Second Flame | Video | Baby sitting is hard
Joe... Joe would you stop sucking on smoke's back? Chim? Chim where the heck did you go you little monkey? Give me back my hat already!
[The scene in Ace's room is... hectic to say the least. Several pieces of scorched furniture are on fire, there's several busted open food boxes... which are also on fire, a numel has climbed on the back of a torkoal and seems to be trying to suck the smoke out of its body, and a chimchar is hiding behind Ace's head on a ceiling lamp, wearing Ace's hat.]
Do any of you people want to baby sit one of these guys for a day or two? I mean... I don't want to be mean, they're just curious and all, but I'd prefer not to have them stealing my hat, or getting into the food before meal times.
[He turns towards his chimchar without missing a beat, apparently only pretending to wonder where the pokemon was until now.]
Don't think I don't see you up there Chim. It was funny the first time, but you should get down there before I roast your fiery butt.
[The Chimchar looks startled that Ace addressed him and that his hand burst into flame... so it hops down from the ceiling lamp onto Ace's head, so that the hat is on his head while also on the pokemon's.]
Ehhh... close enough. At least one of you listens to me... now if we can just get Joe here to stop trying to inhale poor Smokes.

[He just points behind him at what used to be a couch. He never really liked that couch anyways, and it's way comfier now that it's practically falling apart.]
The little guys here just happen to like fire almost as much as I do.
[ Video]
It's hard to get mad at them. They're such cute little mischief-makers!
[A pretty little grey cat pushes its head insistently into Minako's hand, and she obliges, petting the cat that looks more than pleased with itself as it yawns and settles primly beside her.]
I could let one of them come over, I suppose. Audino seems to be mothering all of the others anyway, so another can't hurt.
Well if you'd be willing to take Smokes or little Joe here off my hands that would be a huge help. Apart they're not so difficult to deal with, but together... well they're almost always glued to each other. They kind of need an intervention of some sort.
[He pulls the camel pokemon off of the tortoise, and holds them apart but in view so that Minako can get a good look at the two of them.]
Joe's kind of rambunctious, while Smokes is pretty laid back and probably wouldn't even bother to move much unless he needs something. So he's probably the easiest one to look after. I guess it depends on what you plan to do, if you're planning to take one to go out and about for the day Smokes probably isn't the one you'd want, where Joe is a bit more energetic.
[Minako presses a knuckle to her mouth as she furrows her brow in thought, looking between the two. Smokes does seem pretty easy, but Minako is pretty much exploding with energy and passion non-stop, so she could handle the sleepy-eyed camel without a problem. This guy probably just needs a break from the sound of it, so...]
It's hard to choose! But I think I'll take Joe. The customers at the arcade are sure to love him. I'm Minako!
[She extends her hand as if she wanted to shake his, but it's more a gesture than anything.]
That was pretty cool, making fire appear in your hand just like that!
[Because Ace always repays a favor in more ways than simply money. Even if she did want him to pay her for the poke-sitting he'd still want to at least do something nice for her in return. The fact that she was a cute girl certainly was another factor into his wanting to return the favor. He gave the camel an affectionate noogie, which seemed to get him to calm down just a little bit from his desire to go tackle Smokes.]
Heh, I can do way more than just make fire appear.
[It seems almost as if when he pushes the brim of his hat up, revealing the chimchar hiding underneath it, that his entire finger was made of fire.]
I am fire. I can produce fire from any part of my body, or turn any part of myself into fire... and I can let my flames be as hot or cool as I want them to be.
[As if to prove his point, that finger that pushed his hat had in fact touched the hat without leaving any scorch marks or lighting it on fire. Was his had simply not as flammable? Perhaps... or he had rather remarkable control of his fire abilities.]
Now that you've seen how hot I am, and how cool my flames are, would you mind if I asked you something? Would you like to go out some time? Dinner, dancing, that sort of thing?
schemeevent she concocts to pair people up. Naturally she would have helped out without asking for something in return, but since he's offering, and--][--Wait, back up. He just asked her out before she said anything. Minako sits back with a surprised jerk, blue eyes blinking in surprise as pink blooms warmly in her cheeks. Wow...she didn't have to do anything! No flirting, no boldly taking his hand and making the first move... He just did it.]
[Has she finally entered the springtime of youthful romance at long last?!]
I'd love to!
[She beams from ear to ear. A date with a literally hot guy? Yes please!]
Are you a pretty good dancer?
Well that depends! What kind of dancing are you into? I'm more of a wild parties, free style dancing kind of guy than a formal ball room dancing kind of guy... I can do both, but I think I'm a bit better when I'm allowed to improvise.
I'm not too picky, but if you've got a preference, let's go with that! We're just getting to know each other after all, so being comfortable is important.
[Besides, she kinda sorta freestyled it up the last time she was at a ballroom dance. And then fought monsters from the Negaverse. Improvisational dance it is!]
We might have to get a team of babysitters, though. Unless we want to bring our Pokemon along in the Pokeballs.
[Video] 1/2
Whatever it was, he couldn't resist adding in just a teasing little thing.]
Oh I completely agree. Comfort is very important when exploring the ins and outs of an attractive romantic partner. If there's any way I can make the evening more comfortable or enjoyable for you, you can simply ask. I willing to bend-
[Video] 2/2
Oh shoot... I forgot about that.
[Unless he started keeping these guys in their pokeballs more, it could really make an impact on his dating life.]
Hmm... looks like I might have to look into something like that. Maybe someone should open a pokemon daycare or something.
Re: [Video] 2/2
Yeah, that'd be nice. Having one cat back home was handful enough. Five pets is a little too much for me to handle, especially with a full-time job.
[She's lucky that most of hers don't mind being in Pokeballs, or can at least be trusted to wander around the office and not cause trouble. Ace doesn't seem to have that luxury.]
Rain check?
[... Believe it or not this is his way of volunteering. Because yanno. He replied at all.]
[You know... the one being sucked on by Joe.]

What can I say? We like fire.
no subject
Apparently. How are you doing that and not getting burned?

Back in my world there were these fruit that are supposedly cursed by different devils called devil fruit. Supposedly if you eat one, the devil inside the fruit inhabits your body and shares its power with you, but you become cursed with an inability to swim. A dangerous thing in a world that is 90% water, but potentially worth the trade off... in my case I've eaten the fire devil fruit.

Something about that sounded familiar..Rip shook it off and nodded.]
Sounds like your world is an interesting one then. I can understand accepting a trade off like that for interesting abilities. But, is setting things on fire useful in a world so full of water?
[...She's genuinely curious.]
no subject
Oh it's most definitely useful. Most of the people use ships to get around and those tend to be made of wood. It's pretty hard to sail anywhere when your ship is on fire, and that's a rather useful way to keep people from misbehaving.
no subject
Now that you explain it, that does sound useful.

They do look like dear affectionate pokemon. I'd be happy to watch them for a time if you need a break. I'm used to raising animals on my fathers farm. [Though they weren't as unruly as pokemon seem to be, Belle is very skilled with watching animals.]
Are you doing alright?
