[Namur's face and skin are usually notable, seeing as how he's a vibrant blue and looks like a shark. But today, it's like he got hit with the weird stick a few more times. His skin is still blue, but now when it catches the light a certain way, it looks like crystallized ocean waves rolling over his body. Geology enthusiasts might quickly recognize the distinctive patterns of larimar. It quickly fades, the more he comes out of his involuntary transformation.]

[Namur laughs, triumphant, ecstatic, terrified, beyond sanity.]

Take that, shitty gravity!

[And then he yells again. Because there's a tower looming up above them.]

WuaaaaaAAAAAAA HOW THE HELL D' Y' STEER THESE THINGS???

[SERIOUSLY HE HAS NO IDEA]

[The best he can think to do is just dodge instinctively, rolling to the side and out of the way of the taller building. But that does interesting things to his wings, and he slams into the corner, the world becoming a spinning mess of rock chips and fire and falling dear Lord of the Sea and something inside telling him to just spread himself out wide and it'll be okay. He's not sure if he has Ace still or not, and screams into the rushing air.]

AAAAAAAACE!!!

NAMUUUUUR!!!

[he had fallen and now was on the back of a dangerously speeding hover car, claws shrieking across the metal as he fights to stay on.

Save him big bro, you're his only hope]

[Namur grunts, fighting to get his spin under control before he smashes through an awning head-first. It's... almost... kind of a little bit like getting into a spin underwater- but not really. This is a lot worse and there's no friction to slow it down except for in his wings and damn they are dragging... wait.

With a yell, Namur pushes his wings out, and they snap as they catch the air, jolting him to an almost immediate stop. He begins falling again immediately, but shakes himself out of it enough to beat downward. It helps to think of them as flippers, and the air is like really really thin water. He climbs higher quickly, breathing deeply as he goes, hunting Ace. Once he catches his brother's scent and determines which direction is fresher, he zips after the hover car as fast as he can.]

'M comin' bro! Hang on!

[he doesn't know if he can. There is one thing he can do, he realizes as he comes closer]

I'll come to you!

[he works out in his head the angle and the fall and then leaps, straight for Namur, spread wide like a glider without anything to glide with. He'll either hit Namur flat in the face, he figures, or get sideswiped by the other car that's coming in fast.]

[Why are there so many cars??? Namur races to catch Ace, and finds the impact of a full sized Jaguar Zoan surprisingly easy to offset. Unfortunately, that second car isn't able to dodge out of its lane and smacks into both of them, sending them careening. Namur has a better grip this time though, and Ace isn't a fiery ball of cat shaped death anymore, so that helps. There are several honks as they fall through traffic, but by now Namur's beginning to get the feel of it, and they touch down safely on the sidewalk below.

It feels like his heart is in his throat, trying to force a jailbreak.]

So. That.

Was.

Shittin'.

AWESOME!

[Namur laughs hysterically. Sorry, Ace. Your brother might be a little broke at the moment.]

[he's mostly a mass of spiked out fur but he laughs too, half yowl half human. It was awesome!

Too awesome!]

[Namur's whole body trembles as he laughs, tears streaming from his eyes. He feels the need to pee. Holy shit, what a rush! He scrubs his face with the cuff of his sleeve, breathing deeply to try and get himself under control.]

Yeah. Okay, jus'. Gimme a minute.

[He laughs again, but cuts it off with a "Whew!" as he sits there in the middle of the walkway.]

Shit, I thought we's gonna die. Sheheheheheh! What a shitty pathetic way t' go, eh? Sheheheheheh!

Nah it would've been great. [purrs absently and rubs his furry cheek against Namur, kneading one paw in the air]

[Ugh don't get your feline dude lovey cooties all over him, gross. He doesn't like them at all and the cuddles certainly aren't helping him stop shaking so damn much except for the part where they are and he loves them. Never stop. Damn remora.]

What, screamin' like a buncha guppyshits an' knockin' ourselves silly? Pass.

[Namur takes a deep breath that only shakes a little bit, knocks his forehead against Ace's, then pushes his brother off so he can stand up, sights set on the skyline.]

Lessee if we can get ourselves somewhere in one piece, huh?

