Well. That was exciting.

[Presumably he means his arrival, since his is an unfamiliar face.]

Where does one go for fun around here?

[There are probably more important things to tend to first, Lucifer.]

[Action: Genessia City]

It's a good thing that he'd woken up in some place where no one else could see him -- and that he'd figured out that his true face was showing so he could hide it again -- because until he figures out what sort of place this is, it's better not to go showing it off to anyone he comes across. Especially given what happened the first time he did that.

So the strangest thing about this man strolling through Genessia City is his clothing. Not the fact that it's an expensive suit, bespoke, not off-the-rack. It's more the state of it: crisp white shirt marred by what appears to be several bullet holes, though not stained by blood and he himself has no injuries; a tear in the left jacket sleeve, and what appears to be blood if looked at closely enough. Otherwise his clothes are clean and impeccably cared for.

Where is he going? He doesn't know, but that's never stopped him before. If he acts like he belongs for long enough, then he's sure to figure something out soon enough.

Well, I have to admit, this has been a very curious morning.

[Albus Dumbledore is sitting in a chair in front of a small table in a place that is not his normal living quarters shhhh and looking at his own hand with a small, mischievous look on his face.

There's nothing in his hand, until his smears his thumb over his palm and a small hard candy appears. He raises his hand up and drops into the palm of his other hand. And then drops another hard candy, and another. And then he releases a candy cane, and a lollipop, and a roll of taffy, letting them accumulate in a small pile on a table in front of him, each item appearing out of thin air.

It's almost like watching a magician pull a trick, except his sleeves are rolled up, and he doesn't have his wand.

He seems utterly delighted by this, his eyes shining with even more mischief than normal.]

Tell me, would anyone be interested in some candy?

((OOC: Dumbledore is now a deity! Specifically the deity of sweets.))

[Near the end of the carnival, Eliot briefly lost his pocket watch. Perfectly timed to a moment when he was using his 'grouchy personality' too. It's been nearly a week since he found it again, but he hasn't changed back to the ditzy personality. The music box is broken and he can't change back.]

Who here can fix pocket watches?

[He holds his silver pocket watch up to the camera and opens it, showing its unmoving clock. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, he slaps it closed again and growls with frustration.]

And I'm not talking about that damn clock. It has a music box in it. The music hasn't been able to play since I got it back from the Lost and Found. I need someone who won't break it, or damage the melody in any way. Please. I can pay money, or do favors, or whatever the hell you want. Just please, someone... Fix this thing.

If not the watch... Can anyone put me to sleep, or something? Magic, or hypnosis... I'll take anything. I haven't slept all week, and even this cursed body can't handle that kind of stress. I can't do this anymore.

[The face on the video screen may be familiar to some. He might have shorter hair and one fewer eye than people are used to seeing, but it's still the same person. At least the missing eye is covered with a patch.

He looks a little bit annoyed though.]

I was under the impression that when I was sent home from New Dodge, that I would be sent home. Not to another place that isn't Asgard.

[You have to stop thinking there's an Asgard to go back to, Thor. At least the one that used to be.]

Or Midgard.

Searching for bestiaries. Medieval or otherwise. Preferably with unicorn lore.

Bestiary. Not bestiality. They're different, okay?

[ Dominic is still a bit uncertain about this new place he finds himself in. There’s the memory of leaving his past behind but the intention hadn’t exactly been made to be so reality shifting — and this place is certainly a different reality for Dominic. One that has him questioning... a lot of things but none that he will be putting out into the open anytime soon. ]

I don’t suppose anyone has ran into anyone named Addison Cameron have they?

I’m not particularly hopeful but what could it hurt to ask, right?

I’m Dominic and... there’s not much to say about me. I’m just trying to get settled into this place. It’s kind of ... different isn’t it?

[ Alien, maybe? Though, it’s not what he would have imagined the end game of Thetans and the like would be. ]

GENESSIA COMMONSPACE
[ The groggy haze hasn't yet exactly worn off this demon hunter here and Nero finds himself crashed on the bed he has in this (temporary) room of his. Arm draped across his eyes, he's about five seconds away from conking out where he hopes when he wakes this will all be a bad dream, when the sound of WHATEVER THAT IS keeps him from doing so. With a scowl, he throws himself off the bed, yanks open the door (and nearly off its hinges oops) and- ]

Hey! You wanna keep it down?!

