Sofia arrived at the center of Nova City, standing at the plaza and taking her sweet time to appreciate it's aesthetic wonders. She may be a fan of the classic, more historical look for a city. But these tall, sleek spires are a marvel to behold as well. It puts a grin on her face, that's for sure. It kind of reminds her of New York. 

"Wow... It's beautiful in here" Sofia gasps in awe of the place. She just found a new hang-out spot. "So, does anyone know a good bar in Nova? I just thought I'd get something to drink after visiting the Museum, the Holoplaza, and the Planetarium. Or maybe it wouldn't hurt to get a few drinks in before. I just applied for a job as a teacher, so I could start being more liberal with my money" Sofia chuckled quietly. She's normally a penny pincher who stays at home all the time, but she's here on vacation. So breaking out her shell once in a while to forget the much heavier things dwelling in the back of her mind is something she needs.

Nova City is where Jim feels most at home as well, if he can truly feel at home anywhere in this place. He doesn't notice Sofia at first, because he's currently gaping at a vending machine. It has tricorders in it. He's been fussing all this time over his stolen Tricorder, and all he had to do was come here and buy it like a can of soda?!

"Well that turned out better than I expected," he murmurs to himself, dropping in the necessary credits to let the little device come sliding down the chute. Still, this sort of thing shouldn't be common, should it? They all came from different worlds, so his technology shouldn't be incorporated so easily.

Why was it?

He turns around, frowning at the tricorder, and very nearly mows poor Sofia down.

"Whoa, hey! Sorry! Hi!" He holds up his hands (and tricorder). "You all right? I didn't flatten you too badly, did I?"

[Sofia got bumped alright, but it was just a light shove to her. She's got pretty good balance and has enough weight to counter the force]

No, you're fine.

[Sofia just chuckled sheepishly, waving it off as no big deal]

You're not the only one with the habit of bumping into strangers while frowning at some gizmo.

Well hey, nice to know we've already got something in common.

[She seems nice. Intelligent, too. These are both very positive qualities that he appreciates.]

[He offers his hand.]

[Her posture is straight and expression is calm, looking like a career woman in her body language. She normally acts like this around men she finds attractive, so good job Kirk]

[So pretty much like any member of his crew. He's okay with this, it just means he needs to be on his good behavior, and not his delinquent drunken punk behavior. Those days are behind him anyway...he hopes.]

Nice to meet you, Sofia. So you...

[He gestures at her necklace.]

[Then Kirk gestures at her necklace]

Kind of. I'm from the early 21st century, so tall buildings and electronic gadgets aren't new to me.

Which planet?

[The 21st century could mean different things to different races; he can't just assume she's a regular human from the same old Earth Jim hails from.]

Earth. I grew up in New York City.

[Her smile beamed with pride. A lot of people have hailed from the Big Apple, and almost everyone has been there. Still, she's proud of her hometown more than anything]

Get out of town!

[That's good news in his ears.]

Iowa. Not quite as flashy as New York, but there's...

[Hm.]

Well, if you like corn, it's not bad.

[Sofia chuckled softly, it's nice to have more people from the same type of Earth around. She already feels a connection with them when she finds out]

I've been to so many countries in our planet but never to Iowa or many states in America. There was one time I could have gone though, but it was for a college football game that I didn't care about.

I don't think you missed out on much scenery-wise, if Iowa back then is anything like the one I grew up in.

[Kirk doubts it. The state seemed like it was one of the slowest to advance, although they did have those nifty shipyards to construct new Starfleet vessels.]

Where are you headed?

Oh, I was looking for a bar to stop in before going to the museum and the other fun places.

[mouth_breather]

Miiiiiiiight want to do the bar last, depending on how much you want to drink...

[He wouldn't want her to get drunk and start ruffling the feathers of all the museum security guards, poor guys.]

Well, just a couple of glasses first. It wouldn't even leave a dent in me.
