Alright, time to get this out in the open right quick:

There be two men wearin' a clerical collar here, and one obscenely loud tangle of hair and poor costuming.

If ye need religious information, ye ask a priest.

Not a five year old whingin' baby wearin' a loud tee-shirt.

Tis enough poor things to be said about organized religion without some flap mouthed, pea brained, megaphone with legs ruinin' it more.

Now with that aside-

I'm lookin' for employees for the shop. Enchanters, scribes, and a few odd cashiers lookin' to expand their magical know how. I'm more than willin' to accept apprentices, there's plenty of room for advancement.

Mind it'll be like goin' to school for several of ye, I'm gonna need dedication to sittin', readin' writin' and memorization.

Really? I don’t know much magic, but I-I can summon a demon. [ she had to wonder of that counted for something. ] but I would like to hear more about the position of an apprentice, if that’s okay!

After a year here of trainin', rather than the five it usually takes, you'll be raised to a startin' wizard or witch. Where I'm from at least, official witchcraft be needin' official paper work, I've the right and ability to certify anyone in the trade.

You'll learn how to craft and cast basic spells, brew potions, enchant basic metals and stones, disenchant and remove curses, and at least one side occupation as a tie in.

Readin' tea leaves or scribin' books, for instance.

Because I'll kill him if he pops back to the shop, and I'd hate to make myself a murderer.

Nae, lad. Just some people getting a poor introduction to a specific religion.

I-I think lots of people would like l... learning from you and Father Abel.

The only religions I know of that wear the collar are sects of Christianity - and most of those don't get on too well with sorcerers and witches. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're from one of the more... open-minded breed. That being said, I could use a place to work, and have some small skill with alchemy and magic. As long as you don't try to shove your god down my throat, I think yours sounds like one of the two best offers I've had thus far - and since yours doesn't involve protracted manhunts, it's just possible I won't get shot at or otherwise attacked on a regular basis.

Because most of the good pirates were Irish, which is where I was born, and most of me family were uneducated serfs and woodsfolk so I sound like a great bloody hick.

Well first of all we ain't gonna get along well if ye start off your thoughts on me with 'I'll give ye the benefit of the doubt'.

Me mother was a witch. I could no more ignore magic than I could turn back the tide and tell the moon to bugger off.

Second of all, as long as ye don't argue with me for no bloody reason about the existence, non-existence, possible abandonment or neglect from God and talk to me like I'm a great stupid baby, we'll get along just fine.

I don't bring up religion lest I have to.

He's been an obnoxious little barb in me gut since I got here, now he's makin' fun of my hair.

More of an enchanter. Wizardin' is a touch different, a lot more active. I can still certify witches, wizards and enchanters in all of Ireland, most of England, half of Scotland and three American states, currently.

Herbal know how is an excellent way to start, ma'am. Gives one quite a leg up in the business.

That bein' said, I don't expect an apprentice to be too exceptionally learned to start. Tis why you're learnin' to begin with.

[Soma shrugs at that. Okay, you've got a point there.] I think we can reasonably avoid religious discourse, unless it becomes an issue with the magic itself. My own beliefs and knowledge are complicated enough as it is without trying to get them through someone else's filters.

Though I might point out, one of my best friends back home is a practicing witch in paid service to the Vatican. Try to wrap your head around that.

More like they've finally realized the best way to fight the monsters is to use monsters of their own, though I'd certainly hesitate to call Yoko a monster. At any rate, I'll be by as soon as I can figure out where this shop of yours is - I've only been in the city for a day and spare change, now, I'm still finding my way.

Um...you mentioned magical knowledge...I could use some more of that. I've been training...but I need to build my power...
