A Guardian Arrives

WHO: Medivh and YOU!
WHAT: Arriving in Genessia, the Magus explores the city and also gets to reunite with an old friend.
WHEN: Current time
WHERE: Starts at the Bay and ends up at various central locations in Genessia City.
WARNINGS: Nope! Not that I can foresee. Just a lot of meaty prose. Please don't be intimidated by it! My starters are always novels. :)

Open to All: (characters can encounter him flying about in raven form, or in specified locations :) Make note of where in the subject header!)

The raven cawed, as it glided effortlessly through the air above the city. The large black bird didn't appear all that unusual, save for a strange shaped collar around its neck with a diamond shaped red jewel. Medivh had decided that it would be quicker to get a birds eye view of the city rather than trying to go about it on foot. It was a good thing he had decided on such an action, for the city was definitely one of a like he had never seen before. And Medivh had seen many things in his lifetime.

He had located the archways leading to the other cities that were mentioned in the pamphlet, though he didn't travel through any of them. Not yet. He had also located an invisible barrier on the perimeter of the city as well. It was composed of magics that were beyond even his knowledge - and after studying it for a while, flew back towards the city proper. Genessia seemed to have most conveniences that people would need, though there were other places that the Magus wasn't sure of the purpose. There were a couple of places in the city however, where he actually changed to his normal form so that he could wander on foot instead.

The Library

Medivh hadn't gotten anything to drink nor sat in the cafe on the ground floor. Instead, he wandered along the different levels, eyeing the various books on the shelves. Sometimes he would stop and pull one free to flip through it, before putting it back and moving on. There appeared to be an abundance of information here, and so he'd be here for a few hours at least seeing what there was to be found.

It was nothing compared to his library in Karazhan, but at least it was a place he could spend some time. Sometimes during his exploring, he would sit to rest and think, or look out a window with a pensive frown. There was a lot to think about.

Garden Park

This particular area was quite lovely. Medivh was content to stroll the wooded paths and enjoy the peace of nature. Something that he wasn't able to do on a regular basis. One could find him on the bridge over the lake, looking down at the fish and ducks below. Or perhaps he was wandering along the paths, seeming deep in thought. He would stop to study various aspects of vegetation or flowers before moving on.

Random Cafe

Taking a break from his explorations, Medivh would be able to be found sitting in a cafe with a steaming cup of tea. He was reading over the pamphlet with a visible frown - getting the details on sub-archways and how to operate the communication device. He still hadn't attempted it yet. Sometimes he would sip at his tea, watching people go about their business outside the window. By all appearances he seems to be quite the introvert - but he won't be averse to anyone coming over to strike up a conversation.

For Khadgar:

He had awoken in some kind of glorified capsule. The surface inside was nice and comfortable with silk and padding, but it was a tube all the same. He felt groggy and disoriented, and had no idea where he was. Medivh took a few minutes to wake up and orient himself, realizing a few things while he did so. A box was on his chest, and he could hear the sound of water gently dripping. The air was also moist and cool. The comforting shape of Atiesh was next to him in the capsule and he habitually curled his fingers around the ancient staff. He couldn't see much from the angle he was laying - so he slowly pushed himself to sit up and look around with a bleary eyed expression.

Was this a part of the Nexus? It didn't quite feel the same. However, as the Magus looked about the dimly lit, cavernous space - he realized that he had once again somehow got transported to another place. Possibly another world. Dismay rippled through him as he thought of the Nexus under attack by Gul'dan. And he wasn't there to stop him or at least protect his new allies from the warlock.

Looking down at the box that he had moved to his lap, he opened the lid to study its contents with a frown. The odd, rectangular and hard clear device he placed aside. The pendant got some interest, and he examined the colored opalescent stones. He could feel the tingle of magic within them. The largest one was green, and the accenting ones were blue. Placing that aside, he saw the keys, and pulled out the pamphlet.

Genessia?

Medivh read through the information quickly, shaking his head slightly with an almost disgruntled sigh. It appeared his guess was correct. Just when he had been sent to a place that needed him and his help - he was pulled to yet another place. At least the pamphlet explained some things, such as the pendant and the rectangular clear item that apparently was a communication device. He put on the pendant, and arranged it so that it was tucked beneath his hooded mantled cloak. The rest, he placed back into the box. He would read the rest of the details later. For now, he wanted to see just where in the Light he ended up. Feeling he could get out of the capsule and be able to stand on two feet, the Magus gingerly stepped down into the shallow inches deep water, straightening and looking around. There were other capsules in the space - though those he could see in his immediate vicinity were empty or closed. He turned his head to one of the archways leading out of the strange space. Despite the inconvenience of all of this, the part of him that was endlessly curious was eager to explore a strange new world.

