If anyone should need me today, I'll be in my room, listening to an audio book. I'm available via the phone as well, but I will be taking a day to myself from training and practicing with my culinary skills.

[It's his birthday. He's not telling.]

Are you any good?

I would say that I took pride in my skills prior to... my injury. I'm not quite up to par anymore, however I am working on it.

Injury? What happened?

[ She hasn't thought of an injury that would make her stop cooking.. and this doesn't sounds like he did either, but it's still scary and she wants to know what it is! COOKING IS LIFE. ]

... An audio book?

[He doesn't mean to ask it aloud, but curiosity got the better of him. The islands weren't exactly the most technologically advanced world, but... He always caught on quickest of his friends. So when he realizes he did say it aloud, he's prompt in adding:]

Which one? Been looking for something to listen to lately.

It's called, A History of Insomnia... Something I received from home this past Christmas. It's interesting to hear what past historians thought of the place my friends and I are from.

[Lucky. All he got was some hoodie he can't use until after it warms up a bit more. Not that he'd complain about it. Though something jumps out at him: Insomnia. He's heard that city name tossed around a few times by one individual in particular.]

A friend of Prompto's, then? [The faint smile's likely audible. Even if he has no idea which one it is.] He... may have mentioned the city a couple times.

[There's an amused noise on his end, and it can be heard as he speaks.]

Prompto is quite popular it seems. Good for him. Yes, I am a friend of his. My name is Ignis, if he's mentioned me by name.

[Ignis... He makes an affirmative noise.]

Good to have a voice to the name. I'm Riku. [By which he means.. Yeah, he had.] And he'd reached out to me, when I first arrived.

[He's not going to say why. He's still embarrassed about tripping over a box.]

That sounds like him. [Aww, he's actually proud of his friend for reaching out to new people! That amused tone in his voice is probably obvious.]

Going back to the original topic, I know the library has some audio books that one can rent out. A friend of mine looked into it for me.

Ah- although, reading them is probably a better option if it's available to you.

[It is, and it earns a soft "heh" on his end.]

Guess I'll have to make my way there at some point. Though it'll be a bit tough navigating inside.

Practicing your culinary skills? What kind of skills are you going to practice?

To be honest, it's more re-learning how to do things. Using my sense of smell and taste to get my recipes correct.

I know taste is a big part of cooking, so it's always good to re-learn that, though you say re-learn as something happened before and you have to start all over again.

And I wouldn't trust ANY of you to make a cake. I would think you would have the sense to buy one.

Gotta save money. ( you can't hear it, but there's a shrug, and a sly sort of grin in the sound of his voice. )

Completely unrelated of course, but sugar's a good enough substitute for flour, right?

Okay Noct... [Arms crossed, leans against the door frame.] You win. Am I to make my own birthday cake, or were you just trying to get me out of the room?

ignis may be able to smell the array of ingredients that noct had laid out on the countertop. unlike he'd claimed, everything they'd need was there, he'd even consulted a recipe!— and the self-satisfaction might even be heard in his voice. )

I thought we could make it together. Unless you're interested in a birthday disaster. ( he chuckles. )

Ignis. Surely there are other things we could do for a day of rest that you have declared.

So, curious, what other things did you have in mind?

Well... if cooking and training have been removed from the table... then perhaps we should simply spend time getting to know one another. I am afraid what I know of the Crownsguard is very limited.

If you'll allow me about half an hour, we can meet for coffee? I'm not opposed to spending the day with you, if that's what you wish to do. Not to mention I should probably get out at least once today. I can try and answer any questions you may have within reason.

There may even be some embarrassing stories of Noctis if I think about it. [This is not a good idea for the rest of the bros.]
