[Action] In Like a Lion~! [[CONCERT]] Nova City

Armata Strigoi
[March rolls in like a lion. A fitting theme to kick off this concert.
Augustine usual love for sophisticated elegance takes a backseat for black leather, silver studs, low cut blue jeans and black leather boots. Forget a shirt, no need for one. Augustine might as well show off his svelte physic a little here and pretend to be the glam rocker of his dreams.
It's all for fun anyway]
Here we are~! [The first verse of this rock song starts off with a bang. Augustine's voice is powerful and haunting over the mic, a definite "rock god" in the making. He can hold a note well.]
Stand up for God in the land of the fire
Bring on the madness~
[Cue in the blazing guitar riff.]
You're born to destroy...
[He eloquently emphasizes that "destroy" bit by singing breathily into the mic.]
Beyond the trail, of tartarean riders...
Armata strigoi~
[ His vanity might play a huge role as of why Augustine picked this song in particular to sing. He's a vampire after all. A dhampir, technically but a vampire nonetheless. Of course he's going to sing about his kind.]
Before the morning can break, we retire.
The searing heat of the sun we avoid
[He hums almost merrily as the guitars keep blazing away.]
Await the dark, proud Wallachian fighters
Armata strigoi~!
[The level of pride that Augustine conveys in his voice as he sings is respectable. He's all sensual and erotic on stage. Definitely engaged with keeping the crowd entertained as he prances along the stage.]
We are the stormbound the avatar!
We are the sons of God and Sorrow
We are the ones who see, no tomorrow
[He starts grinning at this next verse.] Suck up! Armata de strigoi~
[The rhythmic whine of the guitar has Augustine dancing in tune with the music. Despite the harshness of the screeching guitars and the thunderous boom of the drums, Augustine can't wipe the nearly feral grin off his face. There's a predatory harshness to his playful dancing that is truly borderline sinful. He's having too much fun leading this performance into the metaphorical depths of hell.
A light sheen of perspiration clings to his fair complexion as he continues to sing but he doesn't seem tired.]
We hail the cross and we kill
By the bible, for seven sins---
Are defined to deploy along the front
Of Moldavian strikers
Armata strigoi!
[It's then that Augustine actually howls into the mic as the guitars revv up again for an energetic finale. His howling encourages the audience to follow suit until it literally sounds like a thousand or so werewolves howling up at the moon. The chuckle that escapes Augustine waifs in between boyish and impish. Those ethereal red eyes glow brightly with unholy mirth as the song comes to a dramatic finish in a battling melody between guitars.]
----
Night
[The next song is going to be a head bashing paradise for anyone who likes to really cut loose and let their hair down. Thankfully, Augustine has a gorgeous mane for just that. This song starts like a sucker punch right to the jaw. The guitars are already revving up.
The Self-Proclaimed King of Hell is about to serenade you worthless chucks with another epic.]
What has come over me?
What madness taken hold of my heart? [He clutches his hand over his bare chest.] To run away, the only answer
Pulling me away
To run upon my sight
So now recovering
Sweet shadow taking hold of my mind
Another day has been devoured
Calling me away, bringing the question
Why?
[Augustine echos "Why" several times in a truly deep and haunting growl. The faint glint of his fangs adds that slightly mad flair he's going for in this performance.]
For saving me from all they've taken-- [He briefly rakes his fingers through his hair] Let my honor fall again!
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now!
[Guess who just kicked the damn microphone stand out the way. This badass over here. The damn thing was in his way!]
I'm about to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing...
In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior [Augustine takes a quick breath as he points to his bright red eyes.] In front of your eyes?
[He chuckles almost devilishly.]
Stare into the night!
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for the rest of your life?
[He tosses his head back and howls the next part.]
Give into the night!
[The entire auidence erupts with howls as the alleged King of Hell gives his final bow but not before stripping off his jacket. Augustine laughs as he tosses his leather jacket into the crowd with reckless adandoment revealing the ink upon his back.
There's a hint of satisfied glee upon his face as he strolls off the stage.
A job well done.]

[Krista's Opening (pending)]
Song One
((back))
[there is a bit of a pause after Krista leaves the stage and it goes dark. Perhaps too dark. It seems the silence goes on a bit longer than it should. Smoke begins to roll off the stage then and some lights at the foot begin to flicker on and off. Then a roar rolls through the arena--making the seats tremble.
After a while the lights at the back of the stage slowly begin to lift in a red orange light as this music plays
As the song ramps up, the lights flash bright, sillhoueting the Doctor as he stands center stage and plays, smoke rolling about his calves and ankles. He's wearing a leather jacket and his usual sunglasses.
