Hello everyone. As some of you may have noticed, there have been a few... questions about the future of Schnee Company lately. Whitley, my brother, will be leading the company as CEO as part of a mutual agreement we both signed some time ago. My father, on the other hand, will be enjoying some form of retirement for the time being.

[ Her words are clearly carefully chosen as she speaks, but it doesn't make her intent any less clear. Jacques is a very different person than she is, which means her tone on certain words expresses a lot more than the words themselves at certain points, though enough that she's sure her father's not going to notice she's being a little rude. ]

I hope none of you choose to judge him too harshly for his initial reaction. He had elected to... attach himself to something familiar as many people here have in the past upon arrival. Some seek out their friends, others- even Guardians the people have elected in the past reacted violently until they realized they didn't need to, and others immediately open subarchways to give themselves a little taste of home. Father dedicated a significant portion of his life to the direction [ overtaking and dictatorship of ] of Schnee Dust Company [ her life and her family's lives and also the company and hundreds of people she doesn't know ] back in Atlas and as such, I don't think anyone can blame him for wanting a sense of normalcy after being kidnapped and forced into a strange world, nor should you hold him in contempt [ but please hold him accountable ] for some.. stress-induced communication mishaps [ asshole yelling outbursts ] that he may have expressed. [ Exploded into. ] We've maturely discussed [ screamed at each other ] his, my, and Schnee Company's future and while I appreciate the overwhelming amount of support everyone's offered me, I'm asking you to please not hold it against him.

[ That part certainly seems heartfelt. She cannot fight the war on crime if she is fighting everyone versus her father. ]

That said, I have been intending to announce Whitley's succession of Schnee Company for some time. Please offer my brother congratulations and treat him as well as you have me so I can focus my full attentions on protecting Nova City and its people. As a part of our agreement, my brother will still be funding the deputy project to help keep Nova City safer than it's ever been.

[ And then she forgets to lock the last part to its intended recipient. Listen, she's got a lot on her plate right now and while she's handling all of that expertly, her personal life is easily the part that she's learning to relax on and unfortunately she isn't used to needing to hide it. There's even the sound of a bit of shuffling, then her voice definitely goes from business-y to more casual, lighter. The smile in her voice is audible. ]

There's a snow cone vendor outside. I'm heading back soon, I could bring one over for us to split? They have cherry red, blue whatever a Hawaiian is, banana, purple grape, and green apple.

I don't know that I've met your brother, but do pass on my congratulations to him regardless.

He's got a good mind for business and I'm hoping that he'll experience the benefits of responsibility without severe oversight.

[ Another diplomatically-phrased statement, but she really does have good intentions with Whitley. It's her father she's still worried about. ]

Yes, I'm certain he'll do just fine. Everyone has to grow up and take responsibility eventually, right?

I spoke with your father, you know, when he arrived. Charming man, really. I do hope he enjoys his retirement.

I know. [ There's a little smile on her lips. ] Honestly, I.. seeing everyone's conversations with him before he came to see me were the reason I was able to stand up to him. Things did get a little heated in our "mature discussion" and admittedly, even if I have less of a temper than he does I wasn't exactly pulling punches, but I think he at least understands that even he can't beat a legally binding contract that states Whitley isn't allowed to let him anywhere near the company or our home. He also said he respected me at the end of our argument, so that was.. new.

[ She's not really sure how she feels. She's not sure if he was just trying a new tactic because for the first time in her life she didn't yield to him even though she was scared. Weiss knew she had people behind her, who wouldn't let him take everything from her. He couldn't just lock her in her room now, but part of her really, really wanted to believe him. It was probably a dangerous want, but she isn't sure what to do about it. She can't exactly keep arguing with him if he's agreed to her wishes, and the fact that he finally seems like he's hearing her... ]

Hopefully he'll keep his word and remain civil with everyone. [ Including her. ]

I'll hope with you, then.

[ He smiles, slightly sad. He knows those mixed feelings well, and while he was never able to fully forgive his father, he had at least reconciled with him before his death. ]

I...know living with a father like him is difficult, Weiss, but it's better than the alternative, and you are not alone.

I know. It's just... a lot more difficult when skipping continents isn't an option. Perhaps I'll go see if there are any subarchways with hidden islands I can build a secret beach house on in case I ever need a place to breathe.

[ Running from Father seems like a lot more reasonable than some of the conversations she knows they have yet to have. This was the easy one. ]

I...did not hold anything against your father. Rather, I can understand the position he's in. The high position in his own world...although I'm not sure what kind...as well as the pride in his offspring for following in his footsteps. That was something I could relate to...as a...father...