Decision made, Medivh gripped Atiesh in a hand and held the box in the other as he strode towards the light streaming in from the arch.

[Normally Azalea stuck to Fayren, but she did visit the other cities on occasion. It was important to know the cities just as well in case a crisis happened. And they seem to have been happening a lot lately.]

[It was nice to know that Genessia City had nice gardens like this one. After flying over the city for a while, Azalea lands in the garden to rest. She sniffs at a couple of the flowers before sensing the presence of the newcomer. The little dragon looks up at him timidly. He looks a bit gruff. Azalea can't tell if he's human or something else, nor can she tell if he's hostile. So she continues to stare, waiting for him to make a move or speak.]

"Hey, hey bird," despite missing an arm, Alleyana had climbed up onto a statue near a lower part of Medivh's flight path, eyeing the bird with suspicion. Leliana's birds had looked similar; big black and red things. Wicked clever, too, far beyond normal birds. She wouldn't have put it past one of them to wear a bloody necklace. "You a smart one?"

The problem with vengeance was that it was reactionary. As much as Khonshu preferred to revel in the bloodshed and answer the cries of the wronged, his priest believed in being a little more proactive. That meant curbing such cries to begin with.

Tonight, that meant Moon Knight was on patrol. The completely unsolicited, unsanctioned kind. Not exactly the wisest thing to do given all the hubbub over 'Mr. Snuffles' down in Everglade, but he'd never been one to be swayed by public opinion.

Besides, there was a radar for people in this business. And he was quite content to stay beneath it.

Perched on the edge of a roof and devoid of any interesting sights for the last half hour, Moon Knight was about ready to move on when a nondescript black van rounded a corner and rolled slowly down the street. He wasn't the least bit surprised when it stopped across from a small jewelry shop.

Gloved fingers slowly drew his truncheon as he waited for the van doors to open. The old man who ran the joint hadn't closed up yet; his life could well be in danger. Moon Knight was so focused on this thought that he never noticed the raven passing overhead.

As Medivh walked, he would likely notice something rather hard to miss. An eight foot tall woman that was radiating magic energy. Rose had been busying herself tending to the various plants, introducing new kinds of plants to the park, and just generally making things prettier wherever she went.

The little dragon let out a soft sigh of relief. The person seemed somewhat unfamiliar with her kind, which meant that he wouldn't have any prejudices against her. Unless he was familiar with dragons in general, of course. Very few seemed to be familiar with dragons being as small as she was.

"I'm a dragon..." she answered timidly, before adding, "A Fae dragon. Are you a new arrival? I haven't seen anyone like you before..."

Medivh would encounter another figure on his way toward the exit, one holding onto a stave that was like to be a twin to the staff Medivh himself held. The figure was dressed in a mix of leather and cloth, the shoulder piece having a somewhat abstract feather motif to it. The blue eyes had been distracted at first, Khadgar's mind having been dealing with the fact that this place had terrible timing in kidnapping him here.

Perhaps he should consider himself and Azeroth fortunate that they hadn't yanked him away prior to Dalaran's move. That would have no doubt thrown even more of a wrench into things. He could only hope that those left behind would band together even without him to continue the fight against the Legion.

It was the feel of a power that he hadn't felt since the brief visit back to Karazhan that pulled him from his brooding thoughts and back aware once more to his surroundings. Yet, this power was subtly different than what he'd encountered back in the tower. He would refrain from jumping to conclusions, but there was a silent wariness in his demeanor as he turned to face the source of what he felt.

And felt emotion well up to hit him hard again in the chest at the sight again in such a short period. Only this time the man looked far more solid....and alive this time. Was it possible that this was the real thing this time? If so, how was this possible?

"Medivh?"

"Azeroth?" Something about the name tugged at her memory. "I think there was someone else who said he was from Azeroth. I haven't heard from him in some time, though, so he may not be here any longer."

Since he had shared a bit about his world, Azalea decided to return the kindness. "My name is Azalea, and my world is called Sornieth. Dragonkind is the dominant species there, and we come in all shapes and sizes. We have elemental territories in the continent, and each dragon has a special alignment to a certain element."

On his stroll he might come across a young boy who has stretched out a hammock between two trees, and is stretched out in it. He is wearing a very crisp school uniform with neat presses and pleats. Everything about the boy seems to scream that he is from an upper refined caste or class, the likes of which would be sooner to send people out on stupid quests that they are certain are the most important things anywhere. He looks in every way to be one of...those.

Except that he is sleeping, alone, in the middle of a public park. Yes, he had a hammock, but he was still sleeping in a park like a vagabond. A folding hand fan was in one hand as he slept, and the ground below him was littered with flower petals, and he even smelled like flowers. There was something about this little boy that seemed to make no sense.

