You are twisting the perspective on fact.

Who a person is, is meaningless, without choice.

With choice, we have meaning, we are the people who we intend to be.

And, if the culprit is someone who would make the choice to murder my friend, then I would wish him brought to justice immediately.

If he is not - he can not be held responsible for choices they wouldn't even make.
