[A strange young man appears on the video, his tattoos glowing, helping to show off the angry face he put on. Clearly he was not in the mood for any of this. Hard not to be given his situation. He doubted this would help make him any friends, but--]

Look, I'm in a very foul mood, and my only upside today is that I can finally see snow rather than desert. [Although being shirtless didn't help at all.] So I'm just going to ask if anyone has seen a man named Dante. Has a red coat, loves to make dorky jokes, and is a demon hunter I already caught up with what that lady said, but I would prefer to get in touch with him. We have a contract after all.

Now with that said, I'm going to say this once: try to steal, kill, or eat me, and no one in this world will protect you from my wrath. Or try it. I need a good outlet to vent my frustration, one that isn't property damage...speaking of, someone may need to fix that...whatever the hell that thing was. A pod?

[A voice can be heard in the distance. It's small and sounds like a young girl. Naoki looks back and speaks.]

Considering I have been in a world where demons have been trying to eat me, I think giving that warning should be standard to be safe. [More talking, with him just sighing.] Uh huh. Look I doubt there are many women who like the tattoo style anyway. Now hurry up and--

[He looks back, rubbing his face.]

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. Have a nice...blizzard? I don't know. Feels like I missed a holiday or five.

[Gale stares a bit at the video, looking puzzled at Naoki's glowing tattoos since they seemed weirdly similar to the marks of synthetic skin he had. How weird. But it's rude to stare so he'll give a slight shrug.]

Sounds like the Dante I know, in which case you'll wanna head on over to Attleton. Dante's a deputy guardian there.

At the very least ya shouldn't have to worry about bein' eaten around here. Can't say I've heard of too many cannibalism incidents since I've been here.

So he is here then. I see...

[And judging from this guy, there did seem to be humans here as well. Already an upgrade from the correct world but--]

Then how often is there crime or unusual activities? Like demons and such?

[If this place needed guardians, he doubted it was fully safe. That lady mentioned some of it, but not all the details, he thought.]

Ehh, there's certainly no shortage of crime given how many bounties are always available. Can range anywhere from petty theft to murder, but the real "unusual" incidents might be once a month or so. Things like turnin' people into monsters for a week to occasional attacks from soul sucking ghosts.

[Technically emotion sucking ghosts, but details.]

Everglade is kinda spooky demon central here, but a good number of 'em ain't threats. Lot of them just wanna live normal lives like the folks in all the other cities.

[He was certainly perturbed by the weird amount of creatures in Everglade, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as people like to make it out to be.]

Everglade almost sounds like my home away from home. Might have to check that out then one day.

[Still no shortage of things like crime though? Maybe the bounty hunting gig would have to do for now. But good to know this place still had a safe haven for some demons.]

Aheh, welcome to Genessia...whoever you are. What's your name, anyway? Sorry that you've caught us at a bad time, but it sounds like it's a lesser affair than your own domestic evils.

Will you be needing warmer clothing?

[Most weirdos don't, but it doesn't hurt to ask.]

Name's Naoki. As for clothes, well...don't suppose you sell shirts for guys with horns on their necks, do you? Otherwise it's just going to tear.

[He has...bad experience with that.]

Oh, another from the orient! You'll find many of your fellows here. One moment...

[Yup, he went on hold while he looked up something. He's getting faster. Ten seconds later...]

A "straight tree", eh? May you not be so easily uprooted.

Goodness, I wasn't going to sell you anything. Who could be that mercenary? As it happens there are varieties that zip from the back. Trickier, but until we find creative tailors--one whom I happen to know--it'll have to serve. Are you still near The Bay?

[Walking out near the end of a blizzard to deliver a weird shirt to a weird neck-horn person? Sure why not.]

That will do I guess. Don't have much better things to do until I find Dante anyway.

Eheh, well, I hope you are not a demon, else your meeting may not be a merry one. I'll be over soon; stay put! Well, unless the blizzard becomes too much to bear, of course.

[He'll hang up then march through the snow to keep his word. A dozen minutes later, a colorfully dressed man appears, looking for someone in desperate need of a shirt.]

