1st Rise of the Phoenix ஜ Video

[When he wakes up, he still believes he's in Nautilus. The last he remembers is going to sleep with Leanne like usual, did something happen? Another storm? Something worse? He can't remember anything else but there must have been something since not only he wakes up in a place he doesn't recognize but he is also wearing his armour.

It's not until he finds the hologram that he understands what has happened, and those sensible to Cosmo, ki or similar energies will most likely feel a huge burst of energy as Ikki's Cosmo rages. To his credit he doesn't damage anything in the area. But it takes everything he has to not do so. Kidnapped again, this time more blatantly and without made up excuses about there having been a call. It was bad the first time, but this time is even worse. Apparently he's not allowed to continue fighting to save Athena and Seiya, nor he's allowed to have a family and a "normal" life.

He makes his way out, with his Phoenix Cloth on and carrying its Pandora box on his back. He doesn't bother to try to use his Cosmo to reach anyone for he doubts that whoever is responsible of this would be so kind as to let him reunite with anyone he knows and cares about. It's not until he reaches the beach that a thought occurs to him which leads him to strip down his armour and shirt, so he can check his right shoulder and confirm that the tattoo that Ace made for him is still there. A red spade (from the cards) surrounded by two flaming wings, one blue, the other orange, and with what seems like a white crescent moon crossing over it, the only thing he has, aside from his memories, to remember his time in Nautilus. It brings some relief to his heart, but it does nothing to calm his temper, so he goes on to strech his joints and muscles, giving anyone watching the video a nice show without realizing it. It's not the coliseum he's used to, but the beach seems like a good enough place to do some improvised training.

It should help to release his anger.]

[He couldn't care less about "giving a show", as far as he's aware there's nothing in him to do that. He's just shirtless, that all.]

Another man in a costume?

[It's not a costume but that she would refer to it that way...]

Did the "costume" look like mine? Like an armour? Did the man have a dragon on his back?

[Wait, Shiryu's dragon only appeared when he flared his Cosmo so it shouldn't have shown unless he was fighting.]

Did he have long black hair?

Yeah. It was like yours, but all shiny and gold.

*Faye shakes her head at his question, an amused smile on her lips*

This guy was a tiger...

I think I'm okay. So far I'm recovering from my injuries.

[Seiya couldn't tell him of Hades' sword attack and it's effects on him, because he wasn't sure other than he feels like he's in a physically weakened state. For now, Athena's power that is coursing through his veins is what keeping him alive or so that's what he believes. In theory. If he told him he took the sword's blow to his chest directly in the heart, that would make Ikki worry.

Well. There he is. Seiya. Seiya, the boy Ikki knew and grew up with. Though during their harsh training which started in childhood until teenager, there was a missing gap of years, but they're together as comrades and as a family in the end. He stood there, lean and tall, and muscular, with his no sleeve tank red shirt, wearing a pair of jeans, and sneakers. Pretty much the same scruffy, rough looking young man who is battle harden with scars.

He allowed Ikki to stand there dumbfounded. After a moment of silence, very slowly, very carefully, Seiya reached out with his hand, though there's a slight tremor, and placed it on Ikki's shoulder.]

Hey. It's going to be all right. I'm here.

If it wasn't because it feels somehow so "right" I would think you're an enemy who has put a spell on me or something to enchant me.

[Because he has only felt such a strong and quick connection, the wish to know more to be with the other more, twice before, when Shun was born and when he got his Cloth. He frowns as the other takes a breath, he's smiling but somehow...]

Something isn't right. Your smile... What are you trying to hide?

[Is the other actually an enemy after all? No, it's something else, somehow Ikki really can't bring himself to think that Marco is an enemy for longer than half a second. Like when he couldn't think of killing Shun being the only option to stop Hades. And it's weird because Marco has already said so much, talking about another live where they met, another reality, that's the kind of stuff one would hide from others, isn't it? So what is that he's keeping?]

Sparky? You mean, Ace? Is that how you call him?

[Anyway he nods at the idea of getting drinks, if he can't destroy something... Maybe drinking will do.

As Marco goes on, Ikki tilts his head in curiosity, eyes sparkling when he hears that someone else, someone named Namur, will remember him as well. He doesn't know Namur, but he remembers the name, another brother of Ace, and he wants to meet them already. He's curious as to that life where he met them even if he also dreads it because it sounded like Leanne was with someone else in that one. Did Naesala make her happier?

He nods when Marco mentions the posibility of staying with him and his wife, not really aware of doing it until the words come out of his mouth.]

I want to stay with you.

[The moment he says it, though, he blushes because... It's just not right.]

No, I mean... Well, if you think it would be okay. But I don't want to be a bother, and if your wife doesn't know me or... I don't know you so maybe it wouldn't be a good idea? Not that I really mind. Staying or not I mean.

[How the hell does he dig himself out of this hole???!

