Siren's Song ~ Sonico The Mermaid: Video and Action

[Video - Start of Curse]

*At first the video seems to just show a long fish tail of shimmering scales in pink and blue. It's really quite hypnotic. After a few moments of that, however, the camera showed Sonico's startled face*

So maybe I haven't lost my sight or my voice, but now I have this tail thing?! Is it a joke?! I don't get it! I'm pretty sure this isn't funny!

[Near the start of the curse].

Library!

*It's far from unusual to see Sonico in the library. In fact, she's quit a bit of a fixture there. This time, though, something is a little different. Somehow, just as she was reaching for more books on marine biology - pop! Sonico is transformed into a mermaid. Rather uselessly, she flails her tail around and attempts to half-drag, half-hop to safety. Clearly, though, she's floundering and causing a bit of a nuisance with that tail - it's danegerous around people or stacks of books.

[Slightly Later In the Curse.

Genessia Gardens.

The gardens are close to Sonico's home, and lately something's been pulling her to the water more than usual. So, Sonico is having some time in the afternoon swimming in the garden ponds with the fish. Or, she might be sitting at the side with her tail in the water and strumming a tune with an acoustic guitar.

Nova City - In Town, and In Malls

Sonico's talent agents jumped on this opportunity when Sonico told them her new mermaid situation. Turns out there is a boutique line of lingerie and swimwear that needed a model for its bikinis. So, sometimes around the city, or in the malls, Sonico can be found in a large glamourous tank, swimming around, posing, smiling and waving, and showing off how good the expensive bikini tops look on her. At some points in the day it's even possible to pay to have a photo taken with Sonico as she sits with her tail in a pool, sitting inside a large plastic shell. It's all very sparkly and glam, and though tiring, Sonico is doing her best to be the prettiest mermaid she could be.

Not a joke. I have a very similar situation and I doubt anyone could pull off a joke this big.

[Thankfully Lenalee was actually in the bath at the time, however she is currently covering the top half of herself with her free arm that wasn't holding the device currently.

Thank god she is just showing her face at least.]

[As chance would have it, Athrun was in the library at the same time. He had been in the physical science section when he heard a commotion. Following his ears, he works his way toward the biology section.

Then he sees Sonico. Except she has a fish tail.]

What the HELL?!

[He actually leaps backwards when he sees it. Making sure to stay out of tail range, he inches closer. All right, that doesn't look like a costume...]

*That this happened in a public place was one thing, definitely embarrassing enough. But then that Athrun saw her and actually jumped back, that was mortifying, making her eyes suddenly sting*

Oh! Athrun - don't...

*She covers her face with her arm, and as he inches closer she tries to pull herself further back*

[At some point during her tank swims, Gale would suddenly drop down from above and hover in front of the glass upside-down. He was enjoying this new flight ability immensely, even moreso after he'd already gotten himself a nice new leather outfit to accommodate his new wings. He grinned and waved to her from his side of the glass.]

Well, keeping a pretty girl in a tank. Isn't that a little cruel to do to a young lady?

*Sonico leans into her camera, as if to show how intense this situation is*

You do? Have your legs gone too? Are you like half a fish? Or - well - it's like being a mermaid!

[Well, it's probably for the best that he doesn't find her while she's being carted around in a tank- even if it is a glitzy one. The plastic shell pool, though, that's cute as hell. He hangs out off to the side for awhile, he'll be damned if he's gonna pay to get a photo, waiting for her to go on a break or off duty. Know what he'd rather pay for? Bringing her lunch. He's not really sure what she likes but if she's a mermaid now she'll probably get iffy about eating meat. Hell if he knew why some of them were like that- he can't stand to eat much else- but he knows it's A Thing where he's from. So he's got a big to-go bowl of vegetable ramen and a couple of drinks she probably shouldn't be consuming on the clock all wrapped up in an ever so stylish grocery bag.

As soon as she pulls away from the crowd a bit, he heads toward her, arm raised in greeting.]

Yo, Sonico!

[He looks a little different, himself. His bright blue skin is now a more earthy hue, and he has a wicked set of large wings folded up behind his shoulders. As if he wasn't conspicuous enough already.]

*Sonico gasped when someone appeared from above, and upside down too. A good job she can breathe no problem under water. She swims a little closer so that she can get a better look, and notices the wings. She could hardly judge when she had a blue and pink tail

She smiles softly, a little bashful at his wording, but slowly shakes her head. Sonico has to speak up to be heard through the water and the glass, but she's audible enough*

It's okay. I have space. And I can leave any time I want.

*At the end of another session of photographs, some people were touching up her hair and make up. Eventually, they disappeared to let Sonico have a breather - and sure enough, she let's out a huge sigh of relief.

Sonico smiles and waves gently back at him, though it took her a second to realise that it was indeed Namur*

Look at you - you got wings instead of a tail?

They have and while it was a good place for it to happen... I currently cannot get out of where I was.

[Which was bad, but she was glad she didn't live with anyone because this could have been extremely awkward.]

[He let his eyes wander to get a better look at her - as Gale's eyes are want to do every day. He gives a flap of his wings, straightening himself right-side up again and cupped his chin in his hand.]

I would hope so. Someone like you shouldn't be carted around just to make for a pretty display piece. That'd be a crime.

*Stop it, really...That way he's looking at her, it's making her blush. She swishes her tail back and forward slowly, a sign of her amusement*

Do I seem like a pretty display piece? If I do, then it means I'm doing my job. So that's a good thing!