[ He'll just yell that down the hall to whoever or whatever that is. ]

GENESSIA CITY
[ Moving down the streets with a scowl on his face (not like he ever wears another expression) is a white-haired, sword strapped to his back with a glowing blue arm guy. He's heard the spiel about this place, is annoyed with this whole kidnapped by spirits shtick going on here, and can't remember the last time he actually ate something so that's where he's headed. Or hopes he is.

The first food place he finds, he drops some of those red bills down and asks what he can get with some of this and, as he waits for his food to be brought to him, if you're staring, he's gonna feel that... even address you without looking over. ]

Take a picture, it'll last longer.

[ That, or, he's going to be sitting there at whatever table is available, head in his hands and clearly just DONE with this place already. ]

[The face that fills the network isn't a pleasant one. It's an older man's face, not unpleasant to look at--Irish complexion and coloring with pale skin, the faintest hint of broadly scattered freckles, slate grey eyes, and a neatly trimmed, vivid red goatee that matches the red hair streaming well past his shoulders. His brow is furrowed, his mouth turned down in a peevish scowl...

...then he holds his smart phone at arm's length, and more of the picture comes together.

For one thing, his look is very 'biker chic' courtesy of the chain around his neck, and the black leather vest he wears over a matching wifebeater. His arms are sleeved in intricate tattoos in a myriad of surprisingly vivid colors--mostly black and white, with the occasional splash of red, violet, green, or blue. There's plenty of canvas, given the newcomer's muscular build: broad shoulders, thick arms with subtle definition--not showy, but it's a body built for a heavy work load it's clearly accustomed to.

That's the other thing, and probably the main reason the man in question is so damn unhappy looking, and that's his size. The arm holding out the smart phone is long enough to get a nicely framed shot of him, and the backdrop of a room from the Genessia Commonspace. Based on some of the markers of his surroundings compared to the level of his head as he stands there, one might be able to peg his height somewhere in the uncomfortable range of well over six and a half feet...okay, closer to seven.

Even in his human guise--an approximation of the body he once inhabited as a living man--the Shade, Lord of the Vale and Reaper of the Wayward, sometimes known as Gentle Death, is too damn large to exist in the world around him.]

I been here five damn minutes, busted myself at least three times on somethin', and suffice to say I ain't remotely happy.

[The voice is deep, pleasant save for the aggravation in his tone, the accent Southern to those familiar with it--definitely something Texan, for anyone that might come from Earth or be familiar with that region.]

I get I'm stuck here. Can't do nothin' 'bout that. [Lord knows he's tried, and he can't transport himself anywhere but where he's at. Can't even move between the damn cities without that stupid amulet, a visible lump tucked under his wifebeater.] But at the very least, they could make the space a little more habitable for them of us that ain't goddamn ants.

[He glances over his shoulder towards the bed--thank God he has no need for sleep. Turning back to his phone, his scowl, impossibly, deepens.]

If I can't get out? I'm gettin' me somewhere I can stretch my damn legs for a spell. Anyone who knows where a body can get a decent room? Gets a round on me. Wherever there is in this godsforsaken world to drink, at any rate.

[When Kaoru first arrived he had paid attention to the hologram and was still somewhat baffled by it. But it made it obvious that they weren't at home anymore regardless, but he really had no way to get home, but yet... he had no clue as to what to do.

He's never really had to fend for himself before, he was used to certain things, he never worked a day in his life not counting that one summer where he helped out in part for a competition. But as he thought about it, the hologram did say about a place to head to. So probably the first place he was going to head to, even if it was to get his bearings a little more and set about getting work at least.

As he walked, he started to look around and it wasn't long before he was walking up to people.]

Excuse me, can I please have a moment of your time?

Text

[It was a few hours before Kaoru found the places he needed to go to and managed to stay in the commons for the time being. But there was one thing he figured he should ask the whole network since he figured out the basics of how this device works.]

