[A teenage girl pops up on the feed. She's currently wringing the water out of her socks. She's a little wet after having tripped once or twice on her way out of the Bay. She's not exactly the most alert when she first wakes up.]

Honestly, while the booby trapped welcome hologram was super helpful. Don't you think some of the budget could have been spent on draining the water out of the weird cocoon room? It's not that big of a stretch, is it?

[She turns toward the camera.]

Anyways. I'm Gwen and I'm new here, I guess? Honestly, I'm pretty freaking hungry right now, what's the best place to get some food? Preferably on the cheap side. Starving artist here.

[Yang's usually busy when these types of calls come in, but she likes Gwen's snark. Fellow blondes have to stick together in these tough and trying times! So she answers, putting down the dustrag and hauling herself onto the newly-cleaned countertop of her kitchen.]

[She grins.]

You know, I never really got the water thing either. At least it's clean, I guess!

[Food, huh... Yang's head tips to the side, her ponytail swinging with the motion.]

Actually I could use a break from all this cleaning, you want to catch a bite? There's a pizza place I remember being pretty good, wouldn't mind seeing if it still holds up!

[There's a hint of a smile as Gwen realizes how easy it would be to make a wang joke.

She manages to suppress the urge for now.]

Yeah, same to you.

[Okay. Time to throw her sneakers back on.]

That's a good point. I think it may have been cleaner than the tap water I get back home.

[Shots fired at New York.]

Pizza? I think I may have just found my new best friend and I just rescued her from hard work.

[Now that she's actually thinking about pizza, the urge to eat it is all-consuming.]

Give me a few minutes to wash up and I'll be right there. You want me to bring you anything? I mean, this place just kinda picks you up and drops you in without the essentials.

What can I say? Barely an hour into a strange new world and I'm already a hero.

[She considers that for a moment. She's got her back pack with her but that's filled with all her spider gear. ...She might want to hide that for awhile until she gets settled in. That could be awkward to explain.]

Dry socks would be great? I did my best with these but they're still pretty soggy. If there's like a Value Village around I can pick up the basics.

Do you honestly think messing with the weird cocoon room when we don't even fully understand he weird cocoon room is the best idea?

There are street vendors that sell food that really isn't terrible. I'm not sure what cheap food is the best, though.

[ Frowns, thinking. ]

You know, you look kind of familiar.

That's not super important. What matters is that it's covered in grease and fills my belly.

... There's a food truck which usually appears south of the park in Genessia City, b'tween ten o'clock and three am.

They've got falafel, gyro, Greek stuff.

So, y'can do veggies one night, meat another, skip the pita another day if it's gonna be too heavy.

Still gotta worry 'bout the grease on an empty stomach, but it's a lot less than a hot dog.

So. Where I'm from you're the CEO of a major coffee corporation. They've got red cups with pictures of your beard on it.

I just picked up a bunch of new socks, so I'll toss you a pair. It can be like a welcoming gift!

[A whoosh of deft hands and she holds up two choices.]

More like I have years of experience being the disappointer instead of the disappointee, but sure. I think you're the first person ever to say I'm doing the adult thing right so I'm going to take that and run with it.

Well I wouldn't want to take that away from you. I'll make you an official adult diploma that you can hang up on your mantle all adult like. As a charming way to ask forgiveness after I'm done disappointing you.

I'm more curious why you feel the need to plaster your beard over everything. It's a little weird.

[Her name's Gwen and she looks a lot like the Gwen Stacy murdered by the Green Goblin some years ago. Lots of heroes back home know about her, him included. When Marc speaks, there's nothing to suggest he knows her.]

Bright Sky Diner on Ulmos and 9th? Nothing like a burger and fries to keep your feet on the ground.

[Don't mind her as her mouth literally starts to water at that.]

Mmmmmmm... I'm definitely going to hit that place up at some point.

I'm usually on a bit of a tight budget so the stomach has to be handle what ever grease I throw at it. This is a huge help on that front.

[The only that could peg her as different from that Gwen would be age. Which doesn't really help when you end up in a place like Genessia.]

Is there a map of this place handy? I probably should have grabbed those brochures the hologram lady was talking about.

[Come to think of it, she does look older than the Gwen Stacy he knew of. Clone? Alternate universe? Never actually died and went underground? He stops his mind from racing with the possibilities and just rolls with it.]

More like 'definitely.' [He shrugs with the smallest grin.] Then again, there's no shortage of people willing to point you in the right direction. That's probably the best part of being here.

[ Small nod. ]

I get that.

Place like this, though. Lot easier to find work and decent money than most.

[ Shrugs ]

Dunno if you saw, but there's a free apartment they give ya for the first month. One less thing drainin your cash, anyhow.
