[ There is a new face on the screen, and is the face of a worried child. He will promise you later that he's a fifteen year old male, but that may be up for debate right now. He seems to be having trouble making eye contact with the camera. Eventually, he can be seen pinching his cheek and making a brave effort. ]

Um... Hello there. My name is Shi Yamato, uh. I don't get any of this, but I'm trying...

I'm sorry, I forgot that nice lady's name already. The one who said something about living here for a while? I don't know if it would be a good idea to have me live in a building with a bunch of other people...

Are there tents here? Is there somewhere far away I could set one up? For uh. Reasons? I promise I won't be any trouble, so please don't hurt me yet!

There are a lot of places to live, including single homes.

Why do you want to live in a tent?

A whole home would probably be wasted on someone like me...

I'm not safe for lots of people to be around.

What if I'm not a person? Then I should be fine, right?

[That does catch his attention. Shi looks quite confused as he considers that.]

I don't really know... [He takes a deep breath, then takes a chance:] Even spirits and Kami got hurt around me. I'm a curse, so...

That's fine.

[While Seth is technically a spirit, there is no way to kill him in this physical realm. Only if Shi can reach him in his true form will he be able to hurt him.]

Think about it. I live alone in a big place if you're interested.

Th-thank you for the offer...

[He does debate taking the stranger up on it. It isn't as if Shi wants to live alone. He's not naive enough to really think he can survive in a strange world all alone either.]

Um... What's your name? I'm uh... Shi... [Wait. He's already said that. In a flustered attempt not to just repeat information, he impulsively elaborates:] My Kami name is Shiro!

Seth Rim.

[He bows his head slightly before refocusing his pale yellow eyes at the screen.]

I work as a deputy in Everglade so while my home is in Genessia I'm sometimes not even there. [He works a lot.] It's really no trouble and you're welcome to move out if you decide you don't like me.

I-I would certainly appreciate it... If you're sure...!

[A deputy, too. Someone that Shi probably needs to make aware of his condition, if only to limit the trouble he might cause.]

But I don't know if that would be safe for you. I, um... I'm a Curse Kami. I... gather and spread misfortune.

I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't sure. I live at Tupelo Alley, at Oak Ave. and 8th St. Room 201.

[Seth shakes his head.]

It'll be fine. Curses don't have much of an affect on me. I can explain my confidence though I'd much rather do it in person.

Y-Yes! I understand. I'll head over then!

[Though he doesn't really understand. Curses being ineffective? That's a fantasy for Shi.

He does understand the numbered streets. It's not hard to find 8th and then travel the grid to Oak Ave. He's pretty slow with his approach, making sure that no one is following or too close. Shi ends up outside the building, nervous about going inside.]

Room 201... Second floor?

[Tupelo Alley is a classy and elegant building, with a clubhouse attached that seems more like an expensive house. The apartments appear to be on the second, third, and fourth floors while the amenities are all on the first floor.

Seth is standing by the window to his apartment when Shi arrives. He doesn't trust that the boy understands and decides that a look out is necessary. When he sees Shi stand outside he waits before walking down to meet him.]

[Shi definitely needed the help. Such a beautiful building put the kid on edge. He's conflicted between thinking it must be incredibly safe (and disaster proof,) but also worrying that if he causes trouble it will be extreme.

So like an evil spirit that needs an invite, he waits until someone comes to physically invite him in. At the very least, that will make him feel less out of place here.]

Oh... Hello, s-sir. Thank you for um.. the invite...

[Seth snickers softly and waves for the boy to follow him inside. It's cold out and while it doesn't bother Seth, he prefers to wear less as a general rule.]

Come inside. I have coffee.

[He waits for Shi before walking up towards his apartment. It's really a nice place and far to large for one person.]

Tell me about your curse.

[It's such a strange order of requests: Come inside for coffee, then talk about your curse? Shouldn't his curse come first? What if the details are unacceptable to Seth?

So Shi begins explaining quickly. Following, yes, but not wanting to leave Seth unprepared.]

I am a Curse.. uh, a Curse Kami. I collect and spread misfortune, and if people blame me for things then I gain power... It can become a dangerous cycle if I'm not careful.

[For whatever reason, Seth doesn't look overly concerned. His tongue plays with his lip ring, flicking the loop of metal back and forth as he lost himself to his thoughts. Cursed. He doesn't know about the rules or laws of Shi's world but he has some experience with curses.]

I told you that my name was Seth Rim right? [He asks as he pushes open the door to his apartment for Shi to enter.] That isn't my real name. That name had been given to me a couple thousand years ago and I decided to carry it with me. [It's also why he doesn't technically have a middle name.]

I've seen a lot and I mean it when I say that you can't hurt me. This form is made of magic to let me walk around the physical world. It isn't my real form. I will also never blame you for things.

[See, easy.]

I see...

[He enters quickly, though that speed is sapped quickly by his awe. This is a really nice place and Shi feels a bit bad for being here. He's troubling someone really important, is what he's decided.]

This body is sort of dead, actually... I might not be the real owner. B-But don't worry, I won't let it decay all over your carpet or anything. [He points to his pale cheeks, smiling weakly.] Once I buy cosmetics, I can look more alive...

[Seth would bark out a laugh if he knew that Shi mistook him for someone important. He's spent his whole life trying to be nobody.]

Nice to know. If you do decay over anything just clean it up. I don't mind. [His idea of normal is very strange.]

So what do you think? Do you want to live here?

I-I mean... If it's an option...

[Seth does sound like a safe person to live with. This place is probably disaster-proof and it'll be a huge help until he can safely camp. At the same time, being a burden just makes Shi feel like he's validating the 'curse' label.]

I... I can cook! And clean! I'm very good at those kinds of things!

It is. I don't make offers that I don't mean.

You can do whatever around here. I suggest getting a job too. [Not because he needs help with rent or will charge Shi but because doing nothing is boring.]

Oh, my talent with magic is shields. If you feel you need some extra protection let me know. There are a lot of magic users here who can help you too. If you ask them.

Yes! Thank you so much, or uh-- [He's having trouble organizing his words completely as he is so flustered.]

There are? It seems to be an open topic around here... Back home, humans are a bit threatened by the idea of Kami and Spirits. We usually kept quiet... But maybe it would be safe here?

[Seth doesn't mind waiting until he figures out what he wants to say.]

It is and it isn't. Depends on the type of magic but there are a lot of people here with magic. Myself included.

It's safer and like I said, you can make a mess as long as you clean it up afterwards.

I see... Okay. I understand. Thanks so much.

[Shi bows a short, nervous sort of bow.]

Maybe... Maybe I can find someone here with a kind of magic that can help me. Then I could be safer to be around... [This is more of an internal thought. Sih nods to himself, clenching his fists.]

I'm going to do my best!

[Seth places his palm on the kids head and ruffles it affectionately.]

I believe in you. Now, there is a key in that drawer there that you can use and there are two open rooms so you can pick which one you like best. [He has a two bedroom apartment but since Seth doesn't technically sleep he doesn't use the bed rooms. He can sometimes be found on the couch with his eyes closed but he's never really asleep.

Sleeping for Seth means dreaming and dreaming requires that he releases his form in the physical world.]

[The gesture is unfamiliar, but not unwelcome. Shi even smiles a bit, encouraged by the contact.]

Yes, sir. I'll try to get a job soon. [He looks up at Seth properly again.] Let me know of anything I can do for you.

Take your time. I have to head to work but get comfortable.

[He flashes the boy a smile before heading for the door.]