How does one use the microwave? Sounds like a stupid question, but I have seriously never used one. I have heard of them, but this would be the first time I have had to use one. I've pressed buttons, but not sure what I am actually doing.

Wise advice from people who actually know will be of huge benefit.

Another question. Jobs... How did anyone decide what they were going to do here?

[Eliot has now been in Genessia for quite some time. In the months since he initially arrived, he's used his pocketwatch to switch personalities quite a few times. For his job at the archive, Eliot finds himself spinning between personas very rapidly.
What he doesn't realize is that every time he's switched personalities, Eliot has forgotten a sliver more about his life before Genessia. His 'human' personality has been changing a lot, to the point that he's almost an entirely new person from the secret vampire boy back in LA.

So pardon him as he says some stupid things:]

I've been thinking lately about something and wondered... How does one determine their horoscope for the newspaper, if they do not know when they were born? Can I use the day that I died? I apologize for asking. I'm quite the pitiful library if I don't have the answer, aren't I..?

[He's sitting at the archive, going through books and records curiously. Anyone who sees the books or their pages may notice he's written a name, over and over, in a desperate attempt to keep from forgetting someone. It clearly hasn't worked:]

And dear me, but this is going to sound so silly. Who exactly is this 'Ophelia' I've been reading about in my notes? Does she live in Genessia? The name sure looks nice. I must really like it. [Anyone who has spoken to Eliot has probably heard him gush about Ophelia before: She's the girl he is in love with... Or was, before he apparently forgot her.]

... Goodness, it just occurred to me! But where were we all before Genessia? Why am I here, again? Am I doing a good job..?

[Thancred's face appears on the screen, with the bay in the background. He's been awake for a while and poking around while making his way towards the city.]

Well, according to this device, we're not in Eorzea anymore, are we boy?

[The feed shows a red-headed woman with a gentle expression, her new pendant with a striking red stone visible alongside another necklace with a caged bluebird on the end. When she speaks, her voice is as gentle as she appears - almost nervous, but she's trying not to let it show.]

Hello. My name is Luna. I've never really been in a situation like this before but I thought I should introduce myself. That's part of getting used to a new place, isn't it?

I'm hoping that I will be able to get work as a nurse here so I'd like to get to know others in the medical field. Or if anyone knows about robotics, I have a particular interest in that, too.

[She glances down, then, hand drifting to the bluebird necklace as she considers adding anything further.]

I think that's everything. I hope I didn't take too much of your time and I hope we can all get along while we're all away from home.

12 May 2018 @ 06:49 pm
[A scruffy faced older man looks flatly at the device, clearly annoyed.]

I swear to God if I just got kidnapped to some cryptid hell, I will burn the whole damn place down. It was a few drinks. A few. I best be laying face down in a ditch somewhere drowning on my own vomit.

That seems better than this.

This, whatever this is.

I’ve never seen technology like this. It’s like something out of a bad movie.

A bad B movie, as a matter of fact. [He frowns at the video, head tilting, then snorts.]

Someone point me to the nearest bar, otherwise to the nearest bus home, because Christ, this is not how I intended to spend my weekend.

A. Axiom Games
[ She wasn't here to play games most of the time. Which sounds very dramatic, but since she works here it's not surprising. Lately, however, she's been using downtime to slip away from the concessions stand and waste time playing a classic arcade game. To the point that she's actually got the top score. What can she say? She's got fast fingers.

She's probably going to get Johnny annoyed at her for actually finishing her games before running over to help people who want their food, but he puts up with a lot from her. What's one more thing? ]

Coming!

[ This is her second game she's attempting to top the list on, so she really wants to get it. Except there's some kid crying about how he's hungry and she loses concentration, groaning loudly and stomping back over while the parent looks less than amused. ]

B. Brand New Digs
[ Okay. Okay, she couldn't live with Johnny forever. She'd learned her lesson about roommates and letting herself get really close to anyone. And Johnny wasn't really someone to get close to anyway, even if he was nicer to her than he had any right to be despite that he wasn't getting anything beyond her letting him stare for up to 15 seconds without her commenting on it.

