[Sixth Shot] Action and Video
When gambling is involved, Faye has all the luck - she makes her own, after all. In life, maybe not so much. Today was one of those days where luck was definitely not on her side.
In the morning, Faye can be found actually kicking her motorcycle in a corner of a street in Nova City. That's what happens when you've lived long enough with a guy whose mantra is 'If your ship doesn't work, just kick it.' Looks like her bike is not interested in starting up again...
*A very grumpy Faye appears on the screen, fuming at her bike after having given it another swift kick. She glares at it lying on its side before throwing a dark look to the camera*
Anyone know what to do with a heap of junk that doesn't start?
In the afternoon, Faye is walking, because she has to, and somehow manages to get the heel of her boot stuck in the road. Screaming in frustration, Faye has to wrench that foot back out, but her shoe is probably broken...
In the early evening, Faye has found her way to a food stall. Hungry and tired after an unsuccessful day, she just wants to treat herself to some street food. Only, it appears she has forgotten her purse. The owner of the stall, burly big woman, is now shouting at Faye for wasting her time and demanding pay that Faye just doesn't have. No matter how hard she tries to explain and plead her case for those noodles, this lady will not hear it, and seems quite happy to cause a scene too.
[Private Action - Dohko - Drinking Buddies]
In the weeks since they met, Dohko and Faye have become firm drinking buddies - trying different drinks, different places, getting to know each other more. For this particular night, Faye has put a little more effort into her appearance. She is still casual, but her skirt is the short and tight kind, and her vest top sits low on her cleavage, complete with a thin gold chain that may just be there to draw attention to her chest. A bit more attention has gone into her make up too - darker eyes, a red lipstick. She waits for Dohko at the bar as usual, waiting on the drinks she has already ordered for them. There are a few men in the room with their eyes on her back already, each of them waiting to pounce, and hoping to do so before the other men get there first.

Do you know what the problem is? Usually people bring their bikes in before it reaches that point, but I'll be right out there. If it's just the battery it'll be easy to have you up and running again.
I could help you get it to a shop, if that's it. Or turn it into something else.
action; Evening
Ay ay, quiet it down, will ya? Keep the yellin' up and the androids are gonna go deaf. Or y'go and catch the ear of a deputy or somethin'.
[Technically they already did, but they can't know that. He's making mental notes here.]
Th' 'ell's goin' on 'ere, anyhoo? Without the yellin', if ya please.
action; evening
What could be the trouble?
[Cheeky grin and a wink towards the big burly woman.]
How much does my friend owe you? Just let me know and we will be out of your hair.
[He doesn't remove his arm from Faye's shoulders. Using it to offer her a small amount of protection and comfort.]
action; evening
The woman was frantic, waving her arms around*
This girl, she demands food and cannot wait. It's a waste! A complete waste! She will eat the food and pay me - or I will call the authorities.
*At this Faye grimaces and shakes her head. But at mention of being paid, the other woman calms down. The amount of money she mentions is really quite small - Faye hadn't even been trying to treat herself to anything properly good. Faye stares at Dohko for a moment but sighs heavily - she just wants this scene to be over*
Re: action; evening
That is for the noodles, you can give it to the next customer as well as for your time.
[He then smiles down at Faye and gives her shoulder a comforting squeeze.]
Lets go. I can cook you a meal.
[And now he is just gonna try to lead Faye away before the other lady tries to stop him.]
action; evening
You didn't need to do that, you know...
*She glances over her shoulder to see that the big woman appeared quite satisfied with Dohko's actions*
And you don't need to cook me anything. I'm not starving, and I'm not a charity case either.
*Though, as she said all this, it wasn't as though she was actually angry*
Re: action; evening
She was going over the line. No one deserves to have gone through that.
[He offers her a more gentle smile and lets out a light chuckle.]
No, you are definitely not a charity case. You are a friend. What's wrong with wanting to cook for a friend?
[And it looks like she needs a listening ear.]
I got beer to have along with the food but it might not be as good as they place you like to visit.
action; evening
When he calls her a friend, she blinks at him, quite taken aback by that, to the point where she can't even argue with him*
Nothing wrong with that... And beer would be real good round about now.
