002 | but I can say that in my dreams
[ VIDEO ]
[ Usagi appears to be sitting in a cafe, drinking a large hot chocolate with a lot of whipped cream. She gets a little on her lip, licks it off, and then smiles at the camera. ]
Hey, everyone!
So, I've figured -
[ Just the brief shadow of sadness passes over her face, but she pushes it away, and replaces it with that same, familiar, worn-throughout-the-last-few-months smile of Everything Being Fine - ]
- I'm going to be here for a while, so -
I've checked out all of the arcades, and I've been to the really neat cafes in this city, and the cool little restaurants and bakeries, and I've been to the movies but I probably haven't seen them all yet, but -
- what do people do around here anyway?
Back at home I at least had highschool to worry about all the time, ahaha.

They'll find me and drag me back and say I've got to go after all.
[ Usagi looks comically horrified by this idea. ]
I'll live in your closet and eat your snacks and help out with the laundry in return. Promise.
Up until the whole eating my snacks part. That's kind of a deal breaker right there.
[ Usagi grabs her heart and swoons. Proper dramatics and everything! ]
[ It doesn't seem like she's annoyed at being compared to a cat or dog. ]
Though "mature and responsible" owner would feed me.
I guess you have a point there. It definitely wouldn't be my snacks though. Those are off limits.
vegetables??!
[ She puts on a horrified face, like she was threatened with poison. ]

Aheh, well some of us like to ah, take on a degree of excruciating exertion.
[Why did he ever think signing up for boot camp with Winter was a good idea?]
Those activities sound a great deal more pleasant. All the more if they're done with someone else, eh? Have your friends been adding to those pleasure?
Unless you like working out and stuff.
[ That's the best Usagi could make of the first part of what Ted said.
She nods! ]
Yup, sometimes! Though I don't know too many people here, yet.
So, do you want to come join me?
Re: [Video]
Hahehuh, even if you did...well, I've heard of runner's high, or a vaguely euphoric feeling from jogging a lot. Would that there were something akin to that for pushups or burpees. Alas.
Certainly, if you'd like! I find relief on Fridays. Goodness knows I can't refuse pretty women anything. Ah, but only if I'm the kind of man you think your father would approve of, of course.
[What's her dad's policy on clowns?]
[ But Usagi quickly switches gears. She looks excited to hang out with Ted ... until his last sentence sunk in, and she blushed.
Why did this happen to her? Really? ]
Ummmmm - I'm really sorry, but - I just thought we could hang out!
I'm already engaged! I have an awesome fiance!
So, I don't mean to disappoint you, but. Can we still be friends?
Re: [Video]
[That gets a laugh. Wow, the Japanese sure do marry young!]
snort Goodness, I meant nothing so forward as that! It's just, ah, engaged or no, most fathers where I'm from look askance on their daughters spending time with older men. Particularly at your age. But if all's well, friendship would be very fine.
Well, maybe, but my dad knows I can take care of myself!
[ Which was a lie, he still hasn't recovered from her dating Mamoru. Still. Ted doesn't seem that old. ]
Besides, I'm kind of on my own now, aren't I?
[ Which was only going to be depressing if she ever let herself think about it for more than five seconds. ]
Re: [Video]
Aheh, sounds like an affirmative to me!
[Ted wonders how much of the world's problems can be chalked up to absent fathers. The least he can do is evoke their phantoms. But yes, Ted in the ripe old age of his early twenties, has a youthful enough face. Said face turns a tint sympathetic.]
Oh, I wouldn't say that. If you go and, say, turn over a nearby rock, I'm sure a noble gentleman will jump out and do all kinds of chivalrous things for you. Probably without asking, too. And Minako's here, isn't she?
But you're right - everyone has been super nice here, and Minako's here - so. I'm not complaining! I'm really fortunate to find so many friends here after all.
[ But they weren't the same as her family. And they didn't replace the friends she'd left behind at home. And they didn't replace Mamoru. She didn't want Minako to leave - and she didn't even know that the other friends she made could also disappear at any time - but. Her heart just grew in its capacity to love others, rather than having her forget all the people she left behind. ]
And now you're one of them!
[ ... good luck, Ted? ]
Re: [Video]
Pffhaha! Should I be wounded that you think me so easily found under rocks, or flattered you think me so chivalrous? Well, thank you all the same.
[It's all flattering; his home is way worse. Ted is, sadly, well acquainted with the sporadic and frequent loss Genessia inflicts. His cheery mood hides it well most of the time.]
Goodness, I see how you got so engaged to fast when you move so swiftly. Well, I've no objections. Friday, then?
[ She almost, almost mentions it wasn't a swift engagement at all - her mouth opens to protest -
- but then realizes she can't possibly explain the bit with multiple lifetimes.
She hides her flub with a giggle, scratching the back of her head. ]
That sounds great!
Where would you like to meet?
Re: [Video]
Why not the theater? I could do with something passive for a change.
[Cause while laser tag at the arcade sounded fun, he's not sure he'll be good for much sport with all the soreness. The scathing soreness.]
She's still wayyy too young.]A movie sounds great!
What would you like to see? A comedy? A romantic comedy? An action-adventure? Oooh, maybe they've got some sad drama playing ... or a cartoon!
