Smell the blood of a petty little liar [Audio -> Video + Action? late night post]

[Anyone in the city of Genessia is well aware of when the monsters come out, and hopefully a good amount of said people were also following the curfew the Guardian of the city had set up.

Chara was not one of those people. As their device's audio clicks on right in the middle of, well it certainly sounds like a fight. And an angry sounding kid talking during it.]

Stupid adults, stupid humans. [A grunt and a wet sound, which those who know that sound is the sound of a knife in flesh. Zombie flesh. Which is followed by a growling that is getting closer to Chara.]

And you things! Hah, just like home you die and turn to dust. [Oh now things sound like they're going poorly, as the phone ends up falling out of their pocket which ends up switching it to video.]

[The scene the the device shows for all to see is Chara, pinned by one of the werewolves that have also been lurking about, but they're not shouting for help. In fact they laughing, each laugh punctuated by them having gotten a hand free. The hand in which they're holding a dagger that looks like it really shouldn't be used for fighting, that they're now promptly stabbing at the beast that's on top of them.

A bit excessively. Even when it looks like maybe the monster has some realization that this is a target that is going to kill it, Chara just keeps going. They stab and stab and stab until the werewolf is nothing but dust. Anyone who hasn't been completely disgusted by the scene may notice that Chara is... crying?

Of course that's easier to see once they notice their device fell on the ground, which they go over to pick up and end up giving the network a lovely view of their "tears". Which look more like a viscous black liquid that makes it look like their face is melting away, and then they notice the device is on. They blink and while the "tears" are still there, their face looks a bit more normal.]

Oh dear.

[And of course if anyone else is out monster hunting they can always come across Chara at any point during the night.]

[Metal chose a fine time to check what was going on in the wider world. By the time the video is over the video is over the robot is just left staring.]

[Their reply comes much much later. Once they are a bit more composed and a lot less face melty.]

[ Shinjiro is frowning, but that's kind of his default expression already. ]

[Reply come later! After they are more composed, covered in monster dust and up a tree for the moment.

Well, if you wanna join me in killing these things I'm not gonna say no.

[ Frowns more. Takes in the dust. Remembered the earlier ... frenzy.

He wants to ask about the black substance, but Shinjiro isn't the type to pry.

... They're just a kid. What the hell happened, for them to get so ... excited ... about stabbing something? ]

[Oh Shinjiro, if he doesn't pry then he'll never know.]

I'll have to wait a bit, I may have cheesed some of these idiots off staying up in a tree is probably better than getting down.

[ That's why Shinjiro tended to use his fist, his boots, his own head - anything he could use as a weapon, if the chips were really down. He frowned. ]

Yeah, if you're cornered and y'need to get out fast. If you're lookin for a fight, you might as well get somethin which will leave y'less vulnerable.

Resists the urge to ask if they need help. He'd seen what they can do. ]

And don't mind the slightly surprised look they have at the mention of it going to be dawn soon-ish.]

[ "Only as vulnerable as you want your -" Shrugs. But, really. Was this kid - did they also spend a lot of time homeless? A really violent household? Child trafficking? Some combination of all of that? Shinjiro had seen a lot of shit, so he could only imagine.

He sighed. ]

Maybe you'll want a sandwich before a bath, then.

[His imagination is a bit off, but only a bit.]

What, are you offering to get me a sandwich?

[Their tone of voice is joking, they don't expect a positive answer to that. And they won't take it either.

Thus the joking.]

[ He hadn't been.

But Shinjiro would be lying to himself if he didn't want to help in some way ever since he saw the little tyke facing down all of those wolves. Never mind that they flipped out and stabbed the hell out of them, and started leaking black shit -

- it's not like a manifestation of their soul got out and started to eat the wolves and then rampage around the town, just saying -

- the point was, his stupid brain still was telling him he should be helping. And Shinjiro was kind of shit at helping.

He wasn't bad at sandwiches, though. ]

[Stares.

Just silent staring before...]

I wasn't being serious, you know.

[ Shrugs. That's what he gets for trying to be nice. ]

Try a spear next time. I've seen 'em work well for twerps your size.

[There is being nice and then there is not getting a joke, Shinjiro.

Chara shifts a bit, since a tree isn't the most comfortable, and the view from their phone becomes a bit skewed.]

Well next time I find a big stick I'll make sure to tape my knife to one end of it.

The word's gotta lot of mileage in it.

[ He also shrugs a lot, have they noticed? And for someone who didn't get the earlier joke, he sure dishes out the sarcasm: ]

Sure, kid. That'll work.

Being stoic doesn't really net you friends, kiddo.

[One can dish out sarcasm and yet still be blind to it!]

Mm.

[ ... He's at least how many years older than you? Kiddo, really? Shinjiro just sighs. ]

I'll keep that in mind, for when I need t'make some.

[Not many, if they count the years they were dead they are much much older than Shinjiro.

Also they were doing it because of him calling them kid. Alls fair in nicknames and war.]