Wait what does that--

[And he was gone...this could end poorly. He waited though, spotting the man. But the man could see Naoki as well, clad in only shorts and shoes, along with more of those tattoos and the horn on his neck. He didn't look too pleased.]

So before you hung up, you said me being a demon would be a problem. How much exactly?

[The guy didn't seem intimidating, but never underestimate your for. His own Pixie was devastatingly powerful too.]

[Once he's under cover of the cave, Ted dug out a bright green sweater which, as promised, zips from the back. His mind is otherwise perturbed that the half-naked man before him is actually concerned with Dante's enmity with all demon-kind. Well, most.]

Eheh, I ah, was hoping that warning would be met with jest rather than anxiety. Will you need assistance putting this on?

[Whether he does, Ted keeps chatting.]

Er, well, before he got up to his current work, he set up shop explicitly to hunt and kill demons. Thankfully I don't think he got many requests, so now he's busy with general law enforcement.

[Ted's more comfortable with demons himself for meeting one of the Disgaean variety. Otherwise he'd have run, bared a weapon, or done something excitedly religious at the mere thought of meeting one.]

I got it covered.

[A small humanoid figure appears from behind Naoki, looking like a fairy clad in a blue leotard, with matching leggings and gloves. She took the coat and started to help Naoki into it, humming a rather cheery tune.]

I see, so that's why you are nervous. No worries there though. If this Dante is anything like the one I know, then things should be good in the future.

I ah, see...

[He cranes his neck around to get a better look at the fairy that just appeared.]

Well, I'm ah, glad to see you'll start on the right foot. What, er, is that thing? Did you...make it?

[He's got a bad feeling about this.]

[The fairy finishes zipping up the jacket, flying on top of Naoki's head as she did so.]

"Nope, I am one of the demons! The name is Pixie!"

[He just stares at Pixie, dumbfounded for a moment. "Demon", despite his experiences, remains an unsettling thing. And he's fairly certain the people enter into Genessia one soul at a time, so this thing talking to him wasn't what he'd call personal. He laughs nervously.]

I ah, I see.

[He pointedly addresses Naoki to the exclusion of the apparition.]

Warm enough for you? They say to dress in layers. Is there anything other aid I can offer?

It will suffice for now. I'm sure I will manage, so thank you....I don't think you gave me your name?

"Ah, you're very welcome. Ah! It's Ted; pleasure to meet you."

[He extends his hand for a shake. He believes heartily in this increasingly nerve-wracking man's competence; if he can pull fairies out of ~~his butt~~ the ether, what can't he do?]

[Naoki shakes the other man's hand; only right considering what was given to him.]

Likewise. Met too many jerks, so friendly faces are always welcome.

Aheh, I'm sorry to hear that. Well, perhaps this is my unique fortune talking, but I'd like to think we've got a good ratio of knights to knaves. With luck, your luck might change. Well, you let me know if aught else troubles you, all right? Until then, I think I'll be finding a way out of the cold that troubles you so little, haha.

[His phone goes off, Naoki briefly looking at it before staring back at Ted.]

And it seems like I finally have a destination. Until next time then.

[Naoki holds his hand out to the side, another demon being summoned. This time it's much larger in size, with a body nearly similar to a lion, though looking more canine. Its long and powerful tail swept through the snow, its breath and mere presence melting away some snow too. Naoki quickly got on its back, Pixie hanging on to the horn on the back of his neck too, waving back to Ted with a big smile.

With one loud roar, Cerberus speeds off with Naoki and Pixie, heading to meet a certain devil hunter...]

[He was prepared to part amicably before Naoki produced yet another spirit from his increasingly bizarre menagerie. He would've waved back to the Pixie, but for once, he's rendered silent. It's pretty cool, to be sure, but...

he's got nothin'.]

I'll have you know my jokes are awesome. Pff. Dorky my ass.

[He was gonna make a retort till he stated at Dante for a good few seconds, thinking...]

You sound and act like him alright, but you're younger, and your coat is a bit different too.

Hey, this coat is the same one I've had for years.

[A beat.]

...might actually want to change that sometime... Anyway, I was gonna ask how you know me. I don't really... recognize you, and something tells me you're not the type I'd be forgetting.

[So he didn't remember him. Given the state of this world, one possibility revealed itself.]