*No word of a lie. Then it occurs to her that no one has ever really cooked a meal for her as a friend, so the smile she gives him is actually a little shy for a second*
Did you check it out? Did you like it?
*She continues to pout at the bike for a moment before turning back to her*
Turn it into something else?
*Yep, she's pretty irate about this whole situation*
Well, if I knew it was just gonna konk out on me like this I woulda got it seen to. This is not my idea of a good time, you know.
*Then he gets a look as if to say 'yeah okay so I haven't thought about the battery thing'*
action; Evening
Me? You better not be talking about me. It's this - this... woman here that's the problem - yelling and screaming like I'm some kind of street scum.
*Which obviously just sent the woman into even more screaming abuse to Faye*
See?
*Faye controls her voice, wanting to appear the better woman*
I just wanted to buy some noodles, but turns out I lost my wallet somewhere. And now she's accusing me of stealing and wasting her time and money.
no subject
I said without the yellin'! Or are ya deaf an' that's why yer screamin' yer lungs out? Jayzus.
[He casually glanced back to Faye (or as casually as a man with a mask that obscures his eyes can) and pointed a thumb at the woman.]
Ah, trust me, yer not the one I was hearin' down the road.
[He reaches into a small pouch hidden at his side and plucks out some bills, handing them to the woman, hoping to silence the banshee himself.]
'ere, keep whatever change is there an' let the lady 'ave 'er food. You get yer cash, she gets 'er food, everyone's 'appy, yeah? [A pause.] An' learn some better customer service, lil' misunderstandings can be cleared up without makin' yerself look unprofessional to the whole city block.
[Man, it felt good to be able to talk like an asshole without the "deputy" chains.]
no subject
The woman steps forward, grumbling angrily unser her breath. She doesn't seem to appreciate his comments one bit, but she shuffles forward anyway and snatches the bills away from the man*
Hmmph. Rude, much?
*But her voice was quiet enough that only the man would be able hear. Already, Faye was rolling her eyes and trying to leave*
I don't really want it... She can have the noodles. Or you have them. I'm not so hungry anymore...
no subject
But it might not hurt to take it to a repair shop first.
no subject
"Rude" isn't quite the word I'd use. Bertha there's lucky it was me that showed an' not my buddy. Bet she would'a changed 'er tone real quick.
[Said buddy of course actually being himself. Man, playing this role makes him seem like he's got a split personality sometimes. He reaches up and takes the mask off before reaching back into his side pouch, offering her a small wad of red bills between his fingers.]
Well, if ya change yer mind, get yerself somethin' nicer. Ya deserve it after all that, an' it won't do to be out n' about in this city without cash, yanno?
Re: action; evening
But then her whole demeanor changed and he goes to smile again.]
Beer and some proper noodles then. Or would you prefer.... [What's the English name for it again?] Fried rice or anything else?
[He gives her shoulder a gentle squeeze to give her more comfort.]
A beer is always good after a hard day... Or any day.
[A wink towards her. But then it is his turn to blink at the sight of the shy smile and he just gains a gentle expression.]
I did and they cook their food decently. I think I can do better with my own cooking. [A small sigh as he remembers Marco's words.]
Perhaps you should join me next time? He didn't give me a discount after all.
no subject
*Faye just shrugs and shakes her head*
Hope her noodles are worth it...
*She follows alongside him, watching curiously as he removes that strange mask. When he holds out the bills, she stops still, looking affronted*
Hey - I don't need your cash, mister. I got some. I just don't know where it is right now. So don't think you gotta give me a handout like I'm some kind of loser...
action; evening
*Because maybe she wasn't such a horrible person after all. Maybe. She smiles at that wink but shakes her head - she's sure found a charmer with this guy*
Decently, huh? Suppose that isn't the worst thing you could say.
*Faye just laughs out loud at the suggestion of her going with him and the discount - of course he would offer such a thing if it might being with her meant money off*
Oh no? That's too bad... Did you say that I sent you? Did he say anything about that?
no subject
[He blinks then shakes his head, laughing slightly.]
Loser? 'andout? Naw, just me wantin' to help out 'till ya get yer money situation sorted. Just tell Orlok he owes me money for helpin' out his lady friend.
[He pauses.]
