Ah, the poles of the planet earth are the coldest sections of the planet. You see, the planet earth has a very diverse series of climates depending on the location in relation to the sun.

The equator, or the surface of the planet towards the middle, is the warmest, while the northern most and southern most sides of the planet are the coldest. These are called the poles, due to their magnetic nature. The north and the south possess opposite but equally powerful magnetic fields-

... I honestly cannot tell you how many earth like planets there are, there's a great deal of course but the architecture and technology suggests that the primary life form here are humans....