Oh, back to phoenix. Phoenix is good. Saying things in phoenix, even when they are embarrashing doesn't bother him so much. Probably because only few people, Leanne and now Marco, really understand what he says.]

Well... How about you start with the tattoo? You said my tattoo was different, did I get one when I met you?

[It's silly but it makes him curious and he looks at his tattoo.]

I told Ace I wanted one. Something like his Whitebeard tattoo. Something that would say "brother", but I didn't know either of you or your father so I didn't want his tattoo. It felt too presumptuous. So I asked him to design something that would fit, or maybe just a symbol of being a Spade pirate since he was my captain too. Though we didn't really have a crew nor sailed around...

He came up with this, the Spade for himself, the blue wing for you because it screamed "phoenix" in his opinion alongside the orange wing for me. And the Whitebeard moustache... I still feel that may have a step too far but I liked it so...

Your injuries... Good, that's good.

[Part of him wants to scream when he hears that. Because he knows, he knows that Seiya took Hades' sword directly to his heart, he knows that the only reason he didn't instantly die was Athena's interference. That the only reason he's in a wheelchair in his time is precisely because of her Cosmo trying to fight it. Trying to keep him alive. And she's failing, which is why they make a gamble to go back in time and screw up the world by changing the past. Because as far as Ikki's concerned the world means absolutely nothing if it's going to require the life of one of his brothers.

He doesn't know if Seiya knows and hides it because he doesn't want to make Ikki worry, or get angrier... Or if he really doesn't know, in which case Ikki doesn't want to tell. Because he doesn't want to risk having Seiya saying that he's fine because he fulfilled his duty to protect Athena and would rather give up his life for her than anything else.

It still is quite harder than he thought when he finally is in front of him, looking just like always except with more scars. Meanwhile Ikki looks also the same, but with only one scar, the one that will never heal because he doesn't want it to heal. Part of the reason he freezes is fear that Seiya will notice, that he will see Ikki as older than he remembers, even though Ikki's sure he hasn't really changed much physically. When Seiya touches him he flinches before he forces a smug smirk on his face.]

You say that as if I was worried. It's going to take more than some strange kidnapping to unsettle me, Seiya.

[Nevermind that that's exactly what has happened. He looks at Seiya from head to toes once more, as if that would help somehow, before moving to take the hand placed on his shoulder. He wants to hug the other but... He has never allowed himself to be affectionate with anyone but Shun and in the last years after their training not even that. There was never time with the wars ongoing and Ikki dying or just leaving right at the end so that he wouldn't have to face his brothers, not after what he did to them after they claimed their cloths. Trying to kill them... Or to force them to kill him because he was a coward who didn't want to deal with anything.]

Are you sure you're alright? Athena's not here for you to have to act strong, you know.

[Well, the shiny and gold is enough for Ikki to know who she means.]

So Libra Dohko is here... He's the only guy I know who would have a tendency of stripping, because I'm sure that's where Shiryu got it from.

[A pause.]

Do you know how long ago that was?

*Faye just tilts her head at him because she obviously has no idea who he was talking about*

That was about a week ago now, I guess. You two good friends?

*Cause she is getting a very different vibe from this guy*

I don't really know him.

[Not the way he knows his brothers or other Gold Saints.]

He was the teacher of one of my brothers, Shiryu, as well as a comrade in the war, that's how I know him.

[If it was a week ago then chances are he still is around. Though Ikki knows that in those worlds it's hard to say, some people come and leave in a matter of seconds.]

... Have you been here for a long time?

Yeah... go figure.

*She can't quite imagine that this guy is much in the way of a gooď drinking buddy for Dohko*

A whole year...

*She states it simply, not even sure herself how she feels about that*

[Seiya won't give up on Athena, even if he did fulfilled his duty, Athena is more than just a goddess, she is his life. So his mission continues even long after he fulfilled his duty.]

Even if she's not here, no matter which world, I'm Athena's saint. I know in the future I'll go back to her side and protect her as always. I just have to figure out how to go back. I don't know how, but I think everything will work out. [He has no clue actually...] Call it a hunch, but I know I'll see her again.

[And anyway, he doesn't 'act' strong because for Athena. His strength comes from his cosmos and it is strong because he is naturally inclined to be devoted to her to protect her ideals of love and justice for all. He didn't think twice of giving his life for her. Athena is his life. He just doesn't meditate on it often as to what it means philosophically. Seiya is pure instinct. He believes in her, pure and simple.

Ikki is very warm to touch. Are phoenixs are always this hot-blooded? Then Seiya playfully thumped against his shoulder with a fist. Smiling brightly at him, since all is forgiven, and anyway...Seiya believes in him 100%.]

C'mon, you big lug, you just got here. Don't think about it. It makes my head hurt if I think too much. Do you wanna fight here? Or how about we go find a place to stay and grab a bite to eat?

