01 (Take Two) - Arrival Log
Who: Adela (
enchantressofore) & OPEN
What: A new awakening in a city she had left before, at least before she had the chance to get acquainted with it. Hopefully, things will be different this time.
Where: The Bay (Genessia City), leading to elsewhere in Genessia City.
When: December 23rd, Early Afternoon
It felt like she was waking from a dream. The first thing that went through her mind was the feeling that she was cold.
She was groggy when she tried to wake up, taking a moment to notice the bundle on her chest, along with the necklace with that large green gem. This felt familiar in a way, like she had done it before. But it was such a far off feeling, was it déjà vu? She didn't know for sure.
She used her cloak to wrap around her body tightly, keeping everything close before she went through everything – the pamphlet, her device, and the hologram on some of the dry land in the cave. Apparently, the first thing she needed to do was to go to a starter apartment. But why was she there? What was Genessia, and why was she no longer in Nautilus? Nehra, it felt like things were finally quieting down when this happened.
But, there was no point on dwelling on it -- at least, not then and there. That would only serve to make her sick from the cold.
It was with some discomfort that she trekked through the shallow water, looking around in silence. It was disconcerting, knowing she couldn't bend there. She felt her magic, but she knew she wasn't nearly as powerful as she had been. Worse still, she was alone there. Nothing at all was familiar anymore. Every so often she would stop, looking over her device and her map. She didn't want to approach anyone, which meant she was made to wander around the city in silence. At least, unless someone else approached her first.
It was also possible that, while looking over everything, she would walk right into someone else out of not paying attention. She grunted with the impact, flushed from the cold and looking to the person she'd bumped into with a tired glance.
"My apologies. Are you all right?" She offered the apology, figuring that courtesy was the least she could offer the other person.

Peter shook his head, offering a cheerful chuckle. "Nope! Nothing at all! All the time in the world!" He moved into step with her.
"I don't have to go to school here, so it's great!"
no subject
"... I fear I may come to miss it. I know I already miss those I have met there."
no subject
"Changing reality? It sounds cool, do you know how it does that?"
Peter walks along with a little bounce in his step. "You might. If it makes you feel better, I'm kinda homesick right now."
It was kind of a confession but he was still grinning and bearing it.

She paused, frowning at the road ahead, "It is like... Let us say someone had the power to use fire. That power would be lost to them upon waking in Nautilus, until they could learn how to bend it back into existence using their will. It took practice, and it came more easily to those who could envision such things more easily. But anyone could do it."
no subject
"Do you know why the world was like that? I wonder, how cool would it be to wake up being able to use fire like that?" He grinned wickedly, he had an idea, but also not really, because that kind of skill wouldn't change his physiology.
"Sorry, I just get kind of excited."
no subject
She took a moment to pause, frowning a little, "It seems strange that I would wake so suddenly somewhere else, where that ability was no longer there."
no subject
"I bet everyone would think it was really cool if they could do that kind of magic, but I mean, usually people just have what they come with. I wonder why your skills didn't come with you!"
no subject
She sighed, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked forward, "It... Is a little jarring, admittedly. I know I will adjust, I have lived like that before, it just seems strange after a year of not having to."
no subject
"Sorry, yeah, it's kinda different to just be here away from everyone all of a sudden. I'm still getting used to it. I haven't left home much at all before this place."
no subject
She took a moment, sighing before shaking her head, "Again, it is different here, else we would not have received money in the first place, right?"
At his statement she paused, taking a moment before smiling softly, almost wistfully, "I can understand that. Before Nautilus, I barely knew anything of the world beyond my home."
no subject
"I suppose it is, but fortunately it's enough money to get you a few things you need, clothes or tools...whatever you like."
Peter nodded. "I went to Germany once, for this work thing, but...apart from that I've mostly stayed at home in Queens."

"Yeah, that's true! I got a job at a theatre selling popcorn and stuff." He grinned and shrugged helplessly. "It's okay, I don't mind it!" It was kind of boring, but sometimes he could sneak playing with his phone.
"And because of that I got my own place, so it's like wow, amazing you know!"
no subject
"Is it so unusual to be able to afford your own home where you are from, though? You make it sound as if it is something that does not commonly happen."
no subject
Peter hummed slightly. "Well, I was living with my aunt because she's my guardian! And I think she finds it expensive for our apartment, so maybe? We don't have a lot of money anyway."
no subject
At the mention of Peter's aunt Adela smiled again, relaxing a little as she met his eye, "It sounds a little similar to my situation before -- I had lived with my uncle since I was very young. He was not always the best with children, but... I like to think he tried, at least."
no subject
He nodded. "My aunt and uncle were great! I really love them as good as if they were my parents, but it's just me and my aunt now." And, in Genessia, it was just him. It was kind of lonely.
no subject
She paused, thinking over how she wanted to ask before she decided to just go for it, "Is she here with you now? Your aunt, that is."
no subject
"Ah, no, Aunt May is just at home I guess."
no subject
The other words brought a more soft and sad expression then, and she sighed before looking ahead once more, "It... It has been a long time since I have seen my uncle, as well. So at least that far, I can say I have some idea of how that may feel."

Adela raised a brow at Peter, unsure of him, but a moment late realizing what he was trying to do. She smiled as well, trying to deflect from what she had just said.
"Nevermind, I... I meant that I understand what it is like, nothing more. It is as you said, it will be fine until you can return home to see her again."
no subject
"I guess not." He offered, still trying to spin it as a cheerful thing with a half shrug.
"Yeah, well it's different, being away from home, you know? For a long period of time anyway."
no subject
Adela sighed, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked ahead, "I apologize... It seems even with some experience, I am not very good at conversing like this."