*She tilts her head as she takes a look at his wings, idly wondering if they are a new feature or if he had them already. He certainly seemed to be enjoying them*

Hmm... Something must have caused this. It just doesn't make any sense.

*That's just Sonico letting her science brain take over*

Maybe there's something that made it happen. Then we can figure out how to change it back!

Sheheh yeah. Well. Ain't much of a transformation t' get turned int' yer own species. Be like if y' woke up an' yer hair's a differnt color or some shit. Big whoop. Whoever or whatever pulls this shit's usually tryna get people makin' a big deal outta it. So I getta be a rock with wings an' claws.

[Namur shrugs, and shakes his foot, showing off said claws. He has no idea what a gargoyle is.]

Anyway, get a chance t' eat yet? Shit like this happens an' most people takes a step back t' figure shit out. But y' jus' leap on in headfirst an' work that much harder. Sheheheh!

Hmm...I don't know. It might be even stranger if I'd woken up with black hair or something..

*But yes, she is teasing somewhat. Sonico leans forward in her shell and peers down at his foot*

Oh... Like a...gargoyle or something.

*Don't worry Namur, she knows what they are. She looks a little sheepish though, the end of her tail giving a little flip*

I know...but when my agent found out... I've just - been given more opportunities like this... Ah, but no. I haven't eaten yet. I should...probably try to change back first...

[What? Nooooooooo! Don't lose the pretty fins!]

Don't worry 'bout it, I broughtcha somethin'.

[He plops the grocery bag into her lap.]

Damn shame there ain't no bubbly coral 'round here anywhere though. Show y' how t' use it so y' can get 'round like the 'maids down on my Island. Sheheh! They float 'round on bubbles an' swim in the air. But anyway, if y' wanna go eat somewhere a li'l less... in front a everybody, I'll take y' 'round.

[Be warned, Sonico. His cheeks are getting a bit pink, which means his kindness might be more self-serving than truly chivalrous.]

*Sonico peers inside the grocery bag, wondering what sort of thing Namur might decide to bring for her. She looks up from the contents with a big smile - exactly what she wants*

Float on bubbles? That sounds like fun! Strange, but fun.

There's a dressing room behind some of the stores I've been given to use.

*She takes the pinkness as a sign that he might be feeling awkward, bless her*

Listen gillfriend, I grew up cartin''maids 'round from here t' there. Even when we knew they had some a that coral they'd be like oh, it ran outta air or some shit.

[He modulates the pitch of his voice and his accent when imitating the girls, dramatically pressing the back of his wrist against his forehead. Then he props his arms on the edge of the shell, scooting a little bit closer, expression conspiratorial.]

Bubbly coral don't run outta air, so we knowed they's whaleshittin' us. Most a the boys complained at first but after awhile we realized carryin' a girl 'round's got... benefits.

[Namur winks.]

*Sonico is a good person, who is patient and polite, which means that she listens and only slightly rolls her eyes at his impression of those women. She blinks up at him as he moves closer*

But I bet all of them got what they wanted, didn't they? To be carried around? But what benefits would it have for you?

Yeah they did! Cuz 's a damn good way for us boys t' hold 'em right up close t' our hearts, aye? An' if a couple a knucklebrains got it in their heads t' pinch a girl's ass once or twice an' make her sing- wellllll 's jus' a risk she knew she's takin'.

[Lord of the Sea, has he broken some rule of the bro code? Having said it, he feels like he might have.]

[He's totally ready for her to say no, that she's actually into other girls more. Story of his life on Tellus, not gonna lie.]

*The part about holding girls close to their hearts was sweet, but the pinching of a girl's ass made Sonico's mouth open in surprise and her cheeks sprung rosy pink. As for his question, it took a moment before Sonico could reply, all flustered by the turn in the conversation*

Uh, well. Yes. I'm sure it would. But I wouldn't know. I mean, I've never - I don't know.

[Good, now her face is as pink as his. Namur snorts, chuckling a little.]

So there y' go, that's the benefit. Feels nice.

[He reaches his arm down into the little pool and splashes some water up at her.]

Never had a guy y' wished would get a li'l closer, huh?

*Sonico opens her mouth as though to say something on behalf of those women. But actually...they probably knew that the guys liked carrying them. And they probably liked that too*

If everyone is happy and everyone feels nice then...I suppose that's...good.

*Ordinarily, being splashed like that might bother her a little, and she might not much like getting wet in her clothes. Both she's sitting in a plastic shell with a real mermaid's tail and it's actually quite nice.

Sonico lowers her eyes though to look at her lap*

It's not...that I wouldn't want it... Just - it hasn't ever happened. I'm sure it must be very nice for two people to be so close.

*Clearing her throat quietly because awkward. She feels so out of her depth talking about this kind of thing...*

[Namur flicks water at her a few more times, moving progressively higher up her body until he reaches her face.]

Sometimes if y' want shit t' happen y' jus' gotta open yer mouth an' say so. Dudes is muckbrains a the lowest order, 's true, but that don't mean we're gonna do more'n jus' think 'bout shit we'd like t' do, without permission first. Catch me?

...Uh.

[Athrun comes to a stop. He can tell that Sonico is both moving away from him and upset. He raises both hands, palms outstretched, in a nonthreatening gesture.]

I -- look, um, what are you trying to do? Can I at least help?

*Sonico just bit her lip as she slowly moved her arm away to look at him. She does still have the expression of a frightened rabbit*

I don't know... I just woke up like this. But after a while, I switched back to normal but I don't know how....
