New Year, New Recruits [Closed to Fairy Haven regulars/Residents]

WHO: Mavis, Tatlyn, Erza, Mira and anyone who happens to be at Fairy Haven at that time.
WHAT: Mavis and Tatlyn discussed during the blizzard of the possibility of Tatlyn becoming Fairy Tail's resident healer. They agreed that Tatlyn would come over to Fairy Haven once the storm is over so that she could demonstrate her healing magic and meet the rest of the gang guild.
WHEN: Slightly backdated to January 7th, 2018.
WHERE: Fayren - Fairy Haven.
WARNING: None that comes to mind.

Mavis had talked to Erza and Mirajane about Tatlyn and the impressive healing ability she'd told her she had. She was genuinely thinking she'd make a wonderful addition to their guild. So this 'interview' was more of a formality than anything else.

She had also talked about her to Zeref, of course. And even he had seemed curious about her.

Besides, Mavis liked how lively the young wolf girl was. She would blend in just fine. Mira certainly would appreciate having another musician among their guildmates, too.

Now that the blizzard was over, Mavis was happily walking barefoot in the snow. When Tatlyn would get there, she would find her finishing a snowman, or rather a snow fairy, helped by two of her Pokémon: Floette and Mudkip.

[Once it was safe for her to run wild, Tatlyn did just that. Dashing towards Fayren's woods with the floating stride of fairy, which is almost what the Elin are!

Wearing her usual collared dress and a pink backpack, she hopped through the snow while following the map to Fairy Haven. But as she approached, she slowed down and pulled her tin whistle from the sleeve she got for Christmas. She ought to thank Mavis in person for it. With it in hands, Tatlyn played a little tune or two as almost a way to signal her approach.

Now Fairy Haven was in sight, she can see Mavis building a snow-thing with wings. The temptation was there, but if she wanted to be professional, she can't do it by trying to sneak up on her and spook her. She finished up her songs on the tin whistle and stowed it away as she got to a comfortable chatting distance.]

Maaa~vis. I'm here. Barely survived the snow storm, I see~

[Jack is at work and getting ready for his shift checking inventory and just generally getting the bar neat. He decides to step outside for a second to get some fresh air and see how the snow clean up is going. He might stand out because he's standing outside in the cold, sleeves rolled up and no coat.

He's so used to the cold and wet of Wales, this type of cold doesn't really bother him either. He spots the newcomer and smiles and waves.]

Hi there. New here?

[Mavis recognized the sound of Tatlyn's tin before she even saw her. Even if she'd tried, it would have been difficult for Tatlyn to scare Mavis by sneaking up on her. She wouldn't have thought it was unprofessional, though. Fairy Tail members were known to be rowdy, playful and full of surprises. Most of them, at least. And it was part of what made it more than just a guild, it was a family.

She stood up, brushing the snow off her dress. She waves at her in greeting.] Hi, Tatlyn.

[She chuckled softly at Tatlyn's joke. Then she heard Jack's voice behind her. She briefly turned around to smile at him before her attention returned to Tatlyn.] Tatlyn, this is Jack: one of Fairy Haven's bartenders. Jack, this is Tatlyn. She's thinking of becoming Fairy Tail's healer.

[Tatlyn bows in a formal greeting.]

It's good to meet you, Mister Jack. I look forward to wowing you with my magic.

[She looks to Mavis.]

How many others are here? Are there lots?

[fairysoul]

[A soft chuckle.]The place can get pretty crowded at times. [Whenever Mirajane decides to throw a party for instance.]

Usually it's me, Zeref, Erza, Mirajane, Jack and Dorian. Dorian is our light magic instructor but he doesn't live here. [Hopefully, he'll be around today so that Tatlyn can meet him too.]

I look forward to meeting everyone!

[That wolfy tail of hers swaying side to side.]

What's first on the agenda? Tour the Haven? Meet everyone? Demonstrate my healing? Tickle someone?

[Mavis chuckles.] You can tickle Jack if he'll let you.

Let's take you on a tour first. [Mavis is eager to have Tatlin meet everyone.]

First, there's the main building that we call the guild hall. The other two buildings on the side are additional dorms, the bath house and the place where you could set up your infirmary if you want. [Basic furniture are already in the 'infirmary', but without a resident healer, it's never been completely finished.]

[Tatlyn probably won't, but you can never be totally 100% sure with Elins.

She "oo'd" and "aaw'd" about the dorms and infirmary.]

Is it my own room? And can I decorate the infirmary how I wish?

[Mavis enjoys Tatlyn's enthusiastic reactions to the tour. She is, after all, pretty proud of Fairy Haven, even if she wasn't actually the one who started building this one, contrarily to what she did back home.

She nods.] You can pick the room you want and make it your own. And, of course, you can. That's the prerogative of the resident healer. [She winks. She might as well have said that Tatlyn officially got the job.]

[There was no way this Elin could hide her glee. Her furry wolf tail was simply swaying side to side.]

I want there to be plenty of decorative plants and a log bed. Make it reminiscent to Pora Elinu.

[It seems she clearly understands. However, she did try to shift to be more professional.]

This is great and all, but shouldn't I demonstrate my magic before anything else?

Pora Elinu? Is it your homeland? I would love for you to tell me about it. It sounds like a beautiful place, very much alike the island I'm from.

[Mavis likes that she wants to act professional about it, but she's also one to trust her instincts and impressions. So, somehow, she already knows she won't be disappointed in Tatlyn. Still she nods.]

You should. And this is actually the perfect time for you to do it.

Also...

[She pulls out two pokeballs out of her pocket.]

I have a little test for you and your magic. Do you know what Pokemon are?

