[Everglade to Genessia - Nighttime Action]

 [So someone convinced Eliot he needed to visit a night club. He is, after all, supposed to be a Living Library. He needs to document all aspects of human history, including the evolution of their night time entertainment. At the time, he thought he needed to check them out or he would be a failure.

Fortunately for him, he had no idea how to get in to such an establishment. Eliot used his pocket watch, unlocked his wiser personality, and marched himself the heck away from a bad decision. Now angry when he is able to recognize being tricked.

If your character lives in Everglade, or wanders the area at night, they may find Eliot walking back to Genessia. He seems to be in a very bad mood. When he reaches Genessia hours later, he will sulk around outside his apartment. Probably kicking benches and generally throwing a tantrum.]

WHO TRICKED ME?! I have the respect not to call you out by NAME over the network, but you had best contact me and own up to your... Your trickery!!! Taking advantage of stupid people's stupidity on purpose is absolutely deplorable,  I will have you know! 

[insert actual hissing.] You're all awful. The people of this world are wastes of my memory. Why do I insist on trying to help such disgusting people, I swear...!!! I wish I could hate you all and be done with this humiliation! [With that, one very grouchy and angry vampire clicks off the video for now. He knows no one actually deserved him lashing out like that, which only serves to make him angrier.]

Now all I need to do is add a hint of vanilla extract and---[His train of thought goes out of the proverbial window when he hears something crashing about outside.] Eh?

[Augustine sets down the delightful concoction he's making down upon the counter as he walks towards the window. He moved into Eliot's apartment just a day ago bearing all sorts of house warming gifts for the little vampire. However, Augustine did manage to sneak in a few sweets for himself and was in the process of making a tasty treat when this happens.]

...Eliot? [He arches his brow once he sees that familiar pink and blond hair.] What in the world?

[Augustine opens the window wide and peeks his head out.]

What are you doing down there?!

[anamnestik]

[The sight below would suggest that Eliot had gone and kicked a bench. He's fortunate that said bench was bolted in the ground... also unfortunate, because that made it all the more painful.

He holds his head briefly, before remembering how pointless it is. There's nothing he can do to mute his memories when he's like this. All Eliot can do is gradually lose his mind and temper as he remembers, vividly and miserably, how often he's been tricked or betrayed. Not even the pain of kicking a bolted bench can distract him at this point.

When finally acknowledged Augustine, it's with a silent glare. Don't bother me, is what he would say... If he wasn't instead holding in angry and wordless screams.]

Ce? [He stares at Eliot owlishly. Why does that boy look so miffed?] What's wrong with you?

Did something happen?

[Augustine is tempted to crawl out that window and head down there.]

[Oh, good. Augustine didn't see his embarrassing tantrum all over the network.

Welp. If he's been blessed that way, then Eliot will not argue. He doesn't really want for anyone to remember the hurtful things he just screamed at strangers. No one deserved what he did.]

... No. I'm fine. Just rewound the pocket watch for a stupid reason and I'm existing. [He hopes that somewhat truthful answer will cut it. It's true that anytime Eliot rewinds the tune on his pocket watch, he becomes this grouchy brat.]

A stupid reason? [Augustine let's out a sigh. His ice cream sundae is going to have to wait. It seems that Eliot is having a minor crisis.] What reason?

[Augustine opens the window a little wider so he could slip out. To hell with doors and stairs, folks. He jumps right out the second floor window with ease and lands without even making a sound or breaking his legs. Eliot's apartment is on the second floor.]

You're positively seething. Did someone...harm you?

[anamnestik]

Ugh.

[Like the charming teenager he is, Eliot groans with annoyance when someone dares come to help. He's fine! Doesn't he look fine? He just needs to some twigs to snap or something, to vent all of this pent up anger. Very healthy.]

Do I look hurt? I said that I'm fine. Just angry at the stupid me for being so... So stupid! And gullible! And just... [He moves to kick the bench again, but stops himself. Eliot knows that none of this is warranted. Lashing out at others is wrong.

So he takes in a deep breath, trying to calm down.] ... I got tricked, okay. And I'm handling it very maturely. Just leave me alone.

[Voice]

[His answer? Laughter. Just... laughter.]

[It's going to take Rip awhile to calm down enough to talk. Sorry, but, this is just too hilarious to her.]

I did nothing of the sort. I merely pointed something out and made a simple suggestion.

Then why all of the laughter?

[Eliot clenches his fists. With that answer, he knows he needs to stop giving her amusing reactions.

Which is hard, since he’s very angry.]

I don’t like people such as yourself. Vampires such as yourself. Whatever the other me said, he only said because he’s a fool.

Oh? And what kind of vampire am I, Eliot? I haven't caused any trouble and it's this... other self of yours that decided to indulge my suggestion.

He could have very easily decided not to and go about his usual night.

You’re... [He stops immediately.

Anything he might say is unfair. Unwarranted. She honestly hasn’t none anything wrong. It was a prank at worst.

