[ new, unfamiliar worlds are less of a frightening thing to Akito now and much more of an incredibly obnoxious occurrence. not only has he lost his ticket to his brother's world of origin, he also lost the inner flame that let him feel connected to his family despite being literal worlds apart. ]

They say the third time's the charm, but this world isn't the one I wanted to wake up in so I guess that's not true.

[ despite his irritation and apparent easy acceptance of his new circumstances, he cradles the large egg protectively in his arms - as though afraid something might aim to harm it at any moment. he pipes up hesitantly; suspicious. ]

...There's really nothing here I'm supposed to fight, or kill?

[ things would be less... worrying if he knew why he was kidnapped, this time. ]

Oh, I wouldn't say that. There's plenty to fight; there's even been an uptick in people wanting to spar. It's great fun! To say nothing of all the monsters, but they have a way of waiting to be slain on one's terms.

Then why bother to kidnap anyone? There has to be a reason.

This is the third world I've woken up in that wasn't my world of origin.

...So, basically, whoever or whatever kidnapped us had no actual reason to? And we're trapped here for an indefinite amount of time with no clue as to how we can go back home?

[A bespectacled man appeared in the video. He smiles, and judging by the way he dressed, he looks like a priest.]

Oh hello? A new arrival, I take it? If you're at the bay, then you must be in Genessia City. I assure you, that you're safe for the most part.

Wouldn't say that either; actually their reason is very simple, almost to the tune of mysticism. They're interested in repopulating the world and being shown what it means to live. I think they prefer connotation over denotation, there, and apparently we haven't satisfied them yet.

I think the world will come to a conclusion, of sorts, so I wouldn't definitely say 'indefinite'. And yes, no one has figured out a way home yet. Though strictly speaking no one's certain that this isn't, after all, our home, or at least our place of origin, depending on what you take "Genessia" to mean.

What does what mean?

[ he barely refrains from rolling his eyes. he's heard all this nonsense before. ] And Nautilus claimed all other worlds were just dreams while it was the world everyone would 'wake up' to. At least the last world I was in was straightforward -- it was in trouble and needed help, and we were promised passage home as soon as possible. Trying to save itself is a much better selfish reason than what sounds like basic curiosity.

[ he normally isn't so salty. but. really. there is only so much bullshit and universes and whatever that he can handle right now. it would be better if agito was here... but he's come to accept that he and his other half may never be reunited at this rate. ]

With an infinite amount of dimensions, any one place claiming to be the origin world is just naive egotism.

I'm here to help. I'm a priest and helping new arrivals is what I like to do.

Allow me to explain the "most part". Do you see you're using your communicator device? It has a network and CPU, and it's like an electronic diary, it records your thoughts. If you ask to pull up a map, it will show you a map.

The map will show you 5 cities, and they are Genessia, Nova City, Everglade, Attleton, and Fayren. Each cities have their own laws, but Everglade is the most dangerous one with their law that vampire and werewolves that allow to feed humans after sundown. Nova City is safe with their high technology, but sometimes robots run amok.

[That does sound pretty exhausting; Ted's sort of glad this is his first rodeo.]

You're certain about the egotism? There are, I'm told, an infinite number of numbers, but only one will do for most equations. I rather meant that it may be the origin of 'us', and...well, that's just a theory, and not a cheery theory either.

If they need to know about life, I'm not a good candidate to learn from. And I don't think Nautilus was being truthful, but I also don't think this place is either. Who cares where the 'origin' is anyway? There could be an infinite number of origin worlds for an infinite number of people.

I dunno. [ not really a lie - he has an idea, from interpreting the kanji in his name, but... ] My Papa never told me.

Everyone wants to know where they come from, don't they? Though I suppose the parentage looms more important than the place. My condolences for your own; is that Japanese? It sounds very like; there's many of them about. I'll be sure to ask.

Well Akito, is there anything you need at present?

I don't care where I came from -- it's irrelevant to the future. And there's nothing about my parentage that needs condolences. [ well. there is. but physical and mental abuse aside his father did a decent enough job. he's still alive, after all! ]

Um, unless you know of a way I can get back to my big brother, then there's nothing I need.

Unless the bounty is on something that's hurting people, or it will send me where I need to be, I don't plan on doing any killing.

[Well at least the kid is not a psychopath. That's refreshing.] The bounties in the paper generally are on things that hurt people and occasionally people that hurt people.

If it keeps people safe, then it's something I'll help with. But not something I'll go out of my way to do - epecially not until my egg hatches.

There's no purpose to it, not that I've seen. I know someone on their fifth world, can't explain it. Some force that thrives on annoyance in stress would be behind this, if anything.

All right. If you need a place to stay, there's the commonspace in Genessia city, the main city. The rent is free for a month. You do have some money on you to help start your life here, they are called red bills, but the money last for a month.

I think if you ask around, there are people that can provide you jobs.

[Genessia does have a knack for people with weird parents.]

Destiny seems to pull our pasts and put them forward, I find. Well, it's good to hear that you can take care of yourself, at least. Figures, since you've so much experience. Let me know if that ever changes.

...Whoever or whatever is behind all this is lucky I am more interested in getting to my brother's world than getting even with all my kidnappers. Though if this were the fifth time this has happened to me I might have changed my mind.

So? The past is still the past. Even if it impacts the future there's no use dwelling on it. It's just a waste of time.

If I can think of any unanswered questions, I will make sure to keep Mr. Ted in mind.

I don't think so, but if you choose to sleep outside at night, there are criminals running around murdering and robbing people.

[And if Akito has that egg, it's better to go to the Genessia Commonspace. He should have a key to the apartment as a part of his starter pack.]

Not at the moment, and the things we really need to worry about tend to be.. unconventional.

Those we only have to worry about if the cities' barriers break, though, so for the most part, anything you go after yourself is optional.
