, slower inspection of him. Nope, he still doesn't seem all that old at all*

Wow.

*Then she looks down at his backpack instead because it's rude to stare*

I still have a couple of years of studies to go. Could be I decide to go into resources, or something more practical. Or maybe I'll keep it as a hobby and move on with something else. I like keeping my options open. Heh...

[He became a graduate student at a young age and has been working on his thesis for the last year. Being a full time student doesn't give him much time or money for anything else. It also means he'll be able to present his work sooner rather than later. Then his real work can begin.]

I'm working on it.

[He isn't there yet and those tight asses can always deny his research.]

You don't sound like you know.

[Terrance begins to unhook and take apart the machine to his left. This he slides more carefully into his backpack.]

Good for you! PhD in geology first, then saving the planet after, hmm? I like that.

*Sonico sighs very softly at his statement, admitting to herself that he was right. With his equipment packed away there is more room around them, so Sonico decides to stretch out a bit. She slowly lowers herself to lie out on her back and stare up at the sky*

My professors think I need to keep studying...My manager thinks I should make a full career out of modelling... My friends think I should try and make the band work...

Yeah...

[He suddenly feels very awkward. While, yes, he's doing what he's doing for a good reason. He doesn't always talk about it. It's easier to pretend to be cynical and prickly. He really doesn't like people but the planet is something wonderful.]

I think it'd be a waste if you stopped school. [When she mentions modeling his eyes travel slowly down her figure. She's looking at the sky so he is able to steal a few seconds before he feels like he has to look away.

With his things put away he digs into his pocket pulling out tobacco and skins. He begins to roll the dried leaf before putting away the tin of tobacco and the skins. Then he places the butt between his lips and pulls out his lighter.]

You think so?

*Still lying on her back, Sonico turns her head to face him, her expression thoughtful*

I think that's what I'd like to do most. I can still play guitar as a hobby. But I'd like to study more...Maybe teach too.

*She lapses into silence as she watches him roll his cigarette, eyes resting on his mouth*

How's the lip?
