The usual police procedural log

Who: Guardian's office and visitors
What: Catch-all, with Winter being their Christmas present and everything, everyone feel free to thread their own stuff!
When: Second half of December (post-event)
Where: Attleton
Warnings: does passive-aggressive friendliness require a warning?

A
There's someone new hanging out in the Attleton office... Winter Schnee, Captain of Fayren's Royal Guard, can be found spending a lot of time in Attleton adding additional womanpower to their presence in the streets to reassure the Attletonies after that very public murder. Yay?

B
Once he is finally back on duty, the Guardian has gone back into his usual burying himself with work frenzy which is Cassian's normal way of dealing with problems. It has the potential to make work rather miserable for everyone, with him running on hyperspeed and expecting everyone else to keep up.

There's also proverbial housekeeping going on, inventory being done, bookkeeping checked and double-checked, the stacks of paperwork to be caught up on - all in preparation of the end of his term, and possibly handing over the Guardian's position. Everything will be neat and tidy when he leaves, he's decided. Totally not keeping himself busy to keep from breaking down.

C
The gear room holds a new addition after Ayame's delivery - brand-new Thermaltech jackets, ordered all the way back during Black Friday sale, and now reinforced with Ayame's very own magic against conventional and unconventional weaponry. They are just there one day, neatly stacked on a bench in the store room though it had been locked. The magic of her portals!

D
Choose your own adventure! (and more to be added)

Most of Winter's patrols were in the late afternoon, stretching into the evening hours. Her first responsibility remained fixed as the captain of the guard, which meant taking care of her assignments passed down to her personal care. However, with week seven of her training camp dealing primarily with sending her students into the field with a challenging task, her presence wasn't strictly necessary. Her communicator was always close at hand in case there was an emergency -- the assignments seemed simple enough but complications could always arise.

As such, her time was better spent assisting where it seemed most needed. Winter had never met the droid who had been killed, so it would be a falsehood to claim that she was emotionally impacted in any fashion. But the others were, that much was clear. Until he returned, she meant to ensure that no wretch attempted to take advantage of the temporary instability that had shaken Cassian and his crew, and given Winter's exceptionally serious reputation, her presence alone would probably suffice in conveying the message that criminals would receive no opportunities for mercy.

So although her patrols were relatively uneventful, the decision to have her available on the streets was likely a contributing factor to that peace.

And even though she'd assured Cassian that it was unlikely she would have to rely on her summoning in handling the everyday riff-raff, she allowed some of the children she encountered to play with very small versions of her beowulves and nevermores. Miniaturized, they were little more than friendly birds and puppies. A more unconventional method of restoring a little calm and peace to a rattled population, but Winter had always been a strategist at heart. If the kids were happy, it would pass on to the parents, and the others who saw them at play.

At least one individual is capable of keeping up with Cassian - and she doesn't even technically work for the Guardian office.

Dorothy is helping with inventory, checking over that book-keeping, and has a better eye for paperwork than certain others in the office.

She is, however, at the moment, trying to find Cassian Andor himself.

Someone (Kay) would probably appreciate her making certain that he didn't work himself into an early grave.

She looks him over, taking in his posture and his expression and his tone. Then, she looks around the room of brand-new thermal jackets. Pristine. In no need of repair. And already inventoried. (She'd remember.)

Dorothy turns back to him.

"Do you have a place here to sleep?"

"I have experience." She held her hands behind her back, turning her head in the sound of Cassian's voice. She was honestly surprised to see that he was voluntarily moving to speak with her, and there was a silent inquisition in the arch of her brows.

With the two of them in full public view, she had strong doubts that any ill-minded individual would attempt any sort of criminal activity, but she coolly surveyed their surroundings in any case as parks were popular spots for muggings.

"I have two younger siblings. One of the guards I'm currently training is also of a very young age." That should be explanation enough, as she doubted he wanted much in the way of details to begin with. No, there was clearly something else he wanted to discuss, and this was his way of...'breaking the ice'...so to speak.

"Is there something you wished to speak to me about?"

Not misbehavior. But he was only human, and he needed to take care of himself.

"I can clear out the rec room in five minutes."

Her gaze is firm, she's of course entirely serious.

"And then keep people out for at least forty minutes."

She didn't bother to answer the rhetorical question, but did wait to make certain Cassian actually followed her out of the room.

"What is it with humans," Dorothy replied, her voice definitely drier than usual, "who don't know to take care of themselves?"

Of course, this, for her, was also affectionate.

"I add extra sugar to your coffee," Dorothy admits, not feeling remorse for it at all, "so you'll have extra energy when you forget to eat."

It's a trick she'd used with Roger, after all. Cassian didn't think he was the first stubborn human she'd helped out, did he? But she did like him, if not in the same way even if they were very different people. The Guardian was rough around the edges, but he still was earnest and sincere in everything he tried to do.

Dorothy then said, peering out of the corner of her eyes at the bag, "Did you eat a real meal today?"
