She stares at the camera, and then says - utterly serious, completely deadpan: ]

Maybe you should consider it. That passion is very convincing.

[ Passion? That's not a word people usually use when talking about anything she does. For a moment, she wonders if he's teasing him.

But, then she remembers. Scott knows someone who's like her. In his own world. She reconsiders. He might be sincere? ]

You're very level headed, you could run for guardian yourself one day if you wanted i'm sure.

I don't believe I'd make a good Guardian.

I also don't want the position.

[ Deputy Guardian was another matter. ]

I think you could be a great one but if you really aren't interested, I can't blame you. [And he won't press the issue.]

This next election is going to be interesting, specially for Attleton.

"Interesting" is one word to use.

Yes. Some of the candidates are...well, unusual.

I suppose there's no age requirement.

[ Or the child wouldn't be running, for example. ]

There doesn't seem to be which is really weird. But maybe it's because a lot of the adults here are non humans and, technically speaking, underage.

I would think the standard would be measured, based not on an arbitrary number, but when that species or type of sentient person matured.

[ A pause ]

And, if it was based on maturity, it would disqualify many adults as well.

Do we know who organized the elections in the first place? Who set the rules?

[He almost snorts at that.]

Isn't that the truth...

... No, I don't.

Do you think they'd allow suggested changes to their rules?

Perhaps. But the problem is that we don't know who send those suggestions.

If the mayors don't determine the rules ...

Maybe it's an issue that we can brought up during the Guardians' debates.
