[First things first, Marco perches on top of the building, and checks out all of the location, texting while he goes, and making sure he can secure the best get away. Ares supposedly wasn't good at tactics, but Marco? Marco prides himself, especially when it comes to mapping layouts. So the location is secured, go in through the front, and the back he set up to create a quick exit that couldn't be followed.]

[Dancing shoes = guns of course. Marco wore his sandals even in the tux, because the guns weren't for him, his weapons were his feet.]

[He shortly turns into a phoenix and just okay it's easier to breath. And then chirps at him in phoenix, forgetting for a minute that this was definitely not Toby, or Roxas, and he hadn't been teaching the kid snips and phrases with Thatch's help, though Thatch will be able to pick up that he was talking about Grell.]

I'll make you a deal. My son's -- [HE'S OKAY. SHUT UP.] Favorite foods were hot dogs and hamburgers. I'll take you out to a buffet as soon as things quiet down here, all right? [Thick gulp.] If I don't see you by 10 tonight, you can do whatever you want, because I'm just another adult breaking promises, aye?

But I'll do my best to be there, no matter what.

[His eyes widen when the man turns into a strange bird creature, and for a moment he isn't sure what to think. Then he's a man again and Ash sighs.]

I'm really, really hungry but I can't do that. If something's gonna happen and you can help then you should. I've only been here a coupla days but there's a lot of people here.

[That's about what he expected. It was the only way he could even get through to Toby at first, to be fair.]

[A quick switch phoenix, ringed eyes peering at him, and a deep breath again, before he feels collected enough to go back to human.]

But you look so much like my son, I'll pretty much have a panic attack if you're even just outside. I wish I could tell you more, but [Taps the phone.] The wrong people might be watching. That's why I'll tell you when it settles down. Trust me, I didn't make this offer to anyone else.

There's a City Guardian here, named David. Ask him what you should do to help, but if he asks you to stay out of the way, Ash, please consider it. And I'll promise your favorite food, my treat.

[Snaps.] I'll even show you how I can talk to my swablu, eh? But I'm not letting my pokemon near this either. [Headshake!] More people isn't always a good thing, eh?

[Tackle glomps in hugs and gives birdie kisses and incoherent phoenix chirps and sparkles about sons, babies, eggs, pokemon, and the rest.]

I messed up so much. I pulled so hard, I knew Toby was safe... I didn't even THINK about other versions, other timelines of him, like Ace.

Ah well... It's alright. [he croons at him] You know, I never told you this but there was one time, early on, that I almost left the crew entirely. I realized that Pops was such a great man and I hadn't even been half of that. That I was just a terrible kid, not worth the effort.

[he scratches under Marco's chin and then runs a hand through his fiery frond]

But Pops put a hand on my shoulder [though really on his back, and it had covered most of his back and for the first time he had felt protected, safe. Thatch takes a deep breath]

And he told me... [he swallows and clears his throat] that he knew my heart and that whatever bad I had done that I knew of, there might be more good that I didn't know of. That I had greatness in me and I could do great things on purpose.

[he sniffs and smiles]

Point is, Marcchan, make this a great experience for the both of you, aye? It'll be okay.

[How do you keep turning into a bird thing?!]

[Frowning. He's been mistaken for people's kids before but that's not what fazes him.]

David? Ugh, alright! But if he says I can then I'm gonna do it and you'll still owe me a hamburger, alright?! And let me play with Swablu.

[A soft laugh and he nods.]

Marco. Alright, and hey! That means that you gotta come back. Not get hurt or anything, alright? Cause you can't break a deal!

[He knows what that means, but Ash is just going to nod. Look at the shine of determination in his eye, Marco!]

Alright, but I'm still gonna say it! Be careful!

[Nods too.] I won't break my promise.

[One more glare and nod before he turns off the feed.]
