[Hello, Genessia. What greets your vision is somewhat messy blue spikes that, upon closer examination, appear to be someone's hair. This is Ryu, and he's trying to do his best to figure out how to work this newfangled machine thing. He did take some time to read the pamphlet and follow its instructions, and now he's trying to figure out how to get ahold of anyone. How he ended up here from the Desert of Death is beyond him, but he would like to know if his friends survived the destruction of Myria Station.]

Okay, I think this is working... Can anyone hear me? I'm Ryu, I'm looking for my friends. There's fi-- Four of them. [He corrects himself, remembering the brief glimpse he had of Garr's demise.]

One of them is a Wyndian lady named Nina. She has a red dress and wings. The second is a Grass Runner woman by the name of Momo. You'll know her by her blue robes and a bazooka she carries around. Then there's my brother Rei, he has a big tail with stripes on it, and then there's Peco. He kind of looks like an onion, and he doesn't really talk in any language. If anyone could tell them I'm here, or tell me where to find them, I'd be very grateful for your help!

[There's a shy smile there as well, for how well traveled he is otherwise, the boy is a bit out of his depth here.]

Or if you can tell me where I am, that would probably be a better place to start.

Of course and I do wish you good luck in that. If you need help, I'm always willing to offer. But depending on what though because if it's quite big, it might cost you.

So you're a mercenary, huh?

I guess you could say we're sort of the same there.

Technically, I'm a sphere hunter, but there aren't really spheres to find here so I would need to do something and well because I got here I was being a mercenary as you put it.

[It was because she wanted to help people.]

What's a sphere? Is it some kind of rare treasure or something?

[He definitely gets that. Though it looks like plenty of people need help when you're looking to ask God a few questions.]

I mean there's nothing wrong with trying to make a living with skills you're good at.

It's... I can't exactly explain it well for those not from my world, but it's a sphere obviously and it usually shows something that was filmed.

[She wonders if she could have explained that better.]

There isn't, but here there isn't all that much that my skills are good for.

So it's some sort of recording machine? Does it do anything else?

[Momo would certainly be interested if she were here.]

Don't sell yourself short, I bet you're good at plenty of stuff! Who says you can't learn new skills anyway?

it can record, but it plays what you record back too, but apart from that it does nothing else.

[She smiles and nods, but it was true at what he said and Yuna started to wonder what she could do.]

That is true. Maybe I could learn something I never would have back home.

Do you know how to fish? It's one of my favorite hobbies, if there's something that lives in the sea, I can catch it with my fishing rod.

[Then he looks slightly dismayed.]

Unfortunately all they left me here with was my sword. It's a real shame, I loved that rod. It was sturdy enough for me to catch whales.

I've never really fished myself, but where I use to live there were probably people who did.

[Being on Besaid Island in the middle of nowhere fishing might have been something people did for work.]

I'm sure you could find another rod here though.

Or I can make one. It's just finding the materials that might prove a little complicated. New world might mean new materials.

[To say nothing of some small comfort a certain magical ore is no longer present.]

I'd probably be one of the best people to ask, if you wanted to learn!

I would like to learn how to fish someday, if there is a place here that we can.

[New experiences might be a nice thing after all.]

I tend to get myself out of trouble just as quick as I get into it. I appreciate the offer, but you don't need to worry about me.

But I'm sure the learning to fish will be an experience.

It can be very peaceful. Whenever things seemed bleak, fishing would help me clear my head.
