WHAT: Battler has something he wants to say!!!

[after his conversation with lucy, there was something very important he wanted to ask. lucy was his friend, someone he already found to be very special, he wanted to sort out a big issue here!! love is a fragile thing, a heart cannot be tampered with, these are things he really believes in!

SO! it had taken him a couple days since talking with her, but he was going to ask a certain natsu some questions. he knew there might be others in this place that would hear him, but he didn't care! this was essential!! this is all for a lovely maiden!

when battler arrived on the scene, he didn't bother knocking (and he ignored the hole in the wall) so he simply opened the doors with an epic push. he walked in, pointed and if someone really listened they might be able to hear his theme music start playing.

....okay maybe not that, but hey it would be cool.]

Stop, stooooppppp!! I have something I need to ask, I need to talk to Natsu-san! Everyone, listen uuuuppp! This is a very serious matter which cannot be ignored!

[Being the resident guild dad ~~and not at all acting in the capacity of Guild Master, shut up~~ Gildarts was instantly pinged by the newcomer's attitude. ...And something told him that if he let this kid shoot his mouth off to Natsu, the salamander would send the kid home with more than just singed hair.]

Why don't you come and have a seat at the bar, kid. ...And you might want to keep your voice down.

[Someone might have a hangover after all.]

I will not keep my voice down! This is a matter of some serious feelings...! Or at least, I think it is.

[he was a detective before, he could get down to the bottom of this!]

[Gildarts will just get up from his seat at the bar, walk over next to Battler and use his mechanical arm to steer him toward the bar. ...None to gently either. Also, have a death glare.]

You will keep your voice down. Some of us have hangovers.

[MANHANDLED?! well, okay then! but battler pulls himself away from this man, taking a step back.]

Hold on, I came here to ask Natsu-san something! I promised Lucy-san I would.

Yeah, and as the oldest member of the guild here, I feel it kinda falls on me to intercept people who come barging into a Wizard Guild hall, shouting at the top of his lungs, and demanding to speak to the only one of us who can breathe fire.

Trust me, I've known Natsu since he was about knee-high. I can pretty much tell you whatever you want to know.

[man, if only he still had powers. he used to be able to summon armies.]

..Hmm... no no, this is a matter that needs to be spoken to his face. I want to ask him what his intentions are with Lucy-san.

Yeah, well, you got me. Whatever it is, you talk t--wait...

[Once it registers with him what Battler's talking about he just starts laughing.]

You come in here, yellin' at the top of your lungs, because of that? Trust me, I don't even think Natsu knows.

...What do you mean....? Is he really that oblivious....?!

[even battler could see what was going on!!]

Ya gotta understand... Natsu wasn't raised like a normal kid.

[He moves back to the bar, taking a seat and motioning Battler to join him.]

We've got three in our guild like that. Natsu, Wendy, and Gajeel. They are all what our world calls "First Generation Dragon Slayers." They use magic that is uniquely tailored to fight dragons. Centuries ago, when dragons fought each other over the fate of humanity, that magic was a gift to humans in an effort to allow humanity to survive.

The only way to be taught Dragon Slayer magic without the use of a Lacryma is to be taught... by a dragon. Those three were raised by dragons and don't have the same boundaries as others. While Wendy and Gajeel are more adjusted...

Just imagine growing up sleeping next to a fire dragon every day of your life. Sleeping in a bed by yourself would feel awfully cold, y'know?

[and battler will join!! he could use a father figure like this man, he can sense it already! ...but that might also be because his family is deeaaaddd.]

Oohh... dragons? Really?

[he didn't hear anything about that while he was in purgatory! that's a new one. except, there was that time he fought a summoned version of kinzo and he turned into a dragon... only for battler to stop him with his epic logic.

Mmm... yeah, I can see that. Aahh even so-! I can tell... I just know! I think they'd be great together so they just need to realize!

[Gildarts just chuckles as he takes a drink from the beer he was drinking before.]long story later, and... we found Lisanna again, so... there's that.

Don't worry, Natsu's got as pure a heart as it comes. He's been through so much in his life, both good and bad, and no matter what the world throws at him, he refuses to let go of what most people would call "childlike" innocence.

[He takes a long drink.] I swear that boy is going to be the best mage our world could possibly produce.

[And Gildarts couldn't be prouder. ...Well, maybe unless Cana beat him in a fight.]

[...battler wants booze. he hasn't had it in so long!! but yeah either way-]

That's good.... [battler nods to himself, crossing his arms.]

....I have a sister. It was... a little complicated at the time, kind of hard to explain, but I've always been overprotective of people that are close to me. Guess I might have... done that with Lucy-san, even though we haven't been talking very long.

Anyway, one time a guy was hitting on my sister and I... well, I nearly kicked the shit out of him for even touching her. I've learned to talk it out instead of harassing the guy over it, however. I just know how a man functions and operates, what he thinks about...! I don't want any ill intentions like that towards someone I care about!

T'be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Natsu was in the dark about what sex even entailed, but I know the feeling. I've got a daughter myself... again, nice and complicated there but... I gotta admit, Cana's one of the best looking ladies in the guild, and she knows it.

The idea of someone hitting on my little girl is... unsettling, to say the least. But, there's one thing you gotta understand about this guild. Most guilds are built like businesses. Jobs come in, wizards are assigned jobs, money exchanges hands, etc. Some are built with the sole purpose of being strong, where there's constant competing among the members... but this guild?

[He grins, turning his back to the bar, and grinning out at the relatively empty hall than he's used to, echos of parties, brawls, Makao and Wakaba's discussions, all the antics that made Fairy Tail unique flooding into his mind.]

This guild is the biggest, and closest family you'll ever meet. If any one so much as makes Lucy uncomfortable, they'll be answering to me.

[He takes the now empty mug from his metal hand and places it into his other one, where it promptly explodes as if it had been hit by a truck.]

But I won't be the first in line. Erza, Gray, and Wendy are all ahead of me there. And at the front of that line, whose wrath would make the fires of Hell seem like a nice sauna, would be Natsu. He's not gonna do anything to make her uncomfortable, and anyone who does is as good as dead, so long as he's around.

[oh wow. this guy means business too.]

...You guys...

[heh. battler has to admit, he's really impressed. never has he ever seen a tightly knight family such as this. never. even his own family, which he loved and cherished so much, none of them trusted one another. it was always like that with each family conference, but that was why battler chose to hang out with cousins instead of the adults.]

Hahhh- I might even be a little jealous of that kind of tightly knit family.. [he looked down, smiling to himself.] But as long as that's the case, then I feel better than before I came in here.

[He just grins.]

Yeah... we're a bunch of idiots... but everyone here is ready to fight to the death for their guild mates. Hell, the guild went to war for Lucy once, even.

Mmm...

[he looks over at gildarts, nodding and smiling.]

I understand now. And it's too bad I lost my powers... you guys seem like people I'd want to join up with as well-!

Even though the powers I had were simply borrowed.

[He just grins up at the ceiling, shaking his head a bit.]

Power kinda takes a back seat here. We don't care so much about combat ability. Hell, Cana was already a member before she could do any magic.

[He pounds his metal hand to his chest.]

To be a Fairy, the most important thing to have is heart. From what I can see, you've already got that.

Ehehe.... that's what I'm known for, I have way too much heart!

[he's just too good, he's been manipulated because of it before.]
