[action; bay, then genessia city]
[Waking up in a small cocoon device? A little alarming.
Waking up in what appears to be the surface world? Even more so.
Was she kidnapped or something? That'd have been her first thought, anyway, until she notices the materials she'd been left with. The necklace was certainly pretty. But the pamphlet... Needless to say, Avril's going through that one.
Eventually, she's on her feet, soon finding her way into the city as she gathers her bearings. Hello, Genessia! Have a cute, and slightly confused girl wandering around the city. She may be shooting wary glances at other people, particularly those she might view as "strange" or, worse, "sick." Since she's (admittedly) normal as normal can get a person, that might be just about anyone and everyone. Have fun!]
[There's a shaky sigh, as she crosses her arms.] Okay, okay... calm down. Just try to get a hold of yourself. It can't be that bad, right?

fellow newcomer in the bay work?
You just woke up too?
[That's a question. Barely.]
works fine for me!
"Too"? [Her voice is uncertain, confused.] I- Well, I suppose you could say that. I didn't quite expect to wake up on the surface like this...

[There's an aside glance as she bites her lip. Then again, it doesn't seem like this person would know of Eden...]
In any case, it seems like we're both in the same boat here. I take it you just arrived too?
Action
I woke up a few minutes ago. I'd think someone would have come to get us by now...
no subject
"Sure, babes. Genessia ain't so bad. If you can't get hold of yourself, though, I'll be glad to do it for ya!"
no subject
And that? That alone is enough to make the poor girl jump, her first response to instinctively dash forwards. Of course, that ends up with her stumbling to the ground.
She'll look up at the man, shooting him a rather incensed look. Was this some kind of joke?! And-- not only that, but why does he look so strange?
"Don't scare me like that!"
no subject
"Sure, babes, whatever you say. How would you like me to scare you?"
no subject
There's a shaky, frustrated sigh as she picks herself off from the ground, dusting herself off. She faces the man, still indigant as she crosses her arms. What is up with this guy?
"And just who are you to go about startling people like that?"
no subject
[ Action ]
Are you all right?
[ Action ]
That, well, that'd depend on your definition of "all right", in all honesty. [There's a sigh.] Considering this is apparently some sort of new world - and one on the surface at that.
[Yes, she's already read the pamphlet. It doesn't mean she's lost her wariness of the other residents she's come across so far. Who knows for sure if spectres or the ailments that result from contact with them don't exist in this world?]
[ Action ]
Just got here, huh? It's not so bad, really. It's better than being forced into a war or something-- [ Pause. ] You sound surprised that it this world is on the surface? Is it different where you're from?
[ Action ]
I'm... well, I'm from Eden. [She stares at the woman, trying to evaluate her response. If this was truly the surface of her world, then she'd know very well what Eden was. And Avril imagines her reaction wouldn't be nearly as warm or welcoming.] ... Can I-- Is it all right if I ask you something, miss...?
[ Action ]
Lucy. [ She smiles by way of introducing herself. ] And sure you can; ask away, Miss...?

Carrying his own share of strange things that he'd been left with, he'll eventually start moving, trying to find out exactly what was going on here and what was expected of him next. He's rather transfixed by this colourful necklace, to the point where he's not really looking where he's going...
...and then he bumps into her. A human. His body turning cold, he bows apologetically.]
A-ah, I'm sorry! I didn't see you there. I'll be more careful in future. [Don't hurt me.]
no subject
It--It's all right. I'm fine. [She picks herself up, dusting herself off.] More importantly, are you all right?
[Though, looking at him closer, the horns do raise a bit of question. Therefore prompting her head to tilt slightly at the boy. She'd ask, but she'll wait first. It likely wouldn't be polite to ask right off the bat.]

[She seems to be staring at him. Hadn't she ever seen dragonkin before? But they were all over the island and nobody had come from the outside for centuries... right?
Still, he doesn't feel confident enough to just outright question it, so he decides to change the subject, holding up the necklace.]
Do you want this necklace? I'm not sure if I really feel comfortable holding onto something that looks so valuable. People will get suspicious.
no subject
Hmm... so you received one too. [She holds out the same - or at least a similar necklace out to the boy. There's a small pondering noise from the girl as she thinks.] How strange. I received something similar when I woke up here. I wonder why?
no subject
The boy shakes his head.]
I don't know... I don't even know where I am. I woke up in some kind of metal shell and I don't recognise this place at all.
I thought 'they' had taken me away but... now I'm not so sure.

[With a concerned frown, she kneels down, first reaching out a hand, then pulling it back with a hesitant look. His appearance seemed really odd... Like the kind of surface people described in her studies. But he couldn't be human. An Astra'siel, perhaps?
Then again, natural born Astra'siel shouldn't have the sickness that's currently plaguing humans, as far as she's aware. She shakes off that hesitation, placing a hand on his shoulder.]
Seems like we're both in the same boat here. I just woke up here too.
no subject
He looks down, unsure if he should really be looking her right in the eyes.]
I don't know if I should talk about it. We're not supposed to question things so if someone heard me talking...
[Then again, if he was already taken, what did it matter? He's still hesitant, but he decides to share a little.]
It's... some kind of punishment for when we step out of line. They put us to sleep and take us away somewhere, but nobody knows exactly where it is or what happens when you get there. Just that... we never come back.
no subject
[She can tell how tense he's feeling. She's handled patients before as a trainee. Gently, she pats his shoulder as she speaks with an even tone.]
That sounds so awful. But it's all right. It sounds like a lot of people have been "taken", so to say. I certainly didn't expect to wake up here on the surface, for example.
[As she keeps her hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him, something still remains on her mind, causing her to frown.]
Though if you don't mind my asking - you don't seem to be human. And your features remind me of those residing on the surface - those of the Astra or Fairkin, perhaps? ... I'm sorry if it seems like a rude question; I was just wondering, really.
no subject
...and do you mean to say you live underground?!
[He definitely hadn't heard of anyone living under the ground on the island. Was that another secret the humans were hiding from them? Or... was it like the resistance? Were they hiding?
He's not sure if he's feeling better or more confused at this point.]
You're a human, so they wouldn't take you away. That's not how it works. And uh... I'm not really supposed to talk to humans unless I have a reason to.
