5 Lanterns | Video/Action in Everglade

[Rapunzel had figured to try and explore Everglade a bit, even after various things she had been told. Frying pan in hand she had made her way to what appeared to be a vampire invested area, her device having switched on while she wasn't paying attention.

She nervously entered what appeared to be an establishment for vampires to hang out as the moment she came in, they all turned to look at her, the look in their eyes was clear they would consider eating her. Rapunzel was quick to hold out her frying pan, ready to defend herself should she have to before speaking.]

Before you try and eat me, I have a question. It's part of why I am here. [She coughed slightly. They were intimidating and really, really scary, but she took a small breath in trying to calm herself down before speaking.]

I like to believe that, the tough outside is hiding something beneath. I don't think you are bad people, really. I mean... you look scary and have sharp pointy teeth which were things I was always warned about, but from being here I've learnt to not judge by a cover.

[She paused for a moment, one of the vampires had started to move in closer.]

I want to know more about you, what you like to do? What dreams might you have? You know, things like that. I like to believe that you have dreams like I do.

[She gives off a small smile as the one who had been moving stopped, inches away from her. What happens next is something that would baffle everyone who watches. The next thing that happens is the vampires telling her about themselves and what dreams they have and for some vampires their dreams one would not think of from vampires. The even more odd thing was this had somehow turned into a song (similar to this) with Rapunzel happily humming along and even at one point dancing with them.

By the end, Rapunzel seems to have generally warmed up to them as they started to laugh and have fun before the feed switches off. For those in Everglade will hear loud noises coming from the hangout with Rapunzel sitting there still listening to them interested without a care in the world.]

Goodness.

Did you just inspire an impromptu song and dance number about hopes and dreams?!

[Seth is patrolling through Everglade when he hears the music of Rapunzel's song. He ends up standing just outside of the happy song area with his arms crossed over his chest. He doesn't appear to have a care in the world and when the song ends he claps softly.]

That was beautiful.

[He is a creature of light. The dark doesn't frighten him and Seth already knows that in-humans aren't bad by nature. He is, after all, not human.]

Uh... I guess so.

[Honestly she didn't expect it to happen, it just did.]

But it was fun and I got to learn a lot.

[Rapunzel laughed slightly before she finally caught sight of someone she was sure was not there a couple of minutes ago. So making her way over, a smile still on her face.]

Thank you. Though, I just wanted to get to know them. Didn't expect it to turn out that way.

That's amazing! We could all use a bit more music in our lives! That's why I take my guitar with me everywhere I go!

I don't think it would help in every situation, but it did then at least.

Though you play the guitar?

[he cracks up. No really. He's laughing the hardest he ever has. He'd sprain a rib if he wasn't more durable than most]

That was fantastic. I didn't think it would work but it went amazingly. Ah-

[he wipes away a tear] Singing is one thing but pitch perfect harmony. That takes effort.

I didn't even think it was going to go that way.

[The singing was very much unexpected to her if she had to be honest.]

It was a very strange, yet very fun experience.

I'm impressed! Not just as a musician, but to be able to walk into a room full of vampires with only a frying pan to defend yourself? Not to mention you had the courage to say 'before you try and eat me.' which seems almost like an invitation!

[There's a bit of clapping from Mirajane this time around.]

Really good job! If I were a vampire, I'd probably still be tempted to eat you. So watch your neck, okay?

[After all, Mirajane does have some experience with being a monster.]

Uh, thanks. I find that a frying pan if used right can knock a man out, so... I figured it would work the same way.

[To be honest she didn't know what she was saying at the time, she was rather scared and just said it on a whim.]

I will do, but I like to believe they won't.

Aww, you're making so many good friends!

[Okay... Mira probably should be more worried about the kind of friends Rapunzel is making, but since death is sort of just a nuisance here, why worry?]

[ And suddenly, another vampire appears! And she just about caught the whole thing too. ]

Ah? How intriguing! How did you even manage to do that with vampires? We can be rather... stubborn.

[ Say hi to the short, childlike and French accented vampire. ]

I guess they could be considered friends. I didn't see it that way.

[She now thought of it maybe being that way and it was enough to make her smile slightly.]

But I guess that is true.

I honestly don't know.

[It was just a thing that happened and it confused her slightly as well.]

But it was fun.

Really? Now I wonder if they see it that way.

[Mirajane taps her chin thoughtfully, and then merely shrugs.]

Well the point is that you're all getting along well now!

Would've given my eyeteeth to be there. [and see if there was any kind of low level psychic field because, generally speaking, that sort of thing didn't happen without a proper rehearsal first]

I'm sorry you weren't. Though you could probably come over here if you wanted to.

I don't know. Does one ask that type of question?

[She nodded slightly.]

Which is always a good thing, to get along I mean.

You inspire people.

[He puts it rather bluntly.]

But they still need to eat, so please be safe.

[Vampires don't have to kill to live but many do, be it on accident or on purpose.] It's my job to help keep Everglade safe.

Nah. Not much for singalongs. Too... [he makes a shuddery motion] Also vampires and I don't really get on. Long story.

I didn't think of it like that.

[She nodded slightly. She knew that much.]

If they try anything, I got my trusty frying pan.

I think the singalongs have ended, so it probably wouldn't happen again.

[She paused, she wasn't sure why that might be the case, really.]

So I won't ask about the long story.

[Seth's smile softens.]

If not, you are welcome to call me. I can keep you safe and get the vampires the blood that they need.

[Not from himself but there are other ways to get blood.]

Well, it was actually a planet where you had to sing if you wanted anything done. Mind you, I had a hit single once, sort of, but I generally don't. Only because of various reasons and half my companions wandering off [which was why he generally tried to stick to one] I had to find them and to do that I had to ask for directions and if you've ever tried to ask where the next bus stop is in a high c, then you'll know it's not easy.

Oh, maybe I should find out where they get the blood from if not people.

[Because apparently, that was a thing she felt like she needed to know.]

I've never had to ask, but that must hurt your throat after a while.

It's still from people.

[Seth replies evenly.]

Oh really? So they still take it from people and not like other means.

That's right. I've heard stories that some vampires can resist and drink from animals but it depends on the species. Like anything else, there are types. [Seth rolls his shoulders in a shrug, shoving his hands into his pockets.] If a vampire isn't careful then they might even be driven mad and begin killing indiscriminately. They have that same tendency humans do.

[The same as mass murders and other people who Seth sees as low life's.]

Mine? Nah. Sometimes you can just hum a bit and people catch the gist.
... Mostly.

So that can happen if they don't drink. But since there are vampires here, does that mean there are humans who give them blood willingly?

[Instead of by force, which she thought they would do.]

Ah, that's at least a positive anyway.

[She paused.]

At least it doesn't happen much here... except this one time. Unless people want to, of course.

Sometimes. Some vampires can't help but kill the people they drink.

As I said. It depends.

[There are many races of vampires that Seth knows of.]

That's still very sad.

[Pretty much all she can say about that.]

I should really get back to talking with them.

[After a bow, Seth turns to leave.]

In that case I wonder if it was something in the water...

I didn't have water here. So it might not be.

It's a metaphor. Sometimes in some places, certain things leak into the water that can't be detected but make people act unusual. So whether it's true or not, it means that they are acting outside of the norm without any visible outside influence except perhaps yourself.

I didn't really do anything though. At least nothing that I don't do normally.

Who knows. If it happens again, let me know. It'll be interesting to see if anything's changed.

[She nodded slightly.]

Ah, I should go now. It was nice chatting to you.
