I have a curious wondering. A thing that has been on my mind as of late.

I was told a few years ago by someone that I cared about that my fate was always going to be unhappy in love. I never minded this fate because I understood the reason why I was born in the first place, or at least on that day I awakened. As the years went on, I found the one I was sworn to protect and I did my duty. I never regretted a single moment of it.

But I guess lately, being in a new place after coming from a different place from home I've been wondering if one really does have to follow what one said? I know the me that simply enjoys the idea of a boyfriend and who has a dream that they want to achieve and the other me who has to protect someone so precious and special to them and is the whole reason for their existence are very different people and I know which one is the true me, but still... Can't one do their duty and at the same time still be able to follow what their heart wants? Or is what I know to be true the path one must follow even here, even if that future one knows will happen won't happen here?

It's probably a silly question, so I do apologize.

In my experience, something like fate only means about as much as you put value in it. Anything like that can be challenged, it's just a matter of finding the way to do it.

If you're unable to fulfill your duty here, there's no reason you can't try to find love, right?

I wouldn't want to challenge it though, I would be happy with what was in store for us, but here. it's a fate that won't happen, at least that I'm aware of.

But, this is a stupid question to ask, since even I doubt I could find anyone anyway. My future will always belong to her.

I once knew a man who wanted to prove to the woman he loved he was strong enough to help her run their shipping guild. He trained really hard with me, night after night, and beat his rival in a one on one duel.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't let someone else telling you something hold you back. You sound like a very loyal and kind person, and I know from all the stories Nina told me, those are the kind of things people want in someone they love.

That's because I am very loyal, I wouldn't be doing a very good job if I wasn't. But it did take me a while to even get there. But the man you knew sounds like someone who would be willing to go the distance if it was needed.

So what are the chances I meet the mystery person behind these questions? Call me curious, but I'd like to see how things unfold for you. Plus if my friend Nina ever comes here, she's a lot smarter about all this love stuff than I am.

I'm Minako and I would like to meet in person when we both have the time.

Once I find a place to live, I'll probably have nothing but time. Well, unless I'm trying to figure out a way to get home. My friends still need me, after all.

Yeah, I can understand that need to get home, but I figured you get to when whoever brought us here decides you can.

I've got a really bad habit of not listening when other people tell me to do something, so I can't promise I'll stick around for whatever reason whoever did this wants us to.

[The way he says this, it's not as though he's being cocky. It's more just the natural order of things. He's already defeated one deity, he doesn't really have a reason to believe he can't challenge another if the chips really came down. Of course, he's hoping it can all be done without fighting in the first place.]

At least if the opportunity presents itself. Everyone here seems really nice so far, but there's a matter of historical and cultural importance that needs correcting.

So far being the word. I just get the feeling there is something more that lies beneath, but that's just me and my imagination running wild.

It would be a little naïve to assume everyone is so charitable, that much I know from personal experience. I wish it weren't so, but there are all kinds in the world.

Oh, yeah that much is obvious. There are jerks about, but the most people I've spoken to so far have been pleasant.