[He chokes on his words a bit, as if it was something he regretted.]

[ He chuckles. ]

I find friendship to be the most able shelter, Weiss, and if you ever have need of it, you know where to find me.

I appreciate that.

[ Though they're not close, so that last part of his words makes Weiss feel more than a little awkward with the implication. ]

Great. I'll have a beach party with only my friends at the secret beach house.

[ She's joking. Which is a good sign, all things considered. ] Thank you, Dorian.

It...was indeed a loss.

[He lets out an exasperated sigh. While he doesn't want to dump everything on her, he still wants to get some things out of his chest.]

Yet, even now, I don't know what I could have done differently. Which is another sign that I was unfit to be a father.

[Although he can't help thinking that this should be a conversation to have with Jacques. At least he'd be able to relate as a fellow father...]

All that's left is to protect what remains.

[Which would soon be nothing if Erebus continues spreading his chaos...but that's another story entirely.]

So does this mean that you are concentrating all of your efforts into being a Guardian and no longer the face of the welcoming committee?

[Oh. Hey. Remember the last time we talked? That was...that certainly wasn't their worst discussion.] Are we sending Jack to the nursing home?

Also, I feel a little awkward saying this but I'll take blue.

For the most part. I'll still be making sure the Genessia Scientific Research Foundation has funding, of course, but that's always been more stress-relieving than anything for me.

[ Organizing and planning events to help ensure that there are funds for researching this place and potentially working on a way to get home or make it possible for those who wish to stay do so? Weiss has gone in there more than once after something stressful has happened and completely reorganized their data just to give herself a chance to do something that makes sense so she can compose herself. No one opposes it, everyone has fun at events, there is no possible reason for it to stress her out. She's not giving that up even if she's made a decision about Schnee Company for both her and her brother's benefit. ]

But there was a reason I left home in the first place, and it was because I knew that running a business and following in my father's footsteps wasn't what I needed to do with my life. I've set up a great framework for a welcoming system and I was able to use the company in a way that benefits the people, via the company's services and by setting up the GSRF and the deputy program with profits from the company. Now I think it's time to move forward and find new ways to help others as City Guardian.

First of all, please call him Mr. Schnee. His name is Jacques and he is my father, so I really don't want to call him by his first name anyway and it's strange to me that you are trying poorly.

[ Just so they're clear on that. Thank god she doesn't have to be diplomatic with Jaune. WAit. ]

[ They've had one conversation before this so Weiss is feeling reaaaally out of place in this conversation right now. This is something you tell a close friend, not someone you barely know. For a brief moment, she takes a breath and has to remind herself that dragons probably have a different culture than she does though. ]

I'm sorry you've been through such hardship. I wish you luck with keeping the rest safe. It's not always an easy task to protect others.

[ No one's losing any jobs. She wouldn't do that to people.

Though next month is another story, but that's because they're going to have to get re-elected. ]

I've found this world to be far safer than my own. Is it because of these...City Guardians? How long have these City Guardians been established?

Given the number of people who specifically target me because they don't listen to the hologram and decide that I'm their enemy, I might suggest to him that he keep me as the face, though if he wants me to re-record it I'll oblige.

[ She doesn't care but Whitley might, so it's up to him. Whitley... doesn't yell at her at least, but he certainly sides with his father. At least Whitley's better at pretending. ]

Pineapple is the best pizza ingredient, why would you specify mutants? Sun and I invented the "Sunshine Pizza" at Geraldi's. [ When she worked there, years and years ago, but she leaves that part out. They're stupid fruit nuts. ] And that.. was intended to be private.

I've never heard you use your father's first name and he's not your father, he's mine. Also, if it took me months to like you, I can guarantee that you're not being thought of as equal. [ She's a lot more straight-forward than her father. That isn't changing just because he's here, even if he sees it he'll probably yell at her. ]

Jaune, do you have any idea what a private conversation is?! [ Trying to defuse tension or not, she's currently incredibly tense. She hasn't talked to her father about Sun yet, she's been trying to figure out how, she really really just has no idea how to go about this and Jaune is publicly announcing that the person he screamed at was, in fact, her boyfriend. Part of her is hoping that he yelled at more than one person just so she's not going to get immediately dumped in a vat of hot oil level trouble. ]

I think there are different reasons for worlds to be safer than others. Mine back home isn't particularly safe either, but I think because it's a small area to defend here it makes the Guardian system and the bounty system very effective for keeping peace, even if there are obviously incidences regardless. At least we're not in an actual war right now. The City Guardian system has been around as long as anyone can remember here, though in the past couple years it seemed to develop a more regular electoral process.
