I have a curious wondering. A thing that has been on my mind as of late.

I was told a few years ago by someone that I cared about that my fate was always going to be unhappy in love. I never minded this fate because I understood the reason why I was born in the first place, or at least on that day I awakened. As the years went on, I found the one I was sworn to protect and I did my duty. I never regretted a single moment of it.

But I guess lately, being in a new place after coming from a different place from home I've been wondering if one really does have to follow what one said? I know the me that simply enjoys the idea of a boyfriend and who has a dream that they want to achieve and the other me who has to protect someone so precious and special to them and is the whole reason for their existence are very different people and I know which one is the true me, but still... Can't one do their duty and at the same time still be able to follow what their heart wants? Or is what I know to be true the path one must follow even here, even if that future one knows will happen won't happen here?

It's probably a silly question, so I do apologize.

Duty is duty. I'm sure at one point, you can find someone to love and be happy with here in the city.

But if the person you've sworn to protect is here. [Just like Gaara is also in the city.] If and when the time comes when that person is in danger, then I believe you must choose him or her above everything else. It is your duty after all.

I already know the person I am sworn to protect will always be my top priority when it comes to protection. I'm just wondering if one can do their job and have a life outside of it.

I still find time to enjoy my brother's company. [Kankuro and his puppet's were amusing after all.] I still have time to train and improve my skills in order to be the best at my craft. I also protect my whole village to the most of my capabilities. So I think it is possible to have life outside protecting the one whom you are bound to.

My baby brother. He was born into a cruel world under a very cruel and harsh circumstance. Yet people still continue to try to harm him, put him down and kill him.

So I protect him along with my other brother.

That is horrible, your poor brother. At least he has you to look out for him.

Of course. I love him very much. I don't care how many people I need to kill, but I will kill anyone who endangers his safety.

Of course this goes without saying, I do my best to ensure he doesn't get himself in trouble either.

That's very noble of you, I think I would be the same about the one I'm suppose to protect, so I'm glad I'm not the only one like that.