Orlok. Gale. Whatever he goes by. That guy who goes vigilante-ing 'round the city in hot pink.
no subject
*Because who knows what he'd say to her, especially if Faye was involved somehow. But then she narrows her eyes at him*
Hey, how'd you know I was a friend of his? Who are you anyway?
*If he wants her to take the money, then fine, she'll take it. Somehow she doesn't mind if she borrows Gale's money, but a stranger giving it out because he feels bad for her was another*
Re: action; evening
I guess I will have to let you be the judge. Since you eat there so often.
[And there we go! The sound of her laugh was a good sound.]
He just mainly ignored me when I mentioned you.
[He didn't mind paying full price. It was odd but he didn't mind it. He used to brew his own alcohol due to living so high and deep in the mountains. Plus having a drinking buddy wouldn't be so bad.]
no subject
Ah, my bad, I can't remember if I ever introduced m'self. Name's Kharon, we actually talked once a ways back, but I can't blame ya if ya don't remember. I don't exactly poke my 'ead out too of'en. Me an' Orlok go way back, worked in the same organizations. We just can't be in the same room together, otherwise we wanna choke each other.
[That's a good way to bullshit why Gale and Kharon can't be seen together, right? Right.]
He'll prolly talk shit 'bout me if ya do mention me. I promise I ain't as bad as 'e claims.
action; evening
*Which then made it her turn to give him a cheeky smile - because he was about to do the same for her after all*
Ignored you? Too bad. I hope he hasn't gone off me... Maybe I should find a new place for cheap food and beer.
Re: action; evening
Exactly. I just hope I live up to your high end tastes.
[Okay he had to tease a little. Just to keep the mood jovial.]
I will be looking for a good drinking hole as well. It will be something to drink while I brew my own.
action; evening
*And by now she was feeling playful enough to nudge him slightly with her hip*
My roommate runs a couple of bars and clubs. They're really nice places. And, again, I get discounts for being a friend. Or - maybe I'm not technically supposed to, but I help myself anyway.
no subject
*That wasn't really any reason for her not to have remembered if she knew his name or not. She didn't mean to be rude exactly*
Huh. Yeah, I can get that - no sense killing each other when you're just trying to get your work done.
*She actually seems to buy it as a story, anyway*
You seem decent enough to me. Maybe I'll tell him you helped me out. Then he'll know you're not so bad.
How much do you know about your bike?
*Apparently, this garage is news to her*
Well, I know that it normally goes a lot faster than this. Ya know, when it actually works. What do you need to know?
no subject
[Video]
See??
[And makes some notes.]
She's got plenty - the bitch drinks more than I do.
no subject
But if that's the case... Do you need help getting it to a shop? My magic can help with that part too.
*She can't even think of words, instead just giving her bike a one-figured salute*
[Video]
Smoker, by the way. Sorry we're meeting under shitty circumstances.
*Faye settles down to set on pavement next to her bike. With introductions she attempts more of a smile*
Faye. And hey, worse things happen at sea. And in space.
no subject
Huh? Nah. Don't worry about it. There's a guy on the way from his garage so I'm hopeful he can sort this shit out.
Re: action; evening
[He chuckles and tips his hat as she starts being playful with him. Good. That was what he wanted to see. He moves with the nudge and grins down at her.]
Your roommate huh? I guess perhaps later this week we can go there and try and drain the place?
action; evening
*Faye laughs as she looks up at him again, liking that little tip of his hat*
Sounds like a good plan to me. Quite the challenge, too - Gale keeps his bars well stocked, and with good stuff too. I'm sure he wouldn't mind us taking a sample or two...
Re: action; evening
[He is already preparing the list and recipe in his brain. Faye has a really nice laugh so he does wonder why she doesn't have guys oogling at her.]
I am always up for a good challenge. Though the next question will be is he up for us taking his bar on?
Action; evening
*Faye was definitely impressed by this - given how poor her own cooking skills were, she was always impressed if someone could make a good meal.
And she does have men oogling at her, just usually in bars, where the men stare, and often try to touch too*
Sure, why not? I'm inviting new customers to try his place out - if you have a good time, you'll go back. If you like it, you'll tell others. It's all just good for business. Least, that's what I'll tell him if he moans.
