[Video - to the citizens of Nova City and beyond]

While it appears that over half of you are discontent with the current arrangement, the votes have been cast and the people have chosen their Guardians.

I thank those who have supported me in my platform to best protect Nova City and its neighbours. Regretfully I cannot fulfill these plans to their fullest due to the interference of the Jedi, who in their arrogance always promote their own notions of peace-keeping and cause dissent among the populace.

I hope to remain on as one of your deputies, however there will be changes and these will be discussed with the proper authorities.

[Private text to Garrus and Mercury]

It seems that you have won this time. I request a meeting with you both in regards to the future.

[Private text to Anakin Skywalker]

This is your doing. Nova City will never be safe while you are around. If you are no coward, meet me at the Nova City Beach. If you do not appear, I will find you.

[ Grievous, remember when she hired you on that condition that you not discriminate against groups of people? Yeah, Weiss is disappointed. And she doesn't have to hide, tbh. ]

If you're going to blame your loss on interference from a particular group of people instead of graciously accepting defeat and working to improve and try again, you have a long way to go before you're worthy of the title of Guardian.

You don't really think that Mercury and Garrus won just because one guy who doesn't like you decided to be petty, do you?

Admittedly, I didn't read a lot of the comments...but what's-his-face was being a jerk to you. And Mercury and Garrus did a better job than I thought they would, so it might make you look better if you just ignore him and let him keep hating you? Most people don't care about the past here. Just work on proving yourself for the future.

Some just can't help but interfere... My own bid for Guardian in the election before this one was... was derailed. Thankfully no Jedi were involved.
whiteas: (Here's a suggestion.)

So what? People have constantly been discrediting others throughout this race. Emerald outright accused Grell of having the mayor's office in her pocket and being involved in illegal dealings to get him there. X-Ray punched Nova City's mayor. I've had my name dragged through the mud my entire life, back home and here as Guardian.

The public needs to feel safe in the hands of their Guardian. You've shown them that you refuse to take responsibility for failing to convince them they should because of the words of one person and that you're willing to place blame on an entire group of people for the action of one.

So what. You think that's the only reason you lost? That's not saying that you think that much about your opponents you lost to.
whiteas: (Good listener. Sometimes.)

If that were the case, then you're admitting you were unable to protect the city from what you claim to be a threat to the population's freedom. You're not giving reasons you should've won in their stead, but proving you were incapable of the job to begin with.

Yeah? The same could be said about you. That's just persuasion and proving a point, and it's a part of politics. And part of why I stay out of it.
whiteas: (But not as fabulous as me.)

When you do, make sure you have proof of what he's done, and learn to respect your opponents next time, Grievous. Garrus and Mercury worked just as hard as you did and are technically still your superiors if you plan on keeping your job. Don't insult them because you lost, it only makes you look bad.

[ Place of love, Grievous. You gotta learn to be gracious. ]
aurabble: (do you ever feel like a salt pile)

[personal profile] aurabble 2017-12-31 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
No. But there's a way to handle it and a way to not handle it. People still look up to you and want to trust you. Getting salty about it's not going to fix anything.
whiteas: (Here's a suggestion.)

You weren't ready to do it on your own. No one on the current team was, that's why I selected both of them. They balance each others' characteristics enough out that if one of them is out of line in either direction, the other will call him on it. I didn't select you because you lack an understanding of people and respect for others' actions. Despite your leadership experience, I get the feeling it wasn't in a close-knit environment and not suited for a small team so much as an army of faceless individuals who follow orders without question. I had hoped you would improve on those qualities before you tried to run for Guardian. Do you believe my assessment to be incorrect?

Nah. I'm pretty sure fights have decreased by 90% or something since I left.

[He doesn't believe Grievous. But it's nice to hear.]

Sorry 'bout your loss, general.
