"I get that a lot," she admitted with a sheepish grin. His reactions and kindness continued to both surprise her and warm her. Even if she hadn't done a great job of it, he still said she'd helped. That was something she could be proud of. "I can bake other things if you have any requests in the future. Just let me know!"

If she thought he would be okay with it, she would have put a hand on his back or shoulder to encourage him to stand straight. But given his history with humans, that was probably a bit too much for him to tolerate.

She tucked her hands behind her back. "If you feel up to it on Sunday, do you want to go look at the cherry blossoms? Or would that be too many people for you to feel comfortable?"
