[Eliot has come to be quite accepting of strange happenings during his long lifetime. When he wakes up in a cocoon, of all things, he is pretty quick to accept that he might be a pod person from here on out. It isn't unusual for him to suddenly feel lost or confused: He's used to amnesia, for the worst reasons.

So, after watching the hologram (twice, if he's allowed. This is pretty cool,) he takes out his new communicator and fiddles with it briefly. When his face shows up on the screen, he looks relieved to have figured it out.]

Good afternoon. My name is Eliot Durant. I guess I used my pocket watch again, because I'm pretty confused. Is Ophelia here? Anyone? Or am I alone? How much of my confusion is justified here?

[... He waits a moment. Then seems to deflate, disappointed at his own realization:]

Uuugh. I'm not making any sense. Maybe I should use the pocket watch after all... At least there's snow. It's pretty here. I probably won't get too cranky if the scenery is nice...?

[Maybe a half hour after the last video, Eliot is back again. This time looking much less like an airhead and more like a grumpy old man stuck in a teenager's body. Apparently, scenery doesn't correlate with being cranky. Who'da thought.]

Of course it's snowing. This is a great way to start. I'm sorry to make such a bold and out landish request, but I'm going to need for someone to point me in the direction of either a butcher's shop or a fruit juice store. How do these things not cross my mind when I'm like that? I should really be dead at this rate...

As for how you got here I do not think it is your pocket watch even if it has the ability to jump worlds.

I was beginning to figure as much... And seeing as I woke up so close to that neat introductory thing, I'm guessing I haven't been here before?

[Eliot taps his pocket watch all the same. He knows that between this two personalities, he is the less intelligent one.]

She made it sound like you all have a lot of interesting types of people here.

Well given how long I've been here if you had been here before, I would have noticed.

[He was at least pretty sure about that anyway.]

And that is indeed true, you'll soon find out by yourself.

That's both reassuring, and unfortunate. I was hoping I could get home soon, but that woman in white has no reason to lie, huh?

If that's all true... I assume there's no prejudice against vampires? Not to imply I'll be attacking anyone like in Hollywood, of course..?

No, she does not. She's been here for as long as I have after all and she is a very honest person.

Not in Everglade, no. Or anywhere for that matter, people seem rather accepting so long as you don't you know actually cause harm.

Everglade is another one of the areas here, right? Is it the one you stay at, sir?

[A beat. Then, very reluctantly:] There aren't going to be politics here, are there?

Depends on what exactly you want to know? Like what kind of people, or housing, or anything like that?

[He nodded slightly.]

In all the cities there is, so yes.

Well, for example... I realize having a vampire in the neighborhood makes some people uncomfortable, at least back home. Is Everglade the most accepting city here?

[Acknowledging the note about politics, Eliot groans.] I had better get to memorizing policies and faces, then.

It's where vampires live, but I haven't found anyone who is uncomfortable about vampires, at least not publicly.

[Fai himself wasn't because he was a vampire at one time in his life, but when he got his magic back that seemed to go.]

It should be too hard to remember it all.

Well, that's a change of pace I can get used to.

[Eliot nods.] Thank you for going out of your way to help. I think I know where to go from here now.

After spending many years here helping people who need it is the least I could do.

[Rapunzel pondered over how to answer this video and instead she was already outside.]

If you don't find these places does that mean you'll die? I mean you mentioned that you should really be dead at this rate and I assumed this... Sorry if I am wrong though.

Something like that. I have "unique" dietary needs... You wouldn't happen to know where I can find those, would you?

[As he speaks, Eliot is shivering noticably. He can't regulate his own body temperature without blood. Being a vampire is annoying like that.]

I believe I know where a butcher shop is. I walk by one sometimes.

[However she has never really gone into it, but she is still walking regardless.]

I will happily show you where it is.

I would appreciate it. Thank you, ms. I can't imagine it's a place you'd want to go.

[She seems like the gentle sort, he means. Eliot himself doesn't really like butcher shops. If he had his way, he would never have to buy bloody meat... But it's better than freezing to death, or hurting a human.]

I'm Eliot Durant. I just arrived.

I've never really been in one, so it will be an interesting experience.

