[Private Action - "Here Comes the Boom" bounty: February 4th]
[Tracing this particular target was harder than he thought. He did need some kind of challenge, at least, so it was a welcome change of pace. Not that any of the bounties lately have been catching his eye, since they really aren't worth the trouble.
With the aid of his trusty butterfly mask, Gale was able to stroll down the streets of Attleton without general suspicion should the perpetrator have been in the area. He had a different plan for this bounty - get the intel he needed and get his mask to recognize traces of gas leaks - and then let "Kharon" take it from there. Gale knew he would stand out eventually, especially if he's found hanging around the crime scenes. Once he got what he needed, he would lay low, and let that worm get comfortable to come out of the woodwork again. They were no doubt hiding after the papers brought light to the incidents.
After a few days, he made his move. In his holographic disguise, he went out at night - because what criminal would be stupid enough to do this shit during the day - and stuck to the shadows. With his helmet having the same tech as his mask, he was able to easily get visuals on the streets around him, and he paid close attention to the gas markers that appeared on the HUD. Some were easily identifiable as basic uses that quickly went away, like someone lighting their stoves.
After hours of staking the place out, one in particular eventually caught his eye. He made haste to the location, and he spotted a suspicious marker appear on his HUD. That definitely didn't belong to someone that resided in that place. He kept close tabs on the person as they hastily made their escape. While he wanted to go and catch them now, making sure that particular home wasn't another victim was probably more of the current priority.
Luckily, all that would take was a quick sneak over, a peer into the basement and a quick plug of ice magic over the leak until he caught the bastard and could properly alert the family. Magic was a nice thing to have since it meant he didn't even need to tamper with the evidence at the basement door.
But after that? He didn't lose sight of that marker. His quarry wasn't getting away.
Satisfied with his temporary leak fix, he immediately made chase. Unfortunately for them, cyborg legs worked better than human legs. Catching up to them before they got to their getaway vehicle was a breeze. He slowed down to a walk once he was a short distance behind the fleeing perpetrator. This became even more of a breeze when Gale unsheathed the rapier at his side and twirled it, stabbing the tip of it into the ground- in a flurry of snowflakes, his targets legs were frozen to the pavement.
They let out a panicked cry as they looked around and desperately tried to free themselves from the ice, all the while Gale hummed and grabbed their shoulders, yanking them back to look at him as he grinned, pointing the tip of his rapier to their neck. He leaned in close, speaking in a sing song voice in their ear.]
Do you enjoy ruining peoples' lives? It would just be a shame if someone did the same to you, now wouldn't it?
[He didn't care to let them even try to reply- A well placed pommel strike to the neck, and his prey was out like a light. The ice shattered and they fell to the ground, while Gale stood over them and hummed.
Now he just had to call one of the authorities and collect his money.]
This is so boring.
[February 14 - Video]
[Gale was in a foul mood.
Maybe it was lingering feelings from the incidents with Orlok, or it was because he remembered that it was one of his sister's birthday recently. Or maybe was it the text with Ayame the previous night. Perhaps it was the complete and utter waste of time that was that "auction" - he didn't know. He's living his life in a rut, and he didn't like it. Alternating days between After Life and Hangar Queen, doing his work for Aster Tech in the back rooms, then dote on his dogs at home. The only thing that broke up the monotony were bounties, and even those were growing stale.
An antsy Gale was never a good Gale.
Allen was gone, which meant there wasn't anyone who knew who or what Kharon was. Kharon's original purpose was falling through, so he'd might as well make use of it to do things that Gale didn't want he, himself doing. Plus Gale didn't want to make stealing Eichhorn tech a complete waste of time, so he might as well make use of it more often.
So there's a blond guy with a massive scar on the right side of his face appearing on the video feed tonight, and he's decked out in some pretty fancy armor. He's sitting in a booth at Hangar Queen, his feet up on the table with one leg crossed over the other, holding a drink that happens to be on fire in his hand. And, thanks to that godsend of a voice changer that Allen supplied him with, he sounds absolutely nothing like Gale would.]
So what's the mercenary life like in this place? And I don't mean the boring ass bounties that any random schmuck can do. I mean actual mercenary work.
I'm askin' for a friend.
