The poison proved lethal to mages, however, and it was this, along with their sheer brutality and inhumane treatment of prisoners, that led them to be seen less as the freedom fighters they wanted to be recognized as, and more like terrorists.
In that case, it's certainly possible, but without knowing more, I cannot say. Transferring a mind or a soul into another body isn't entirely unheard of, but extraordinarily difficult. I only know of one person who wanted to do it; and apparently, she succeeded.
