Oh, on the contrary, I think it very good. Here.

[If there's a place to sit, he'll motion over. If not, the bare street works too.]

Your origin story is, to my ears, a familiar one. That stuff about being, somehow, molded by human belief, particularly of the superstitious sort. I know two in particular that could tell a very similar tale. A belief in misfortune was personified--they being the persons--and so a target was made for otherwise unfocused hatred.

So they lived and so they suffered, for their life was intrinsically, spiritually bound to embodying the belief and, in so doing, justifying the enmity. A vicious cycle. Over time they were able to change things, bit by bit, either through willpower or the lenience of time or some other equally mysterious process.

Well, I don't know much about that past. Anyway, they came to Genessia, with their views of themselves in tact. That is, if people didn't believe in them and the misfortunes they supposedly meant, they'd perish.

[He catches his breath for a pregnant pause. He speaks almost as fast as the human ear can intelligibly listen.]

Suffice to say, that didn't happen. Logically you can't believe in something you haven't heard of, and as most everyone's a stranger to each other in Genessia, well, it seemed as though they were doomed from the start. Curiously, despite everyone being wholly ignorant of them, they exist and continue to exist unperturbed.

[He says that as though that's supposed to be ridiculous.]

And yet, here they are, all their paranoia laid to rest.

[He considers being a bore and explaining the moral of the story, but figures Shi's intelligent enough to get it. But just to make sure...]

Do you see what I'm getting at?
