Who: River Song and you! (With a closed thread for Ten)
What: An open log!
Where: River is a wanderer, so if you want to find her somewhere, find her there!
Warning: Flirting. All the flirting.
[River was restless. It was something that she couldn't help, and was one of the reasons that she'd gotten into so much trouble when she was teenage Mels. Granted, she'd outgrown stealing buses and sports cars (probably) but she was used to her vortex manipulator and stealing the TARDIS when she needed to. Being landlocked here was annoying and frustrating, so she wandered. At least if she was wandering then she wasn't sitting still waiting for something to happen here.
It always felt like something was on the cusp of happening here to River.
Of course, she is often found at the home she shares with her parents and the Doctor(s), because she promised to try and be home for dinner. And then there was the fact that she was teaching, so River could be found in her classroom, or in her office with a smile and a cup of tea for students who were enthusiastic about learning. River was a great teacher, so she often found herself having people who wanted to chat.
But be it a bar or out in the woods, she was getting to learn the entire world as much as she could so that it would be as familiar to her as the grounds around Leadworth.]

For 10!
Of course, she kept it loose in her hand and by her side, because she didn't want another lecture about carrying a gun. At least a few Doctors didn't mind it so much, but she knew that this one did.
But her keen eye moved over how rough he looked, and that was the only reason that River approached him with concern in her eyes. They were meant to be staying away from one another, yes, but this situation was different and it caused her to break that promise. She stood next to him and kept her voice low, in case he was still in the middle of whatever had marked him up like this.
Sometimes River could be safe after all.]
Are you alright, Doctor?
[No sweetie, no nothing like that. No flirting, just concern and his name.]
A little before dinner

There was a small part of her that wanted to say 'not fish fingers and custard' because while she loved her mother and her Doctors, there were just some things that still didn't go together in her mind.
no subject
No, no fish fingers and custard tonight. Though she was trying to learn to make Yorkshire pudding.

Fine. Brillant. Just fine.
[Emotionally no. But not because of this and physically - he's getting there. He's not going to stop even if he's walking a bit strange. At least - well they took care of the robots with the guns.]

But not as simple as roast. "I can help peel and cut if you'd like. That bit I'm good at." Peeling and cutting, not so much having the patience to sit still and wait for the food to be finished. That was the boring bit and River didn't do the boring bits as much as her husbands and parents didn't.

[It's said calmly as if it's the most natural thing in the world for her to come across a bleeding and rather oddly walking Doctor. Which given everything else, seems like a distinct possibility. Lowering her gun to slip it into the holster at her back (where River could quickly grab it if needed) she stepped closer and offered him a hand.
And more than a hand, she was offering him an ear and a smile as well. Because he simply didn't look at all like he should. He didn't look like anyone should, honestly and that's the bit that bothered her the most.]
Let me help you back to the medical bay in the TARDIS. I think you need a scan of that leg.
And if this were on my Donovan journal, there would be a joke about it being an appealing task.
She was debating bringing up the party to River, but wasn't sure what she would think about the idea...

[Then stops to cringe - hard at the pain]
Could have been worse.
[Like somewhere fatal and pauses and seems to be debating about taking her hand. Considering - he's so emotionally wrecked inside. A little better but still damaged. He wants to run - run where he doesn't know. After a moment or two- does take her hand. She can help him like this but he's not so sure about emotionally bonding and giving her any problems - because if she can't tell - he's a kicked dog in that sense and afraid to let anyone else in. He just better not see her gun or he'll scream at her and limper off]
Lol.
"So how's work been, mum?"

For a moment, she wonders if she can share some of the regeneration with him that the Doctor with the bow tie had used on her in Manhattan, but she doesn't want to try it, and she also doesn't want to give him any more glimpses into his future than he already has had. She doesn't press about the injuries, but she does ask softly:]
You sure you don't want to try the hospital, Doctor?

"And you too of course. Make it a large family affair. We'll bring dad along to make sure someone is practical about things."

Yes.
[Ten states quickly with an underlining of pain in his voice. He doesn't like the hospital. Especially with bullets in him because that brings back, bad memories of Seven being shot in the chest and the surgery killing him and not the bullets]

[Which wasn't something River ever normally did, but she didn't want the temptation to go and visit her mother, so it sat in her nightstand. Not that she needed to sleep much of course, but she still had her bedroom. But for now, she's focused on him and the pain that he's feeling and she wishes, not for the first time when it comes to him, that she'd not used up all of her regeneration energy years ago.
For a moment, she just pauses when she hears the ping of what can only be a bullet hitting the ground, and she keeps her hand on him when she pokes it with her toe.]
How many more bullets do you have inside, Doctor?

Popping a bit of carrot in her mouth, River went back to chopping. "So who all is coming 'round for dinner?"

Just the shoulder.
[He could take himself the rest of the way now and is debating if he should because he shouldn't be attaching himself to more people - but he does need help outside of Martha and Jack or rather Jack at the moment and wearing him down isn't fair. He's emotionally twisted up inside and feels damned either way]

The quicker we pop them out, the quicker you'll heal and the less pain you'll be in.
[It's just said entirely matter-of-fact, from a woman whose needed to say similar things hundred of times over her life. That's what happens when you're River Song and out in the universe.
Without waiting to ask him, River just steers him towards a bench, taking a deep breath as she did it.]
It'll hurt less to cut them out than to let them work out too.

No. I'm not going to the hospital. Martha isn't there.
[No matter how much he winces or grinds his teeth in pain and then proceeds to run off and running to one side as he's leaning into the shoulder that is in pain. So he might be a bit slower]
no subject
Oh my god sometimes you're such an idiot. I wasn't going to take you to the hospital, I was going to cut it out myself. That's why I wanted you to sit!

He is a bit tired from having pushed out the one in his knee himself but - this is a bad path he's starting on if he doesn't take her offered help either. There's a deep sigh and side glances back before slowly walking back towards River]

"Excellent. If nothing else I'll make sure sunglasses gets some. His office is just down the hallway from mine." And it's probably where she sees him the most though she doesn't say it.
no subject
[river knows that deep sigh, and she makes one herself as she comes to meet him halfway once more. Quickly she offers him her arm to take some of his weight and she is stronger than she would appear. Her voice is soft when she speaks.]
Doctor, you help everyone else. Sometimes you need to let people help you. It doesn't need to be a whole production of concern. It doesn't mean anything other than a stranger helping you out.

She wend into the cabinets for a bigger pot.
