[1st blade:] The swordsman merc

[Kratos is not... a wordy or expressive man. When he arrived at the Bay, he quietly listened to the instructions of the hologram with grim acceptance, and wandered all the over city, looking for a place to stay because it's winter in Genessia. He found the map from a few magazines to find his way around.

Truth to be told, he sort of marveled at the sights and sounds and life of the city, compared to his world of Derris-Kharlan where he foresee his people of lifeless beings under his care after Mithos is gone. The technology is different than the magi-technology, he observed.

After a few days, he settled in an inn in Fayren. His lifeless world, the floating planet in space was left behind...for the time being. Still, the mana he sense here on this world is stable as he can use most of his spells while practicing in the woods of the forest.

Ah, it didn't dawn upon him to use the device to communicate to the Network. So speaking into it with a very mild:]

"... ... ...hello."

[Yup. Pause. Not a wordy man. He's one of those strong silent types.]

"Greetings. I'm Kratos Aurion. I'm a swordsman and a mercernary. How do you do?"

[Good start. There we go.]

"Is there is anyone who is a swordsmans around here too? I think I'm rather out of place in this city."

[Hey, he knows that name! Or at least the meaning.]

"Hello, Mr. Aurion! Welcome to Genessia. I'm Ted. Yes, I do my fair share of fencing, and I'm far from the only one. You'll likely be right at home."

[He nods at this stranger in the video. Where he is, he sat cross-legged, feeling warm and comfortable in an inn.]

"At home? How so?"

[Not a wordy man.]

"Oh, just that you'll find many much like yourself. Men of the blade. I've had a few good spars with some myself."

"...fencing. So do you use a rapier type of sword? You have to be quick when you thrusts your blade."

"Don't I know it! More of a longsword man, myself. Can't get any good hews with anything else so thin, eh?"

[Have a hatchet-faced elf with a nose that looks like it's lost a few fights with a wall.]

I'm more of a mace gal, these days, but I've used plenty of swords.

[Nodding again. Strange fellow, this Ted.]

"I'm a broadsword user, which is usual as a knight in a palace will use. Heavy on the wrist, but can slice up the limbs if you have the strength in the arms and shoulders."

[Oh. An elf! Elves are very particular in his world. In fact, if you're half elf, you are the lowest race of the population. That's why, from his usual stoic expression, he shows an interest of curiosity.]

Hello. Are you an elf? Are you familiar with the worlds Tethe'alla and Sylverant?

"Goodness, sounds like you've some visceral experience. Do you prefer a shield, or both hands on the hilt?"

[Careful Kratos, you're entering the sword zone, an endless conversation about the merits of sharp things and how cool they are.]

[Anyone with elven blood is treated as shit on Thedas. 'Knife-ear' is a very popular thing to hear coming out of human mouths. Shockingly, that didn't stop them from raising Alley up as a leader of their stupid human religion, whether she wanted to be or not.]

Oh, did the ears give me away?

Never heard of either place, I'm from Thedas. Ferelden originally, then the Free Marches. Then...

[Well, the Inquisition had practically become its own country for a while there, perched in the high mountains between Ferelden and Orlais. The Inquisitor herself gives a shrug.]

[Kratos is being matter of factly.]

Yes, they do. I see, a different world. [He's curious about all of these beings from other worlds.]

I came from a world where elves and half-elves live uneasily side by side on the fringes with humans. They have the ability to cast magic by tuning into the mana, the energy of our world to cast their spells, an ability humans lacked.

[Why not? He is a sword teacher.]

"I used to be a captain of the royal knights. I taught my son and my best friend as their mentor. My best friend turned evil. They end up killing each other. My son wins."

[He smiles softly, proud of his boy.]

"A sword in one hand, a shield in the other. Though if required, both on the hilt."

Tethe'alla almost sounds like it could be ancient Elvhen, but...

[Alleyana gives another shrug. There's a massive, spiked shield on her back that keeps shifting when she does that, glimpsed over her shoulders.]

Elves were subjugated by humans thousands of years ago on my world. Over religious crap, of course. We've lost almost everything, including most of our original language. My kind generally either grow up in the alienages -- slums in human cities -- or out in the wild with the remaining Dalish Clans, whose primary goals are to search for what was lost and keep hold of what hasn't been lost yet.

[No matter how misguided, at least they're trying.]

As for magic, we've more of a link to the Fade than the humans do, which is the origin of magic. Seems some things carry over between worlds.