[She nods happily, going into gesturing her description of the place. So much for a professional demeanor.]

Oh yes! Pora Elinu is the capital of the entire Popori Kingdom! It's home to all Elin. Unlike other cities, it's built vertically inside of a giant tree. From here, the feuding princesses, Arin and Rida, feud while their Queenly mother holds court.

[But then she stops, curious about the shiny object. It was shiny, and round. It was pretty.]

What's a Pokémon?

[fairysoul]

Popori? [That's a cute name.] And you are an Elin, right? [She pauses and gives Tatly a genuine smile.] That sounds like a beautiful place.

They're magical creatures. They exist under a hundred of different forms at least. Some are gigantic, some are really tiny. Some use fire, others water or dark magic. One of their particularities is that, although they only repeat their names, they can still communicate between species of Pokémon as if they were talking the same language.

They can be taught how to fight and they can morph into pure energy and be stored in Pokéballs.

[She gently throws both Pokéballs in front of her and the balls open revealing two Pokemon: Floette and Mudkip.]

They can be healed using special potions. But do you think you could heal them as well if needed?

Yep! We even created the Popori. There's a bit of history behind that, but another time.

[The glowing energy that emerged from the balls was a tad startling. She didn't expect this! She examined the cute creatures and wondered if they were natural or engineered.]

That's a good question. I've never seen animals like these before. Well, if I can heal Barakas, then I should be able to heal Pokémon.

Think we should try?

Count on me to ask about it again. [Mavis liked stories, especially about civilizations or beings that didn't exist or were rare in her world.]

Well, Mudkip here got a little stratch from this morning's training. Can you show Tatlyn, Mudkip?

[Mudkip looked reluctantly from Mavis to Tatlyn. He clearly understood what Mavis wanted from him but he seemed hesitant. Eventually he walked to Tatlyn presenting his flank where the small scratch was to the healer.]

Let's see if you can heal a Pokémon, Tatlyn!

[As the Pokémon approached, Tatlyn reached behind herself to her backpack, detaching what looked like a ordinary accessory that had been hanging on it. It was a small rod with a crystal orb on one end. But then, it extended like a mechanical bo staff and it was now a rod that was as long as she was tall.

Tatlyn holds the staff upright as magic wisps appeared around her going into the orb of the staff. With a motion, a wisp flies from the orb to Tatlyn's hand, then she holds her hand to Mudkip. The white wisp drifts to the little blue Pokémon and enveloped it in a gentle light. The light lasts only for a second or two.

Tatlyn gestures to let Mavis see for herself if the scratch was healed properly.]

[Erza's sitting inside the guild, having a cup of hot chocolate. While it was tempting to build some kind of over-the-top snow sculpture, she's had enough of the cold for now.

She doesn't seem surprised upon seeing the new arrival, despite the ears and tail; between Carla, Pantherlily, Millianna, Lisanna, and Blair, she's seen a decent amount of people who are either part-animal or dress up like one on a regular basis.]

You're the one that Mavis mentioned, Tatlyn, right? It's a pleasure to meet you.

[Tatlyn nods as she approached carefully.]

Yep, that's me. And you must be... [Using amazing powers of deduction.] ...Either Mirajane or Erza.

[At least she can't be wrong.]

That's right. I'm Erza - Mavis has told me that you're a skilled healer, which is high praise coming from her.

[twin_tailed_wolf]

[She knew she would be right if she used as many names as possible.]

And I aim to prove her right. You're in for quite a show, Miss Erza.

So how does it work? One of our guild's healers back home used a lot of potions and medicines, while another used magical spells. I'm curious if you do either of those, though I suppose it could be something else entirely. [Given the sheer number of places that people could come from, just about anything seems possible.]

Magic! One-hundred percent all the way.

Wanna see my staff?

[She bounces her backpack on her back. It's where she keeps literally everything now.]

Sure. I suppose a demonstration is in order; you seem up for it, at least.

[twin_tailed_wolf]

[Tatlyn smiled as she reached behind herself and flipped up a side pocket on her bag, pulling out a short rod and brought it forward. The rod grew and extended until it was as tall as she was as she held it upright. It was a black and gold trimmed crook staff with a peculiar orb on the top. It seems particularly old, but well maintained.]

This has been my companion for over a lifetime, you know. I have no name for it, though.

{ If and when Mavis would lead Tatlin to the second story of the guild building - off-limits to anyone who isn't a member of the guild, with only one notable exception - they'd find Zeref in Mavis' small library, reading a book. Closer inspection would find that it's an epic poem: the Illiad, by Homer. Another larger, older book wasn't far from him, though it lay closed.

Zeref would look up the moment he heard them approach. He'd cast a brief smile in Mavis' direction, before turning to the girl with the unusual ears. }

And who is this?

{ His tone was polite enough, but it would be clear that socializing usually isn't his thing. }

[She didn't answer right away. She noticed the larger book, and immediately assumes the title was somewhere along the lines of "The Giant Freaking Book of Magic and Stuff." Because this is a magic guild, right? It made sense to her on a comical level.

Finally, she looks to the raven-haired fellow.]

Hi, I'm Tatlyn. You're new favorite healer.

{ ... kind of. This was definitely the safest place for that particular book in this world; at least nobody here would try reading it. }

Is that so?

{ Here's hoping she doesn't say that to Erza; she'd get an earful that might sound vaguely like Wendy's biography. Zeref met her when she was here, in this world. She really did take after Grandeeny. }

I admit I don't know many healers. { Unless you count Brandish. } Another recruit, Mavis?

[Mavis nods and smiles.] Indeed. This is Tatlyn's interview but she's doing so well that I have little doubt regarding the outcome.

[She winks at Tatlyn.]