Then I guess I meet you in the future, where my world ended. You hunted me down after the apocalypse during a tournament between the Fiend demons, held by Lucifer himself. And yes, I mean THAT Lucifer.

After our fight though, you finally helped me change the world by forming a contract. Even now I can still feel the faint aura of it, but there's no chance of me summoning you to my side.

[Sadly, the same thing happened with Futomimi, who he revived during fusion. And unlike Dante, he couldn't sense the manikin at all.]

[He's just going to listen with a really blank look on his face before holding up a finger, going off screen and rummaging around for something before returning with Lucifer in hand.]

...This Lucifer? Because unless there's something I'm not aware of regarding Devil Arms, ol' Lucy here ain't going anywhere I don't say is okay.

[This was just... so surreal to him. But, he won't deny he did feel kinda weird when he saw the kid. At first he just thought it was gas.]

[Naoki stared a bit at it. So that was a Devil Arm the older Dante talked about...that looked cool and he wanted to know just what it did. But he had to make a correction.]

Not the weapon. Lucifer as in the fallen angel, the morning star, the rebellious king of hell. That is who I am referring to.

[Although that did make him curious. Was the devil arm the exact same thing?]

[Dante blinks, giving Lucifer a sidelong glance.]

There's the rub though, isn't it? A Devil Arm is the physical manifestation of a powerful demon's soul, forged into a weapon. I don't think I've heard of a Devil Arm bearing the name of a demon who's not... y'know. Dead.

Then again, I did just sorta found Lucy here. I guess it's possible the name isn't accurate...

Then what you said really is true, the older you I mean. I may have met a Dante, but it's possible both of you really are from a different dimension too. Would explain why you weren't emotional if the apocalypse really did wipe out your friends.

[But he is still fixated on that Devil Arm. It beared the name but--]

Can the soul communicate? Different dimension or not, I am now curious about that weapon and its name.

Huh. That's a thing. Didn't think the multiverse could handle two of me. I figured I'd cause a singularity of awesome or something.

[He shrugs.] If Lucy can talk, he sure hasn't done any.

Whatever the case, we met, we fought, and we worked together. So since I am new here can you help me out, or will I have to tough it out? I realize that's a lot to ask, but it's not exactly easy to trust everyone here.

[And Dante was the only one he could trust at the moment.]

Yeah, sounds about right. [He casually chucks Lucifer off to the side before starting to poke at his device.]

Well, considering I'm a deputy guardian here, I can't really just ignore a newcomer looking for help, so tell ya what. Come by my shop, and you'll have a place to crash as long as you need it. I'm sending directions to your phone.

[That made him wonder if some devil arms held resentment. Maybe. Future version of Dante didn't use any barring Rebellion, so no doubt some were bitter not being used for that. But at least he was making some progress.]

Thanks. I'll be over in a bit.

[And in just a few minutes, Naoki would be on the door knocking. With no demons spawning everywhere, he could safely ride using one of his demons without worry of an ambush.]

Dante, it's Naoki. I'm here now.

Door's open.

[Dante will just call from inside without really bothering to move.]

Bathroom's in the back, couch is over there -- [He jerks a thumb at the oddly expensive looking couch in the otherwise rundown looking shop.] -- and the fridge is on the way to the bathroom. Make yourself at home.

[Well he wasn't gonna complain about the couch; trying to find a bed in that hellish world was as rare as finding intact food. Moving inside, he already fell on it. Right, his body had went through a battle earlier. Some fatigue needed to wear off.]

Appreciate it...What's in the fridge anyway? Pizza?

And booze. It's the cheap shit, but it packs a punch at least. I'll be ordering more pizza this evening by the way. Any preferences?

Not really. I'll take just about anything.

[In a world with spoiled food and demon meat, he'd even be willing to eat pineapple pizza.]

...Should I send over my maid with a coat? Unless you're tough enough to not die dressed like that in a blizzard.

Already have someone on that. Unless they are also double as a tailor that can work around demon horns.

It's too cold for anyone or anything to go and try to be mean like that. You should be fine.

[....She's curious.]

Oh people or demons can find a way. They always do.

Unless something weird is making people do that. Is there something bad after you then?