[She was taking a look around as she walked, trying to figure out how far away she was. She didn't think it was that far at least.]

I'm Rapunzel and I believe I should be near you.

[It crosses Eliot's mind that his could all end in disaster. Hopefully this is one of those well kept, clean, non-disturbing shops.]

Wonderful. I guess... I'll wave? I'm wearing a ridiculous green coat. [Covered in ribbons and bows... More suited to his human personality than grouchy vampire Eliot.]

[Rapunzel looked around, keeping an eye out before spotting them. At least she figured it was them. They did mention wearing a ridiculous green coat and that sort of looked like it was a green coat.

So she happily made her way over, her hair for once up and not being dragged along the floor.]

And found you, hello in person.

[Eliot look markably tired when she approaches. He doesn't trust himself to go back to his human persona just yet... He's too distractable and stupid. He wouldn't have the heart to go for animal blood either.

So he's been in Grouchy Mode. Which makes it hard to so much as blink his eyes without seeing gruesome images in his memories. He doesn't look Rapunzel in the eye for more than a moment, afraid of recognizing a facial feature and remembering someone.]

Thank you. Sorry for the trouble. [He sighs, trying to pull himself together.] I'm also sorry to be in a rush, but I need to make this quick.

Ah, that's fine. I hope not to take too long showing you.

[She turned gesturing for him to follow her as she started to walk.]

It's this way.

It's no trouble.

[He follows her quickly, though he's slower than he wants to be. Due to exhaustion more than anything. It's becoming apparent to Eliot that he needs to do something about his human self's lack of selfcare.]

Are you always this helpful, by any chance?

I am. [A pause.] Is that a bad thing?

[She had had a few people say various things and she wonders if being this way really was a bad thing.]

No, not at all.

[His face says otherwise. But Eliot's always grouchy when he has his memories. His eyes sting in this cold weather, because he's terrified of blinking. Talking is at least moderately distracting.

For now, he shakes his head and then takes a moment to rub his stinging eyes.]

I'm kind of an idiot sometimes. Hopefully I'll run into you again when I'm being stupid and need help.

Hey, hey. I am sure that is not true.

[She frowned slightly for the moment.]

I'm sure you just run into problems you don't understand, that's not being an idiot or stupid.

No, I can assure you. I am a genuine fool.

[Though, he doesn't sound too bitter about it. After all, better to be a happy fool than a cranky vampire.]

... Not to say that not understanding something is a bad thing, of course. It's when you choose not to understand that it becomes annoying, or... [Eliot shakes his head again, trying to shove his thoughts away.]

Never mind. I'll get the blood and get out of your... hair. [Is that expression insensitive when she has such long hair? He opens his eyes properly when looking at her, making sure he hasn't insulted her.]

Then what does it mean to be a fool if not that?

[Because she was at least trying to understand, but wasn't sure if she did or not.]

Do people choose to not understand something? [She thought about it a little more and honestly she figured that was what she was like back home. She chooses not to go into things more with her mother question wise. After a while, she would just stop and accept what she said. But that was the old her, at least in her mind.

She paused for a moment, finding herself baffled a bit by the last sentence.]

Is the line you said literal?

[It's a rare moment when vampire Eliot expresses a more human emotion, like this startled and embarrassed look.]

Ahh, no... Not literally. I'm sorry, that expression was... a poor choice.

[Oh dear. If he's actually insulted her then he doesn't deserve blood, even animal blood. Eliot is minding his poor attitude and bad word choices now, even if it is exhausting.]

The next time we meet, I'll have chosen to be a fool. I'll have wiped my memories.

[Rapunzel had no idea if it had meant to be an insult or not, so she didn't exactly take offense to it at all.]

No, it's fine, I am just a little behind of sayings and such... But I am catching up every day.

[She tilted her head slightly.]

Chosen to be a fool. Wiping memories... Wait that means you can wipe memories which means you'll forget everything that you talked about? That's kind of sad.

Well, I won't remember to be sad.

[Oops, he answered a bit too quickly and too bluntly. Eliot is really trying to stay engaged in this conversation, but it's very difficult. There's too much going on in his head.]

It's only fair to warn you. I can remember everything I encounter. When it gets to be too much, I store my memories away and enjoy some foolish ignorance.