It's the other half, the country of my world of Aselia, and it's the only continent that has elves and half-elves, living beneath humans on the caste system.

[Kratos listened...very intently. And sympathetically, he can feel her pain.]

My world is similar to yours in most suspect. From the religion, to the slums, and even the heritage. Humans are to blame. Yet elves and half-elves have the link to the mana, our magic.

'Beings who lived forever, for whom magic was as natural as breathing.'

[As usual when Alleyana quoted someone from those days, her cadence matched that of the speaker. Solas had often spoken a little... slowly, with great care. It made sense, now that she knew what she did of him.]

That's what we were, before the humans. Or so it was described to me, once, by someone who'd seen it.

I'm not even a mage, but I've been to the Fade, and I could see colors there that my non-elven companions could not. The link is obviously still there, even when it's not... in use.

[He was raring to get into the respective merits of sword-and-board compared to two-handed, but the casual bringing up of melodrama that intense got him to change course.]

"Oh, I'm...sorry to hear that." [...but it's hard to douse his enthusiasm for long.]

"Well, the romance of a shield is obvious enough; a means against the fiery arrows of the adversary, and all that. Fat chance of doing that with but a blade! Still, the other provides so much more speed, power, and precision, it's intoxicating! And don't even get me started on the utterly queer who use two blades! Goodness, I felt like I was up against a polygamist, who was so insensate as to marry two women. Doesn't he know that one blade, like one wife, is more than sufficient? Alas...

Er, shot in the dark, but if you're still in the teaching business, I ah...wouldn't mind going back to that." [His previous sword teacher disappeared. He's not taking it well.]

"...???"

[Kratos is silent for the most part, listening to this man talk whatever is on his mind. Well, his son uses a two swords in both hands, as he trade off the shield to use more power and strength in his blades.]

"..."

[While he hardly imparts knowledge, there is nothing to do on Derris Kharlan. Its a floating dead planet floating through space, a world full of the void, with emotionless half elves, who locked their consciousness in their exspheres (a type of crystals) and float around the fortress in their seemingly immortality. He nodded at the last part and send Ted his location to his CPU. It's rather easy to do, since Cruxis used the exspheres to fuel their magitechnology.

The long of it, the short of it. There's really nothing to do back home. It's a stretch of eternity. Lloyd, his son on Aselia is a young man living on his own now.]

"Fayren. Remember, rapiers won't do well against my broadsword and bring a shield with you. Come morning."

I'm not really a swordsman, but I've been training with blades for the past year. I think I'm good enough now to not die right away in a sword fight.

[Howdy, stranger. Your Strong, Silent temperament is not that far from Gloom Incarnate's here. He's responding from a busy sidewalk in Genessia City, groceries in one hand... and what looks like a sheathed long sword in the other.]

You'll find many men, women, and beings of the blade among us pendant wearers.

"Oh, ah...all right. I'll be there." [Dare he hope for a replacement so soon? It'd be good to go back to that routine.]

[Bracken checked the network every now and then and tried to greet some new people, as well as he could. But, when he saw video of Kratos, something seemed very familiar about the background.

He thought about it... and thought about it. Then, he walked over to his window and checked out of it into the woods. His house was up high in the trees, formed as part of series of trees, and even had a natural platform spiraling around a tree and leading up to it. But, if someone wasn't expecting it, it could easily be considered some odd plant growth. They would have to look above to see bridges and other things leading from one tree to another.

Opening the window, he looked down at the forest below, calling out a bit hesitantly since he wasn't use to being loud.]

H-Hello?

[The guild leader is here too? It's comforting to know, but now she wonders if the branch leaders from Doplund and Gravada are here too.]

"Kratos! It's good to see you again. How have you been?"

[The same Kratos, but not the guild leader as this one comes from his original universe.

At first, he thought he's Presea, one of Lloyd's friends, as she carried a resemblance.]

"...hm. Hello. And who are you? Are you related to Presea?"

[His question suggested a lack of recognition, as in, he never seen her before.]

[With a nod, understanding. Kratos don't ask questions about how he got here or why he's here, as he already searched the network and read as much as he could.]

"Ah. So it is. And you yourself too?"

[Here's a curious youngster. Almost the same age or perhaps close to it, to his son's friends back home.]

"Hello. I see. It's good to train and practice to build up your skill. And what kind of blades do you use, if you must fight?"
