[ It happens around twenty minutes after the broadcast goes up. Even if she might be at least functional now, she's still been far from happy. Maybe, though... Maybe it's time for Ace to know. She's been told over and over to talk about it, and knowing what she does of Ace, maybe he'd understand. And if it really wasn't all right, well, it'd get that out of the way sooner too.

When she finally does arrive though, she pauses as the door to the roof access closes behind her. She doesn't know if she can do this, and it seems difficult to try and put anything into words though. Adela does eventually make to sit nearby, looking at him briefly before finally forcing herself to speak. ]

It has been some time, has it not?

[ ... Not that it's the best opener to a conversation. ]

[he senses her presence before she arrives. His always faulty observation haki kicking in, maybe because he's in that kind of mood. But he can also tell shes' in a mood of her own.]

He gets up, hands in his pockets and moves to jump off the roof.]

[ She nods, approaching the edge of the roof and wow they are really high up Ace isn't planning on just jumping down... Is he?

[he picks her up, unconsciously bridal style but only because it's convenient, and jumps. They land hard enough so his knees buckle and they're in a crouch but otherwise safe enough]

[ She can't help the yelp when they jump, and she hangs onto him before they hit the ground. It takes her a moment to nod and to pull away a bit, that was really high up honestly but... ]

[ It's not her legs they landed on after all. It doesn't seem like she's noticed anything off about the way he's holding her for the moment at least. ]

[ Eventually she'll lead them to Hangar Queen, which is a bit quieter than normal thanks to it being daytime. Even if Adela doesn't intend to get drunk, she'll still get a drink provided the bartender on duty doesn't bother her about her age and drink with Ace then and there.

Still, she doesn't know what to talk about now that they're there. She winds up just looking at her drink, frowning a bit at it before sighing and deciding that she should direct the conversation to Ace for now. ]

[he gets a bottle of whiskey himself, not that it'll do much good. He doesn't like this place on principle. It kind of makes his skin crawl. So he'll put his feet up on the table, crossed at the ankle, just to piss people off and dare them mentally to make him move]

Okay. [he takes a draw off the drink] You? Pretty serious looking today. [he flips a strand of her hair playfully]

[ She does meet his eye when he starts playing with her hair a bit, and she wants to smile, to just say something that will assure him that she's okay but... ]

I suppose I have been fairly serious recently. I have been told I am too pre-occupied with my own actions several times already.

[ She huffs a hollow laugh, closing her eyes and shaking her head. ]

[ That gets her to sigh, a hand rising to grip at her bangs as she tries to think of what to say. It's a lot easier to look at her drink than it is at him, but it doesn't last forever. Eventually she drinks the whole thing down in one go, deciding that it might give her enough willpower to speak then and there.

Of course, as it's hard liquor, she can't help shuddering and sputtering just a little before shaking it off, looking to Ace again. ]

I do not know if I should say, but I would rather not keep this from you anymore. Ace, what do you know of a man named Battler?

[ She frowns at the empty glass then, tilting it and watching the little droplet left following the angle as she continues. ]

He recently came out of hiding, seeking help. I went after him, fully intending to kill him for what he had done. I had my sword at his throat, but... I just... I didn't. I let him walk away.
