[when bernkastel first woke up, she felt nothing. when she scanned the area and determined that she was not where she was meant to be... she still felt nothing. even when listening to the hologram, and knowing that she was suddenly in another realm...

still, she felt nothing. perhaps there was a bit of slight irritation, but that was only because her plans had been messed around with. she had been in the middle of a game, one where she was fighting against the boredom that would eventually kill her. they had taken over beato's game, her and lambda, and they were going to rip it apart and have such fun with it.

now, she was elsewhere. now, she was in a different fragment. from what she could gather... there was an unknown entity that was bringing them here. another world, another kakera, another place that could possibly defeat her boredom.

it was irritating to be here, but she knew that lambda couldn't continue the game without her.]

[now having situated herself in a random cafe she found, she was currently sipping some tea. no, she hadn't paid for it, she had simply been able to conjure it up. the ingredients were here after all, she just had to transfer them to her own table. she sipped it quietly, putting her cup down on its saucer as she spoke at the device. she was a small looking girl, but there was certainly something about her that was extremely intimidating.]

........From what I've been able to gather, no one has ever seen the one that brings them here, correct?

[bern tapped the top of the table with a finger.] Even the game master wishes to hide and refuses to show themselves. Fine, fine fine... I'll play this little game, only for a while... or only until I grow bored of this place.

[because hey, she truly believes that she can leave at any time. she's the witch of miracles after all, and she can leave to different fragments all she wants.]

Though I must say, bringing others here from all other fragments is something I haven't seen. Even I hadn't thought of that. There has been the occasional piece I've let wander in from another time- but that was another matter entirely. [poor, poor ange. but not really.]

Still.... this place may very well be eternal torture. Housing, employment? That may very well kill me before anything else does. [because ugh, boring human shit.]

Bored or not...no one's ever been able to leave this place of their own will...

But how would housing and employment kill you? At least the humans have something to do with themselves...

Mundane tasks and happenings are complete boredom for someone like me. Ultimately, what is the goal, what is being accomplished? Nothing. And in the end, that boredom is a poison for me.

Well...from what I understand, humans require money to pay for food and housing and many other things. They do these jobs to earn that. I'm a dragon, so I don't need housing, and I find all my food in the wild.

But what do you do that is so...worthwhile? What do you accomplish?

[humans are such foolish creatures, only needing to sustain themselves... she had no such need for housing or employment either. she doesn't need to even eat, she simply does it for fun.

Travel to different fragments, stay for a while and observe if it truly can satisfy me. This place..... there is a certain interest to it, I'll give it that much. Seeing others from all other worlds coming together...... I'd like to watch for the time being.

Just watching? That sounds...boring.

[She's sort of curious what kinds of things would satisfy this person, but part of her doesn't really want to know.]

This place...can get interesting sometimes...though I'm not sure that's always a good thing...

And just what sort of things happen when they become "interesting"?

Well...it seems to be a different thing every time. But the most recent thing happened around a human holiday called "Halloween," just a few weeks ago. Monsters appeared at night in Genessia City. In Attleton, everyone's greatest fears were becoming a reality. In Fayren, people were put in costumes that they couldn't remove. In Nova City, people were becoming monsters. And in Everglade, all of the buildings became something edible.

[......well. that does seem interesting. it sounded wonderful to her, truly, and she could almost smile at the thought.

she didn't, however, she simply closed her eyes and mused to herself.]

Becoming monsters.... [she would have liked to have seen that.] And I take it that no one is immune to these sorts of occurrences?

[if this is a game board and she's been brought here, then of course she would be susceptible to to whatever whims the game master would have.]

...Not that I'm aware of. If we're spared from a certain effect, it means we just got lucky...

[She's been pretty lucky, except for becoming human. But that was only a dream, and only because of a certain mage rather than this "game master," and because Liora had made the choice to go after that bounty.]

It's not that bad. There are plenty of interesting jobs that keeps the adrenaline flowing.

...You...don't really seem all that into action stuff, though, so bounty hunting is probably out.

Now I'm not one for human jobs, but even I can tell that testing mattresses would be the most boring task ever. I'm definitely going to have to pass on that one.

........Right, and we're expected to pay bills here now too? You would think that a place like this that was made for everyone would try and be a bit different than the everyday life of regular humans.

Yeah, well...honestly I'm still not clear on why we're here in the first place. Might be a zoo for people around the universe for all I know, but it's tough to get bored if you're busy.

You get free housing for about a month, though, to get you started. Nice to meet you, Bernkastel! And hey, if you're the classic kind of witch that can cast spells and all that, you're probably going to have an easier time of it than most people. I think they hire magic instructors in Fayren, or potion brewers, researchers...

I wouldn't say no one's seen them. There was a breach a while ago and people said they saw these glowy ball things that were claiming to be the spirits of the place. I didn't meet one personally, but a few people did.

[glowy. ball. things. bern narrows her eyes slightly at that. so, is she to believe that the game master here... are a bunch of spirit-like balls? perhaps the leader didn't want to be shown.]

Do you know if they were servants of a game master, or simply were they the leaders?

As far as I can tell they're the spirits of the cities themselves. I never met them to confirm. I think Vladdy might've seen one though? There was some huge drama about that a while ago, you might ask him.

It's pretty boring observing, I'll warn you. People make the same mistakes and complaints over and over, then want to tell you their life story on the first meeting if they're not too busy trying to scream at the top of their lungs how much more powerful than everyone else they are.
