Video; The Previous Night
[It was quite late in the evening.
Okay, maybe it was 9:00. Good girls should be getting their beauty sleep, but this one was restless. She sat beside the window of her room, gazing out at the night sky. Not much can really be seen because of the hustle and bustle of this city, but the moon was visible and brilliant.
Anastasia seemed to have a bit on her mind, which is why she turned her device on, to find someone to talk to. Those who can see her young face can see there are traces of sadness in her blue eyes.]
"I hope I'm not bothering anyone, but I have a question... How do you honor your friends who have left this world?"

The sound of a now-somewhat-familiar voice catches her attention and she picks up her device, but then the question comes out, and for a moment, she just stops. It's not hard for her to guess that Anastasia probably isn't referring to Genessia here.
After one moment, though, she does answer.]
Back home, I was taught that you keep celebrating their birthday if y'know when it is, and you basically jus' spend their day doin' the sort of stuff you know they'd wanna do. But if what they'd do isn't your thing, then you'd do whatever feels right to you as long as it helps you remember 'em.

"As someone who has experienced this more than once, there are things I do the same way and some that I do differently. But, being entirely honest with you, one of my pets and a dear member of my 'family' of sorts at home had arrived here, once. After a short time, she vanished without a trace. For a while, I felt as if fate was cruel enough to extend a piece of my old life to me, only to snatch it away too soon."
For a moment, even Satori's feeling a little saddened by remembering such things. She does, however, continue.
"On the other hand, there have been those who've come to this world, left, and then returned after some time. Their stay with you may be short, but their departing might not always be forever, either."
After a while, she hazards a small smile for Anastasia, oddly kind for such a reclusive youkai.
"The way my sister and I honour them reflects this: we mourn for the way they are missing from our lives, but we are prepared to wait and hope that they will return. Remember your friends as they were, here, and be glad for the time you shared. If you can speak enough kindness about them, now, that is honour enough."

"That's a good one. I didn't celebrate her birthday properly because the sadness of her not being here hurts too much. But I will be sure to do it next year."

"It must hurt especially bad if they return, and they remember you as fondly as you of them. I dread how this may happen, and I wonder how one would go about life should they return and not remember you.
Regardless if she ever returns, remembering me or not, I chose to honour my best friend by stargazing every chance I get, the same as how we got to know each other at the planetarium."

She almost asks if the person in question had departed recently, because she's getting that impression now, but it's really not her place to do so, not with not really knowing Anastasia beyond the past couple times they've spoken.]
If you've got anythin' in particular you know they'd want you t'do, I'd include that in whatever else you end up deciding to do for it, too.

[It's been roughly a year, but it still hurts when this time of the year rolls around]
video;
It's kind of different for many people. Some people remember the dead by having shrines in peoples homes. I know the people who do leave here aren't dead or anything, they just go home, but it's always a nice idea for some people to remember them.
[He paused for a moment.]
But I don't do that personally. I just always keep the times we had together in my heart and always remember what they did to help me. So long as what they taught you sticks around, you are still remembering them. That and I kept someone that the person I remember and I worked on together.
video;
[Mostly because he wouldn't have been able to achieve a lot he had here without that reminder of that person regardless.]
I pretty much learn from those I care about, take that into account and keep improving myself from it. All the time I always keep that person in mind wondering if they would be happy at what I've achieved or not. Or if they would be as grumpy as ever. It's that or just name pokemon after them if I think they suit it enough.
Re: video;
"Hmm... Perhaps I should consider naming my Sylveon after Sakura..."
video;
[Says the guy who named his second dog after his former boss.]
But I guess it could also depends on what kinda person you're missing. Keepin' memories alive could just be the best thing.
[He's not much help... but he also seems to have trouble with friend related issues at times.]
Re: video;
You're not the first one to suggest naming something in honour of someone, so I think I'll do just that."
[She calls her Sylveon over, and it pokes her head up into view, rubbing it's cheek against Anastasia's.]
"What do you think? Do you want to be called Sakura from now on?"
"Vie-on~"
video;
That seems appropriate.
You knew Sakura too, huh?
Re: video;
"Yes. She was my best friend. We met in Nova two years ago after the barriers broke, and we went to the planetarium to look at the stars together."
Re: video;
[Speaking of Skitty, he was unsure where they were right now. Last he recalled a couple minutes ago she was batting a ball. Fai goes away from the camera for a moment to quickly fetch the pink cat.]
Sakura-chan~ Where do you think you are going?
[It was hard to tell what was going on since the view didn't show either one of them. But it wasn't long before he was back with Sakura the skitty in his arms. She cat seemed happy to be cuddled.]
This is Sakura-chan for me. I named her that after certain memories we had in one world and I called her Little Kitty. So it fit to name this cat as such.
Re: video;
[She never intended to find something to do to honour Sakura, only to see how others would honour their friends. She is glad to happen upon this.]
video;
[But at this point it's been three years for him for at least two of them, he very much doubted that was ever going to happen.]
If it helps someone even if one thinks it's awkward, one should still do it. Better than the alternative.
video;
She was one of the first people I met here. One of the ones I was the most fond of, actually.
[He was a bit of an emotional wreck for a while when she vanished. There still was a lingering sting in his heart because of it. He let out a laugh.]
I got chewed out by her day one, actually. Can't say I didn't deserve it.
Sorry, feeling a bit under the weather x_x;
She offers a solemn nod to the girl. She understands this fairly well, to an extent. A few people she knew in this realm had vanished, many humans she'd met had died, many pets had moved on, changed hands, and so on.
"In my world, many believe in the idea that the soul of one who has departed returns to a cycle of reincarnation - to live again, reborn in a different body or circumstance. In some ways, that's much what it's like to be here. And perhaps, whether such a thing is true or not where you come from, it is some small comfort."
Satori notices a cat curling up on her lap mid-sentence, scritching its head affectionately. As it purrs and nuzzles against her hand, she continues, her voice perhaps just a touch kinder.
"To hope that a loved one will return, whether changed or the same is yet another worry that's all too common. But it does not hurt to cling to hope or to wish for the best. What matters the most is that they will not be forgotten."
Re: video;
She was one of the first people I met, also.
[She was emotionally drained as well. She wore black in mourning for a good, long while.]
Chewed out? I don't understand.
[She still has a poor grasp on slang or figures of speech.]

[Cling to hope... This somehow reminded her of a small birthday present. The 'Best friends' locket she got from Sakura. She was still wearing it and she gently held it in her hand.]
"No matter how big or small, they will live on as long as we remember them."
video;
[What with threatening to kill someone he knows at home publicly and originally calling Weiss a 'prissy rich girl' and all. He was emotional, dammit. He couldn't help it.]
She did help me ease into the place though. Once she'd calmed me down, anyway.