[Actually he is, but never had the chance for it at his world. And after that he has only done it with his new family.]

A year.

[That's not much, not as much as he has heard from others in Nautilus. But he knows that for some even a single year may be much.]

And what is your opinion of this place? If you don't mind me asking.

*Faye just shrugs and reaches for her pack of cigarettes*

It's not bad. But I guess that depends on what you might have left behind. If you loved your life before, there's probably not much for you here. But if there was shit you wanted to get awag from, well, this place is a reasonable escape.

With our luck, and seeing how it seems this world is calling a gathering of us, she may end appearing here by next week. But you are right, it will work out. It always does when we fight together, doesn't it?

[It doesn't. Not in Ikki's opinion, not when the result is one of them being at the edge of death or dying -and it's not Ikki himself because if he's the one to die then all is fine. But he knows Seiya is optimistic and he's not in the mood to rain on his parade.

He's now realizing just how much he had missed the Pegasus Saint.]

Your head hurts if you think because you're an idiot. [Despite his words he doesn't mean it in a bad way, it's just a tease. Ikki himself isn't one to think... Or at least to admit to think as much as he does. He leaves that to Shiryu and the others.] Let's go grab something to eat and a stiff drink, I need one since I doubt I can release my anger here properly.

Like all worlds like this it seems. The hologram does a quite good job at explaining things, I guess this world is better organized than Nautilus.

[Doesn't really surprise him. In retrospect a world where people can bend reality by the strength of their will isn't one that will lead to people managing to organize themselves properly.]

But experience tells me there's always more than what the "newbie guide" says, probably to not traumatize the new arrivals. Would it be too much to ask you if you had any advice?

[He tenses instantly at the question, stomach knotting, and slowly shakes his head.]

[Not even Thatch was that good at reading him.]

I can't tell you until...

[Until he started razing the city? It wouldn't do much good then.]

[He shakes out his hair with his hand.] Food first.

And yeah, Sparky is Ace. And when things just... settle we can talk about the rest.

[The dark fires in Marco's eyes.]

[The phoenix anger and rage.]

[But he grins as Ikki starts being tsundere and just winds up tousling his hair instead.]

Don't worry about it, she'll understand, and I'll take care of everything.

[And a beam at the tattoo.]

It's perfect, yoi! I love it.

[And he shows off his own modified tattoo with a closed loop up top.] We changed it when I added Grell and Espio. Heartbreaking meeting that. Heh. But we all got Spades for Ace on another world. Well, not Grell, she was a separate captain there. And Thatch doesn't remember yet, but I didn't remember that world either for a very long time here.

[Ikki frowns at that and, blame Leanne, but he's going to coo at Marco in clear worry and upset.]

Until when? Until I gett settled here? Or until it's too late? Something worries you, beyond just your wife being kidnapped. I can tell that much... I think.

You said you needed me and pulled at everything you knew for me to come, I really doubt you're the type to do that unless you really need it. Unless you're desperate so...

[He coos again and expands his Cosmo towards Marco, to envelop the older phoenix in his own flames and energy to try to soothe him back. It's what Leanne would do and... It's what he wants to do.]

If I remembered you, if that world were we met was fresh in my mind, would you tell me? Or would you wait as well? Because if you would tell me, then, even if I'm not that Ikki, treat me like him. Because even without knowing you I can tell, something inside me is tugging and I haven't felt that for someone ever since Shun was born.

So just trust me. I won't fail you.

[He blushes even more when Marco says he shouldn't worry, that's like telling someone to not breathe! And he doesn't want to blush, to feel so open with this stranger but... He's not a stranger, his soul feels it so that's why he can't just put stops to everything. And it makes him get even redder and look away as if trying to shrink.]

Glad you approve of it. I love it as well.

We got Spades? So Ace was our captain? But you don't have a Spade now, do you?

[That worries Ikki, mostly because it means that even if he has the memories he could be missing the tattoo and he had got it so he wouldn't lose that!]

[Well, that's quite the unexpected show.]

[That makes him look at them, they are just normal abdominals, aren't they?]

Pretty much, though it's not the first time I'm thrown into a world that likes to bring people from other places.

At least in this one it doesn't seem anyone is trying to hide the fact that we were kidnapped.

[It's a small welcomed change.]

[GUH. Way to hit him in the feels!]

[He WOULD tell Ikki if he was remembered. Because he was scared. And so scared he even half mentioned it Dohko!]

[He's bright red and flustered. He wouldn't tell Robin, or anyone else. But Ikki wouldn't laugh or dismiss it.]

[It was stupid. He wasn't in danger of being Ares now, right?!]

[Except that...]

[It didn't go away that easily.]

No? It was a first time for me. How many world have you visited before?

No one is but also there's no one really in charge. Each city has it's own rules and Guardians, so it isn't lawless either.
