[Chiaki was quietly getting ready to go out to work. She had switched on the device as she paused. She had work to do, but there were a good few things that she had realised and well she just wanted to for once try and talk to the public a little bit more. More so after realising she has been here for a year now.]

I hope everyone is having a good day. I know I will be, or at least I hope so if that bounty about the High Score Killer is dealt with. [She had reasons to be somewhat nervous about that given her reputation and known for getting such high scores without meaning to.]

But I realised that today would be a year since I first arrived here and once I realised that, I started to think more about what I have learnt and how I have changed. [She gives a small smile.] Be that the good kind of change and learning or the bad kind, it still is something. [She had put the device down for the moment in order to put her hood up for the moment.]

So it makes me wonder, for those who have been here for as long as I have, how has this place changed you? Has it changed you for the better or for the worst? For those who have been here for only a few months if there have been changes, you can answer as well. [She picked up the device before going to grab her cat backpack and putting it on before picking up her hand held.]

Also... do you have regrets for things that have happened? Happy with friends that you have made? I... am just curious.

[With that she switches off the feed before heading off out. For those in the town of Genessia and Nova City as she walks to work can find Chiaki head in a game, walking and not really paying all that much attention to her surrounds. maybe it would be a good idea to distract her somehow.]

[ He ignores this post initially, but the question it raises sticks with him even after he puts his device away. He can't deny that he's not the same Mercury Black that initially arrived at Genessia - though he's not entirely different, either. He still has an attitude about him, still throws sass at others without hesitation, and he doesn't exactly feel regret for most of the awful things he's done.

But he doesn't want to do them again. He still enjoys fighting and hurting, but he wants to direct that productively. He's had some people he actually grew to give a shit about, some people he wanted to protect - and now as one of Nova City's co-guardian he protects that entire population.

And he might feel a little proud of that.

So finally he decides to reply, turning on his own video. ]

It changed both ways, at some point. Some better, some worse. Suddenly having complete independence will do that, I guess.

I've been here for three years. I was still in middle school when I first arrived. I'm taller now.

I can't get away with being as lazy as I was at home.

I treasure the friends I made here. I miss the ones who went back home.

I've always had independence before I found myself here.

[The school pretty much let them do whatever they wanted, so long as they continued to do something with their talents. But even there Chiaki knew she had changed a bit and even here, she was sure that she was getting better at not being isolating to herself.]

But being here and knowing what I know about my life back home now... I guess helped me be more determined to have those close friends. Was that the same for you?

Three years is a very long time.

So I assume you have changed in the way of being less... lazy.

I don't have any regrets here, but I have a couple of friends... It's hard when they go but it's nice to have met them. Hey, do you know a girl named Adela?

Not exactly. Back home I was always under someone, following orders.

[ His dad, for most of his life. Cinder, after that. Cinder was certainly better to work for, that's not even a question, but it wasn't the same as actually being free to do as he chose. That was an opportunity he really only had for the first time here.

So I guess this weird place gave me a chance to find out who I am when I'm not forced to answer to anyone.

[ He thinks his physical growth is the most obvious change.]

There's a lot of stuff I never had to deal with at home.

[ Thrawn had a theory that featured Chiaki as the High Score Killer, but since she didn't seem to enjoy death on any level he hadn't voiced it. ]

All beings have regrets. The more important question then becomes do those regrets cut deeper than you can bear.

[Chiaki sits and listens, for once her focus was fully on the device for the moment. it did make her wonder what their life must have been like before they had found themselves here, but she refrained from asking, thinking maybe it would be a bit rude.]

I think that's great. But I am curious if you hadn't of been here do you think you could have been able to find that out?

You mean all the strange things this world brings or is it something else?

[Because for her it was the first thing.]

I don't think people really need a party for something like that.

[Because it's just a reminder for some people that they haven't been home in that long. Although for her it's a different matter because she can't go home no matter how much she would wish it.]

That I agree with. It being hard when they do leave, more so if they are people you were very close to. As for the girl... I don't think I knew someone with that name, but I would need to really think about it.

And that all depends on the person. I mean I don't let what I might have regrets for cut me too deep because there is always that possibility that what I regret might come up for me to do something about it.

But I guess it might not be the same and it all depends on the regret.

Parties are great. I think you should have a party for everything. Or at least food.

Oh... Well never mind. She was just pretty cool. Too bad you never got to meet her.

Depends on the kind of party. There are certain situations where such a thing is just inappropriate. Though with every situation... I guess food works.

[She paused for a moment.]

It is too bad. I wish I had.

My first job and relationship were here. Also, no trauma at home.

[ He figures most people in Genessia have had traumatic pasts.]

My first job was here as well. No first relationship though.

[It was never something she ever thought about until recently anyway.]

But at least back in your home, there wasn't trauma at least not the kind that we get here.

Exactly. Same here. But I see it as a much harder obstacle to overcome. Much like a video game.

Yeah. This place does have a lot in common with video games but with real consequences.

That is the major different really. But those characters in games dealt with consequences and so will we.

Mostly. It's rare when they acknowledge the effects of revival.

That is a good point, though... Never personally revived here.

...I also hope to keep it that way.

But for now, I will take this place a day at a time and hope nothing too dangerous happens again.

Yeah maybe. Sometimes you gotta have one, just to raise your spirits. Even in the darkest times it's a good idea to find something to celebrate. [though that was easier said than done]

I get that, but I still think there would be moments where you just can't regardless. Like if there was a death or something.

Maybe, we can never really know 100% if someone might or not. You just have to have hope.

Nah death-- like... I don't know I think after that you at least gotta... do something. Pour sake or... try to be happy. Even if you don't want to be. Because you're still alive. And as long as you're alive you can keep moving forward...

I get that, but at least one day of mourning is good for people. Because at least on the first day it would be hard to do things like that if it's someone close to you or something.
