Attention all units! This is your Ibuki Mioda speaking. And this Ibuki is in need of some answers, stat.

[Do not adjust your sets, residents of Genessia. There is indeed the face of a teenage girl just that little bit too close to the screen. Her expression is etched into the sort of serious expression that suggests she is about to ask some very important questions. Which isn't even untrue.

From a certain perspective.]

Question one: If Ibuki died like she remembers that she did and now she's awake and walking around here, does that make her zombie Ibuki? Because I've thought about it and I'm not hungering for brains right now but I've never been a zombie before so I don't know if that's an immediate thing.

Question two: Putting aside possible zombie outbreak for just a second, where can Ibuki get some cheap lemon tea? This throat is feeling a little on the rough side and how am I supposed to perform to my adoring audiences like this?

And third and final question, for the mega-jackpot and a shot at the bonus prize:

Where can I get a cheap change of clothes? This thing's a little draughty.

[Once Ibuki has secured answers to her questions three, it's time for her to do a little exploring. And despite that she doesn't have a whole lot of money right now - and it's been a while since she's even had to care about that sort of thing - there's one place that stands out to her, drawing her in like a glowing beacon.

How can the Ultimate Musician not be tempted by a little karaoke? Even if she doesn't have her trusty guitar with her.

She doesn't recognise many of the songs on the tracklist. But that's not the sort of thing to slow Ibuki down so she just waits until there's someone else looking at the track list and leaps in with a smile.]

So. Which list do I need to hit up to get a little metal sound in this place? Because whoever made this one didn't label it too well.

[Eventually, Ibuki finds a track to suit her. And that's when the Ultimate Musician gets her chance to shine. The vocals are growling, the air guitar's rocking out...of course, it's not exactly relaxing and certainly not to everyone's tastes but she's enthusiastic and loving every second of it.

She can't afford to stick around for long. But she'll be around for feedback from her adoring fans - and complaints, for those who think it necessary. She doesn't but she knows people can be funny that way...]

I'm here to serve. In respective order of your riddles:

1. No, no fears of unhallowed unlife need haunt you. You're exactly as you were were you alive from the start.

Hmm. So not a zombie. Afterlife, then? That would make sense...

[Okay so no afterlife she's heard of involves washing ashore in a pod but it's not like she's ever spoken to anyone who's actually been to an afterlife so what does she know?]

...Wait. You'd just give me clothes? Just like that? That's a pretty generous gesture in some cultures, you know?

[In a fictional culture but that's never stopped her before.]

Oh, I wouldn't say that. Genessia is far too tame to be either heaven or hell. Probably not purgatory either, if Dante's to be believed.

Certainly. I can't speak to their fitness, either of size or of aesthetic, but if you're a spendthrift then I've found much in various landfills.

Well, I don't know who this Dante is but something's got to be going on. Tame or not, there's got to be a bottom of this to get to.

[Too bad Ibuki's not likely to contribute much there.]

Seriously, though...picking through trash is a sorry state of affairs but until Ibuki can get her hands on some more reds I guess beggars can't be choosers.

[It's far from ideal but probably better than the clothes she died in. Probably.]

If you were a zombie as presented in media, it would be fairly obvious. [No pulse, decaying body, hunger for brains, ect.]

There are at least two tea shops that I am aware of. Other than those, there are cafes around. The price for something like lemon tea isn't that expensive.

You can purchase clothes with the money you are given. With proper management of it, you should be able to survive on it for a month or two.

Well that's what I thought, but then I've never met a zombie before so you know? Could've still been possible.

[And that's even assuming media presentations were accurate.

Hmm. Ibuki's never been all that great with her money but if you think new clothes won't break the bank, well, you know prices here better than I do, probably.

[Considering it doesn't sound like he just washed up.]

They do exist here. You will find them in the city called Everglade. [Though everyone has been warned that that city isn't particularly safe.]

Then you may want to have someone else manage your finances for you. If you can't properly do it yourself, you may end up broke.

For serious? Aaah this is all so much to take in, Ibuki has the chance to meet real live zombies! Or...real undead zombies? Zombies in their real and decomposing flesh!

[Sure, there might have been safety warnings but actual zombies, that is just too intense and oh! Question!]

I'm unaware of what their temperament is like. It is likely you would put yourself in danger by attempting to approach them. [The place in general was dangerous. If the zombies there were too, that would be even more reason for someone that can't defend themselves to avoid it.]

Show? Are you some type of performer? [He asked with some curiosity.]

I'm not sure who you should ask. Someone that wouldn't charge you or wouldn't charge you too much would be ideal.

Wouldn't say that either! There's a lot beggars can choose from when so much is discarded. Don't worry, it's all clean, you've only to dispense with useless dignity, and the prize is yours for a song.

Here, have a look. [Ted displays a bunch of old, worn clothing. Some is worn, stained, patched, and so on. Stuff thrift stores would look down upon. Yet through all the threads there's a kind of grandmotherly charm to it. Many an unwanted gift lies there.] If there's anything you like, I'll meet you at The Bay.