[As he speaks, Eliot takes out his pocket watch. Once again: It's only fair he warns her. She's been very kind and he doesn't want her hurt when he doesn't recognize her in the future.]

I keep the side of me that knows, and the side that doesn't, separate. I'm sure you'll enjoy the other side of my personality better. I'm not as rude.

Get too much? [She wondered what he would consider too much, she didn't know what her limit was personally, but she also guessed it's happened before.]

You make it sound like it's happened a lot. [She gives a small frown at the thought though, slowly she found herself shaking her head.]

I don't think you've been rude at all. Why do you think you have been?

I'm making a stranger show me where to get blood. That's either rude, or disgusting of me.

[This side of Eliot seems to think very highly of himself. Once again, he's rubbing his eyes in an attempt to keep them open. He still doesn't like closing them, even to blink.]

There are some things that I wish I could forget... But a library doesn't get to pick or choose what knowledge it holds. If it did, it wouldn't be a very good library.

I didn't think of it like that.

[Speaking of, she sees the place, pointing it out.]

Here it is. [She paused glancing over slightly.] So why can't a library choose?

If by "alone" you mean "without those you're familiar with", I'm afraid so. I've not met any Ophelia's here, sadly.

Secondly, why would using a pocket watch confuse? I would think a timepiece was meant to dispel confusion.

[Someone's chipper.]

That's not good... I do hope someone else if looking after Ophelia. Our classmates might try to eat her if I'm not there...

[He gives his head a shake. Trying to be positive, he reminds himself that Ophelia is technically protected by the fact she's officially his assistant... As long as he's not gone long enough to be declared dead, she should be fine?]

My apologies. It's best I explain that. I use my pocket watch to deal with a memory issue of mine. If I'm careless, I tend to forget important things...

Oh, well, no worries there. Current theory holds that your world proceeds as if you've never left, which is fortunate, for that's a very disturbing thought. Haha, what, is she made of gingerbread?

[He can guess the real reason. Friggin vampires...]

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. How does the pocket watch help? It sounds more significant than, say, a red ribbon around one's finger.

[Ophelia would probably really appreciate being compared to food when there is a legit threat of her being eaten.]

She's a ghost. It's very rare that the magicians in my world come across a human soul they can use without being murderers... If that makes sense? [He shakes his head, trying not to think about it.] My pocket watch lets me hide my memories for a while. I'm a library... I'm quite cranky and unpleasant when I remember too much.

Don't worry about it.

[Again, he laughs at the correction before resuming his horror at the hellscape Eliot continues to flesh out. Some people are from truly awful places. Still, he's getting used to them, if his slight yet unyielding smile is any indication.]

Aheh, that's...hm. So magicians and murder go hand-in-hand, eh? And to use her soul they'd have to eat her?

Wait, haha, you "are" a library? A repository of information that the pocket watch comfortably limits?

Yes, something like that... ahh... I hope Ophelia is going to be okay...

[Eliot now sounds a tad bit distracted. He thinks he's hiding his worries well, but he is not. at all.]

Ahhhm yes, something like that. Probably not much help here, since my knowledge applies to back home... Once I find the library here, I can start memorizing it and storing it in my memory... Umm, is there a library here? [He could use a distraction from all this worrying.]

I believe she'll be just as you left her: nothing more, nothing less.

[Hopefully that's comforting.]

Oh, you're eidetic? I'm jealous! Still, I've to wonder why you'd willingly store things when it's such an inconvenience. Does altruism compel you?

Ahah, yes, of course we have a library. This is a civilization, after all. Goodness, so many are interested there. Why, I wonder, does Genessia love bookworms so much? I've a few guesses. Well, do you need directions?

It's more like "I don't have a choice." Can't seem to filter what I do and don't remember, even after all of this time. If I was mortal, I'd have gone insane before I was twenty.

[That might be a joke. Eliot knows he wouldn't have gone insane in his mortal life, since it took sixty years for him to develop his hypnosis trick.

Directions would be great. I take it you must have an interest in books as well?

Bah, awful lot of alleged immortals Genessia's bringing about, eh? Almost sounds desperate of them, as if having a long life were the thing. Don't they know quality beats quantity? Well, you don't look a day over eighteen.