He’s just bitter that he gets tricked so often.]

... Fine. It’s not your fault. If this is the last time you—- [Toy with me? He feels like he was treated like a toy. But that’s not fair to say either.]

[It's at this precise moment that Augustine suddenly realizes that just how young Eliot is. He's a teenager still, a vampire with the mindset of a mere high school student. The boy was turned when he was still just an adolescent and this childish display of youth reminds Augustine that he has centuries over the boy.

That's why he stares at Eliot with such awkward surprise. It's like he's truly seeing the boy for the first time with eyes unclouded.]

No but you certainly seem bothered. [Augustine says as he steps forward.] A wounded pride makes for trouble.

[He inches close enough to Eliot so he could pat the boy's fluffy blond and pink hair,]

Calm down. It's alright.

[anamnestik]

[Eliot flinches at the touch, then freezes as best he can. His instincts tell him to brace for punishment. He’s just a tool for the community to store information in. After all his tantruming, he expects to be scolded. Augustine doesn’t need to have any malicious intention for him to remember how this usually goes.]

I’m calm. [Eliot lowers his head.]

Someone gave me... uh. The other me, bad... advice. [On that note: He isn’t calm. Eliot is absolutely seething. Especially as he talks above shameful things and remembers how familiar this feeling is. As he talks more, his fears are outweighed by anger.]

Why am I such an idiot? I hate it!

[Oh this is too hilarious to her, it really is. Whether she meant ill intent or it was a prank originally was hard to tell and she wasn't giving hints either way.]

Oh? Why would I have to be careful? I meant nothing by my suggestion after all. Surely people won't get mad at someone for making a harmless suggestion.

[He is truly trying. It’s hard not to pass judgments. Eliot has decided he hates this person, but that won’t do him any good. Hatred isn’t fun or easy to get rid or.]

My apologies... [Swallowing his pride sucks. But she’s probably more powerful than him.]

The other me is an idiot. Please be aware of that, then.

[When the boy flinches, Augustine stops patting his head for a moment. While he understands somewhat of the trauma Eliot endured at the hands of the Durant clan, sometimes he forgets. Physical contact always equaled to violence for poor Eliot. Always.]

I won't hurt you. [Augustine whispers quietly as he cards his fingers through those bright feathery locks.] There's no punishment for being young and dumb.

[He chuckles.]

You're far from an idiot, young lad. Inexperience doesn't warrant such harsh criticism.

[Rip's no stranger to being hated. Some may argue that what she is happens to be more than enough reason to hate her in the long run. But, as pleased as she is for making him swallow his pride, she relents slightly.

After all.. he IS another vampire. She supposes she can take pity on him.]

I will take note. But, I am curious, how are there two of you?

[Whether she was stronger than him was debatable. Rip's own power set...was rather basic and she depended highly on the skills she's honed over the years.]

[anamnestik]

[Her question reminds him that he never explained 'what' he is beyond being a vampire. Probably because the happier version of Eliot doesn't think to do that when he's more excited about making friends.]

I'm something called a 'Living Library.' An immortal who memorizes everything-- books, newspapers, art, music,-- and recites it when directed to. It gets... tiring. [The other word being that it drives him "insane."]

When we spoke before, I had sealed my memories away. I lack life experiences like that and act like a fool. Right now, I'm remembering. [He groans as he adds,] I thought if I used my memories, I would know how to sneak into that place.

...A Living Library. Well, I can't say I've heard of that before.

[She honestly couldn't and actually, might even find it interesting.]

Does that include books and plays in other languages?

[At least she sounds curious instead of instigating things anymore?]

Then why don't you? And why seal away memories to begin with?

I'm not young! I'm over three hundred years old!

[Though, his mentality is forever limited by his physical state. Eliot can live forever, but he was turned at age seventeen. He's never going to develop beyond bad choices and a seventeen year old boy's physical brain.

But he isn't moving. Shouting, maybe. Wanting to cry and rip his hair out, definitely. But not moving. He's fighting the instinct to cower fearfully, because he knows in the 'now' that he isn't in danger.]

I need to change back. I-I'm going to go crazy. My head hurts. I'm-- [Clamping down on the word 'scared.' It's embarrassing to be scared.] ... I'll get taken advantage of again if I change back.

[anamnestik]

Yes, ma'am. [And Eliot is... calm-ish? He's still being cautious, but he is minding his temper more. His primary duty has always been to serve vampires, so he's obedient by habit.]

I can memorize anything after seeing it once. Doesn't matter if I understand the language fluently. I was chosen because of my gifted human memory.

[Eliot is also getting tired. Being bombarded by his memories isn't fun.] I would go insane. I am going insane. I can't live this way anymore. It's better to forget until someone needs me.

Then I may have a few requests of you sometime... it's been ages since I've read a good book in German. Maybe you can help with that.

[As for his explanation, she finds that even more curious.]

There's nothing wrong with insanity. I know some who have indulged in it and can function just fine.