Though I'd say your robe isn't half bad either; is there any garment so simple yet so grand?

Ibuki is a singer and a guitarist. I perform all my own stuff, too...though before I perform I guess I'll need a guitar too.

[All these things that haven't been brought with her. But here, an opportunity to demonstrate how much thought she puts into things most of the time.]

Costumes or holographic images are one way to do that without putting yourself in danger. [Nova City easily had technology for that.]

[One jog later, a gaily dressed blonde appears.]

"Hello! Welcome to Genessia, by the way. So your name means "breath", does it? In that case, may these garments take yours away." [He's got an armful of the stuff in diverse colors.] Sadly there aren't any changing rooms...probably should've thought of that. Well, they've completed a starter housing project, so that should suit you as well as these clothes will. Hopefully."

That might be true, but would the crowds accept a fake if the real thing's right around the corner? We have to consider these things!

[Never mind that technically she's already performed to what might as well have been zombies; she doesn't remember that and for the better of all that she doesn't.

But oh, what is this?]

Ah?! Does Ibuki already have competition? Well bring it on, this Ultimate Musician's not going down so easily!

[And that is too bad about the finance management but who cares about that now? Not Ibuki.]

Well, well. Guess I'll have to add that to my list of immediate must-have life choices.

[With a solution on the way, Ibuki can resist her wanderlust for now. Plenty of time for that once she has more decent clothing.

His comment as he greets her is met with a laugh a very slight touch on the awkward side. Any other time and it wouldn't bother her but now...]

Well. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Ibuki's enjoying her breath right where it is for now.

[Still, she'll give the clothing a look over. Stains are out but tears and patches? She can work those into her aesthetic, she's sure. And she doesn't even think about where she might change until he mentions it first; even when he does, she doesn't seem too bothered.]

Ah! No need to worry. It's pretty quiet here so as long as you close your eyes...

[And she's pretty sure she can work around the robe for the most part anyway. She's still going to need underwear but if she can find even just a basic skirt and vest combination that'll do for now.]

On my home world, I and others have made use of holographic images to add and enhance the visual appeal of our concerts. Fantastical imagery only adds to showmanship.

[At least from his standpoint. You amaze the crowd with things like that, and they will enjoy your show just that much more.]

"Ultimate Musician"? [Is that her title or stage name or something?]

"Heh, Ibuki's got an odd habit of third-person self-reference. Any particular reason, or one of a thousand unexplained quirks this world loves so fondly?"

[Wow, this one's pretty bold to dress in the presence of a man! Ted's naturally a little shy about the prospect.]

"Ah, erm, goodness, you must really dislike that robe to want out of it so soon. All right, well...this might help. I'll be right back." And out he goes. He comes back with a small plastic folding table and some shades, like the ones you'd find sectioning hospital rooms. Can't be too careful.

"To avoid your things getting wet you may, ah, set them there. I'll just...wait outside and be on the lookout. Call me when you're done, or if you need anything." [He scoots away swiftly. At least she's probably not the sort to mind wild coloring; he'd have to ask if those pink eyes were natural.]

Guess I can't argue with that.

[Still doesn't stop her lamenting what could be with actual trained zombies but he does have a point, and as a performer he obviously knows what he's talking about.

The money talk's all but on hold now. Much better to talk about common ground.]

If I had a reason, I forgot it a long time ago. Now I just like to think it all adds to the Ibuki Mioda charm.

[Just in case she hadn't made it clear that she's rather shameless. Though it's not just shamelessness that drives her; making do where they are seems a touch safer than inviting a stranger to a home she hasn't even checked out yet. She is about done being gullible for the moment.

She's confused when he suddenly disappears but uses the lull to make her final selections; by the time he returns she's already slipping the skirt on beneath the still mostly-tied robe. She does, however, forego undressing any further, instead seeing the opening she needs to ask what she hasn't remembered to yet.]

Will do. Though I need to know who I'm calling for that.

[She doubts she'll need anything further but "hey you" doesn't seem quite right when he's been so helpful.]

"Heh, makes your name easier to remember."

With cat-like reflexes he shields his innocent eyes from what he probably shouldn't see. "Sorry!" he yelps. Boy she moves fast. Probably shouldn't take any chances coming or going.

"Oh, I'm Ted. All right, back to my post! Eh heh..." Lord have mercy.

I would suggest looking into that before attempting to train zombies if you want to add flair to your performance. [He most certainly does.]

So they labeled you the Ultimate Musician, but you never actually put on a show for them?

As someone who has dealt with zombies up close and personal, I can tell you your skin is much too nice to be a zombie. Can't help much with the lemon tea, but I can point you toward a good strawberry sundae if you want.

And if that's really all the clothes you have, I'd be willing to buy you something. My new gig is paying more than I'm used to anyway.

Now it's my turn for a question. What kind of performing do you do?
