[The feed kicks on to the face of a young girl. She was outdoors in a open space that was "OK" in size for Nova City. It was probably a park. In her hand was something not typically seen everyday - a large broom with a bicycle seat attached to it.]
I apologize if I'm interrupting anything with this, but does anyone have any phobias? If so, how do you go about working through it?
(Action)
[Anastasia can be found in the park. A good enough out-of-the-way place that was thankfully empty at this time. If any accidents happen, she'll be okay knowing she won't be taking anyone down with her.
Holding the broom vertically, it was just a little taller than she was. She positioned it horizontally, with the bike seat facing up. There was a unique pin attached to the broom and is important to what the girl is about to do. She lets go of the broom, and it is floating just high enough off the ground that it's at knee level. She breaths in deep and sighs heavily, turns her back to it and sits down onto the bike seat, being the princess that she is and riding side-saddle.
Manipulating the magic of the pin, she makes the broom carry her just high enough that her feet left the ground, but she didn't go any higher. In fact, in a fit of panic, she hopped off and the broom collapses onto the ground. She turns and just stares at the broom with a lightly closed hand over her heart.
How can something so easy be so hard to do now? How can one accident several months ago effect her like this?]

It helps if you've got a good reason to try and deal with your phobia. If it's something small, like an irrational fear of...I don't know...bunnies, I guess? Probably not something you have to force yourself through. But if your phobia's going to keep you from protecting the people you care about, keeping those people in mind can give you a boost of extra courage to stand your ground and fight through it.
Re: [Video]
I see... I somewhat figured as much. Mine is...probably somewhere in between? I suppose? Umm... You see... [She focuses the camera on the floating broom for a moment before turning it back to herself.] ...I can fly with help, but I'm afraid to do so now. I'm afraid of crashing and getting hurt again.
I want to overcome this fear. What are your thoughts?
[Yang glances on the broom.]
...I'm...guessing that's your ride?
Re: [Video]
[She nods at the question and pans the camera once more to the flying broom, trying to get the light on the bicycle seat.]
Yes it is. I had a seat attached to it. More comfortable that way.

Re: [Video]
Oh, I've ridden a motorcycle before. The speed is something I'll need to get used to again. Then I need to work on heights...
Re: [Video]
That...sounds way too scary... I think speed should be handled first...
[Yang grins.]
We won't accelerate until you tell me to. Sound good?
Re: [Video]
[She won't mention motorcycles to her though.]

[A big, strong guy like him being afraid of something so small... it's like the lion with the thorn stuck in its paw.]
The fear might never completely go away, just become easier to manage.
To actually do that, expose yourself to the phobia in a safe, controlled environment. Having someone you trust with you can help.
[It's not exactly how he did it, but it's the standard way to go about it to his understanding. And just out of curiosity....]
What is it you're afraid of?
Re: [Video]
I suppose I'm afraid of heights. I want to fly again, but I'm scared of crashing...again.
Re: [Video]
...I suppose it's a little of both? But mostly while flying.

[He needs a little more context to give good advice.]
Re: [Video]
The medal is magic...
[Princess of bad explanations.]
It, umm... I think it works with my Wind magic, which then helps me fly.

Re: [Video]
However...
[She panned the camera over to a large broom with a bicycle seat attached to it.]
I found a broom to be easier to control while flying. Even while side-saddle... At least until I crashed, though...
A helmet could help you feel safer.
[...Assuming she doesn't use one already.]
Re: [Video]
[No one told her to wear one. Oops.]
I don't know how it will help with heights and speed, but I suppose I could try it.

Re: [Video]
Or, who knows? She might have a better idea.

Re: [Video]
A technique for... falling?

Hmm, well the thing to do is to dare the universe to do its worst! It's like, say, getting used to cold water. Going by small degrees only lengthens the suffering. Going all in is the thing.
Repeat exposure is another good way. If you immerse yourself in the fear and breathe it in, why, it's not likely to continue in its same intensity forever.
[All complete theory. Ted's too dumb to be afraid of much.]
Re: [Video]
I'm thinking repeat exposure might be the solution also. ...But what if I fall when I get too high in the air?
Re: [Video]
[Who knew flying witches were their own solution?]