Alley had had bigger surprises in her life, especially in the last few years, but that didn't stop her from jumping at the unexpected voice in her head. Thankfully, she had her arm -- the one with a hand still on it -- wrapped around the statue's neck. So, while the armored woman jerked back in surprise, she didn't fall.

This wasn't her world, or she'd have assumed a spirit had possessed the bird.

"Maker's teeth," Alley swore, and got her balance back just right. It was harder than it looked, with the huge shield on her back. "Yeah, I didn't realize you were a person-bird. I thought you were a bird-bird. Guess that answers the question about you being a smart one."

Khadgar quietly studied the silhouette, knowing it as well as the back of his own hand. "Yes." He wondered about the staff that Medivh held, but answers concerning it could easily wait until he knew more about how it was that the former Guardian could be standing before him. Provided he wasn't being fooled again, yet--this actually *felt* like his mentor.

The dreadlord had kept him distracted and off-balance, using his emotions against him to keep him from truly questioning Medivh's presence within Karazhan. He had known there was an echo within it, so that had been his first reasoning even beyond the excuse he'd been given for the appearance.

Perhaps this time he might actually get an answer out of the man, or perhaps he'd get another run around. Regardless, it would give him something to work with toward if he should accept what his eyes and senses told him or if he should continue to take it all with a grain or two of salt.

"How is it that you're here?"

Khadgar was silent as Medivh closed the distance between them, revealing details that had been hidden prior. The reassurance sparked a memory, long buried under the events and sorrows that had occurred after it.

"Yes. So you once told me before back in Karazhan." He paused to take in that last piece of the puzzle and nodded quietly in acknowledgement. "I see. It would seem then that all but one thing that I saw in Karazhan came to pass then." That last statement held just a slight subtle hint of wry humor to it despite the seriousness of Khadgar's expression.

While there had been many close calls that could have resulted in his demise during his time in the Outlands, he had survived his time there and grown stronger for the trials he'd went through. Perhaps if they could find a way back to Azeroth, Medivh could return with him and help turn the tide in the war against the Legion. Wishful thinking perhaps, but one could not help but hope for such an outcome. Azeroth needed all the defenders she could gather, part of why this kidnapping's timing galled him so, despite this unexpected discovery.

"I did go to that land I saw, but I did not die there."

Ted in gay clothes was out with his ghostly pet for a stroll, when something caught the naughty purple blob's attention. He pointed with an "Eh!" while Ted continued on, senses lagging behind more alert beasts. Then he noticed the temperature perk up; a sure sign that he'd outpaced his chilling specter.

"Oh, Gengar, what do you see?" He pointed again to a soaring crow overhead, then Gengar charged a Shadow Ball to knock it out of the sky. "Gengar don't!"

Ted ran ahead and tried to tackle the ghost, trying to frustrate its wicked purpose. Sorry, Medivh, apparently bird-wizards don't sit right with him.

Moon Knight's free hand found his videophone. He hit the emergency number for the Genessia PD and got someone on the horn after barely a single ring.

"Genessia City Police Department, please state the nature of your emergency."

The van doors swung open with a kick. A band of men in black jackets and ski masks surged out, guns trained on the storefront. The crescent crusader spoke in a calm gruff voice with just a hint of urgency.

"Six men with assault rifles. Marion's Gems and Jewels, Hawthorne and 22nd."

He ended the call right when they opened fire, ravaging the store's front with a rain of hot lead. Marion would need about six seconds to lower the steel shutters that protected his door and windows. Moon Knight would buy him that much and stop this rabble in fifteen. Plenty of time before the cops arrived in about a hundred and eighty.

The robbers never heard the grappling line being fired from across the street, nor did they hear it find purchase on a street light just above them. And so they were oblivious to the jet and silver avenger swooping down on them until his shadow was just too big to ignore. They turned around... and gaped as one man.

"What the fu---?!"

He crashed feet first into the biggest robber's face and dropped him cold. Then he was among them in the blink of an eye, a vortex of fists and whirling steel. He struck hard and fast, going for pressure points while being completely aware their assault rifles were unwieldy clubs at this range.

But although Moon Knight definitely bought Marion precious seconds to lock his store down, he also gave the gang's lookout the time he needed to slink out of the van and raise his weapon to his shoulder. Sure, he smirked. His buddies were dropping like flies but so would this costumed lunatic once he had a clear shot...

The magic she uses is not unlike that of the Druids in Azeroth, however rather than coming from any external source, her power seemed to be radiating from within. However, after a long moment, she does notice him, turning to give Medivh a warm smile.

"Hello there. I do hope I'm not in your way. I can move elsewhere if I am though."