[He holds open his arms for Ace to hop into and spreads his wings. For the time being, he's like a shitty bird, and that means the heights belong to him. Damned if he won't find a way to conquer them.]

[he'll just laugh and jump into Namur's arms, hanging there languidly as they fly, still purring absently. He is obviously unafraid and has complete trust in Namur's capabilities]

It's not a bad place to be is it. I miss home though.

[he says it in a wistful way though he's overall happy to be spending time with him]

[This time, the takeoff is a bit more... intentional. And Namur realizes his wings are strong enough to lift him without jumping or running around like an idiot at first. Just pump and you're up! Though it'd probably suck to be someone walking by right at that moment. There might have been a couple people knocked over by the blowback.

There's still panic as he climbs, his heartrate skyrocketing almost as fast as they are, but he swallows it down. There's nothing to worry about, right? He's got salt rotted wings for shit's sake. If he falls he just has to reach them out and suddenly, not falling anymore! So it's fine, everything is okay. Namur tightens his grip on Ace as they break out above the skyline and dart through lanes of commuters. Luckily, he only has to dodge once, and they're above even the hovercars. As much as he hates to do it... he has to. He banks toward the monolithic apartment complex where Marco and Grell live, more than 4,000 stories up in the atmosphere. He's going to circle that damn thing as high as he possibly can and then sit on a damn ledge until he stops flipping his shit about it.

It's a ways off, though, and Ace's quietude is oddly catching.]

Yeah, shit ain't too bad 'round here. Hell of a lot better'n the last place. But even the ocean tastes a bit like a fishtank. Currents jus' swirl back int' theirselves, an' there ain't nowhere t' swim t', let 'lone sail. Oughta get used t' it though. Ain't like any a us's got any say how long we're here or not...

[And it ain't like Ace has much of anything to go home to. A year or so of life, most of it spent chasing a man who was a brother and a friend and who spat all over everything that ever meant. Whaleshit.]

Still gettin' on with that ol' Marine?

[he hates that Namur is kind of unhappy here. He hates that Namur is right too. This place looks open and wild and free but there are boundaries. It's starting to cramp his style a little but he's not ready to go back yet. It's not fear, he tells himself. Something different.

He shrugs at the Smoker question, resting his head on Namur's stony forearm, tail flicking irritably]

Yeah sometimes. Not like there's anything better to do. [big huff]

[Namur chuckles.]

Now y' know why we broke down an' got shitty jobs. Bein' a pirate the way we know it's not an option anymore, so we gotta do somethin' else t' keep our Wills strong an' our ambitions burnin' hot. Turned out t' be a hell of an adventure so far. Emphasis on the hell part.

[Namur ducks his head to nudge the fur between Ace's ears. He doesn't want to think about how many times he's killed what he thought was a monster, only to find Ace reaching out for him, betrayed expression on his face. How many times he ripped the guts out of his own pups, or bit straight through the Old Man's flesh. It wasn't real, he doesn't think, but it might have been just real enough. Ceres had been vague on the details.

In spite of its shortcomings, Genessia is a shitton better than Cerealia ever was.]

[he purrs at the nuzzle and kneads the air]

Just what I've been doing. Not getting a job, though, screw that. I just want to be free. [he sighs and absently grooms Namur's stony hair] This place isn't big enough.

[Ack you dumbass brother, don't screw with his hair while he's flying!]

Sheheh! Ain't never been anywhere big 'nuff 'cept home. First place I's at, we could go anywhere, aye? All over the entire shitty planet. Swum 'cross it an' back durin' winter break. So like. Less'n a week. Damned thing was tiny as hell.

[Namur's still heading toward the building, angling upward as he goes. If his skin weren't suddenly made of stone he'd be starting to sweat, but not from exertion. The view is amazing- and utterly terrifying. He might be unconsciously holding Ace just a little bit tighter.]

[he can't help it. it's instinct. He pauses though at the question, tongue half out. That's not a bad idea... Well it could be interesting anyway, for as long as he's here. And something to do but... ]

[Namur shrugs a little.]

Protect it. Make sure peeps stay free in it. Fight dumbasses that think they can take y'. Same kinda shit we done back home, jus' with less ocean in-between.

I guess. Might as well for as long as we're here. [it could get old after a while. But then, so could everything]