So she finally signed for keys at Clermont Apartments. Did she need that much space? No. But she liked it, and as long as she kept up with her trading thing, it was better to have the extra room anyway. She didn't really have much stuff, but she did need to go get her things from Johnny's and probably leave him a note or something. He did let her stay there for free after all. The least he deserves is a post-it.

She can't drive though, so she can be seen around town carrying a suitcase or a box or two of stuff back and forth. ]

C. Colosseum
[ She's done moping. Well, she isn't, but she's sick of moping at least, so she's decided to embark on one of the things that she does enjoy doing- beating the crap out of things. Catch her at the Colosseum fighting NPCs for the most part, using her three-part weapon. For those who aren't familiar, it's a pair of revolvers that transform into sickles which then transform into kusarigama with ridiculously (impossibly) long-range chains. How does she carry all that and still be that fast in a fight? Who knows. Why don't you ask?

Note: If your character wants to fight her and she's obviously outclassed, she's not going to. She'll forfeit the fight before she loses. If she's close and not quite strong enough, she'll probably cheat. She won't be holding back if your character is weaker though, so let me know if you want her to stop or not. She has no problem killing here, especially since it's the Attleton Colosseum and there's no penalty. ]

Is being voted "cutest male" a good thing..? I'm over 300 years old now. I don't think I qualify as "cute..?"

Um... Thank you anyway! I appreciate being thought of.

[Though, it also troubles him. Eliot has been realizing more and more lately that he stands out in Genessia. He has so many friends here that he can forget. Just as he has begun forgetting his friends from home... Eliot can hardly even remember what his closet friends looked like anymore.]

I had a request, if it's no trouble? I need to get in touch with a photographer. And a painter? Someone who can draw from description. I need some paintings of my friends back home. My memories of home have been fading lately... It makes me wonder if I'll still be the same 'Eliot' when I forget the people and events that shaped my thought process. But I figure I can at least help myself remember names and faces... [His voice trails off. If only briefly, Eliot looks truly troubled and miserable.

Then he perks up again.]

So! Yes.  A photographer. And painter. Or just one, I know I'm asking a lot. Thank you.

[Though all of the trails and hardships that he went through in his life, he never imagined paperwork and government work would end up being such a big part of his life. He could imagine that even if he had followed a similar path as his Father, he probably wouldn’t have gad nearly as much paper work to do as he does some days.

So this is one of those days where he takes time for himself. The majority of it which he spent reflecting. At the moment, though, he’s at the park. He’s sipping a drink while bread floating in the air just beside him. Occasionally a piece will suddenly become shredded before the pieces are launched into the big pond in the park for the ducks.]

Guess I'll just relax here until I'm out of bread. [He did have some things in mind for what he wanted to do later. Going over personal projects and such.] Maybe I'll spend some time in Holodeck'd testing that equipment that I had made.

[It didn't take Jason very long to figure out what was going on, once the initial panic had passed. Waking up in an enclosed space with no memory of how he had gotten there had not been a fun experience, but he considered himself very much past it by the time he exited the cavern, having skimmed some of the information and watched enough of the hologram to get the gist of it while he calmed down.

Another universe, dimension, whatever. He couldn't say he'd never dealt with this kind of thing before, but he didn't like it, and he didn't like the implications of it. He didn't like being trapped, either. But as usual, the universe didn't give two craps about what he liked.

He's down the street when he finally fishes the smartphone-looking device from the pocket he'd stowed it in. He goes back and forth a little on how to handle this, but in the end he clears his throat - which was not still tight at all from his wake up experience - and clicks for video.

Viewers will see in the screen a young man, maybe twenty or a little younger, Hispanic, with short black hair and green eyes. He's wearing a brown leather jacket over a gray top with a red bat-shaped symbol on it. His expression is completely sour, and when he speaks, his tone is sarcastic.]

Well, this isn't how I planned on spending my Monday. Anybody got information on this shithole they'd like to share with the class? Or know where to get a strong drink? I have a feeling I might need one.