As the song goes on he slowly starts to grin and then ends on a high note, raising the pick in the air and bowing as the crowd goes wild]
Thank you, Nova City! It seems I'm moving up in the world. Nice place you've got here. I think I'll stay. [more cheers and he laughs]
This show is going to be a little different from my last, for all those of you that came. Of course the difference between then and now are twofold.
First, we have a budget. Watch this.
[he snaps his fingers. On cue, two bursts of twin flame gout up from the foot of the stage, burning high before he swipes both hands out and they disappear leaving a cloud of glitter in their wake]
Second, we have technology. [a lifelike projected lion and lioness come from the smoke and sit beside him, the lion growling low-- tone filling the air and vibrating seats once more.] Seems the chairs are equipped with a rumble pack. If you hear me in your bones, don't be alarmed.
Just sick back and enjoy the ride. [he does a little riff on the guitar and grins at the laughter]
Last, but certainly not least. We've got a couple of new tunes. Not as much of a classic as what we opened with. But they do alright for themselves.
[he raises a finger]
Hit it!
[The first song is a little on point to the title: "In Like A Lion" which flickers on the screen before projecting out into the audience and exploding (albiet silently) like a firework. He sings throughout but goes a little rougher here and there.
Right from there, without preamble, he launches into the second song, throwing back his head and practically howling as he begins. Behind him the lights flash wildly and occasional bouts of glitter flame burst from the stage.
His grin widens then and he jumps down from the stage, narrowly missing being flambed and sings directly in front of the audience, clearly flirting with whomever catches his eye, regardless of gender or species but with a slight nod to age.
After the last verse he gets back up on the stage again to finish out his guitar solo with a flair. More pyrotechnichs shoot up and from the projection screen behind him a lion roars again.
He is clearly enjoying this and laughs as he digs a finger against his ear like it was too loud]
Rock and roll life. [he blows a handful of glitter from his palm and shakes his head]
By the way I don't endorse watching anyone from the window unless they know and approve of that kind of stalking. Love is about respect, attention to detail, and if you're lucky, a pair of handcuffs.
[a little exclamation riff at that and he lets the auidence soak it in before he continues]
Speaking of love and respect, I think it's time for a love song. Dont you? Yeah. I think it's just about right.
[projected glitter starts to fall like soft rain over the audience and on the screen behind him, a sweet animated segment about a pair of merlionesses begins to play as he sings. At the end of the song the merlionesses kiss and swim off into the dark sea and the screen goes black again]
The next bit is in tribute to a friend of mine, wiser than her years who has a long way still to go. Nothing is ever easy and many times, things are a lot more difficult than they need to be.
But, you know, I know she'll make it. And I know she'll be [he grins, dipping his head a bit] fantastic.
[and he sings Be Yourself with passion, though curiously shifting so while he's mostly still facing the audience, it might seem to some that he's glancing downstage right where his blonde bassist is. But it's probably just their imaginaton]
[in any case he lets the music linger a bit, the final notes vibrating into silence before he slips back in place and begins to play a little ditty for the fun of it]
This last number before I let a lovely young lady take over for a moment requires a little in the way of audience participation. I want to see you get up and move. Feel free to use the complimentary glowsticks left under your seat for just the occasion. Has everyone got one?
[some already have theirs out, quite a number actually. But others light up like neon stars. He waits until he sees a single bright gold one that is obviously more expensive than the others light up in the VIP box and grins.]
Excellent.
Now when I say: "Hell!" you say: "Yeah?"
Ready?
Hell! [he points the microphone at the audience that screams: Yeah!]
Hell! [Yeah!]
Tartarus! [there are a few scattered yeahs and uncomfortable laughter and someone shouts: that doesn't count! He laughs too]
Glad you were paying attention.
Now! Let's get this show on the road.
[and he proceeds to rock out. Near the end of the song the smoke rises up from the floor again, the pyrotechnics do their thing, glitter shoots up into the air, and when the stage is clear, he is gone. But now it is all clear for the intermission]
((back))
[Once he’s exited the stage and the music dies down, there are a few beats of silence before the next song starts, giving Dove plenty of time to ready herself to take the stage. Leave it to the angel to cool off a crowd of riled up, rock-induced hellions-
…or not.]
Love is like a bomb…bomb…bomb…. [echoes through the darkness of the venue, as the song starts up, an easy transition from the ending of the last performance but one that seems to generate just as much excitement.
Cue the drums, the guitar, and a new face. Dove strides in, putting those stilettos to work as she makes her way to center stage, a borderline wild look on her face the body language to match. She’s ready to give these folks a Very Good Time.]
Let’s sweeten things up a bit, shall we? [she teases over the mic just before the guitar picks up for the song’s actual start, eyes sparking bright gold at the roar of approval from the audience.
She fixes the audience with a show stopping smile and eyes that could make any man drop to his knees as she starts in.]
Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
[That voice is clear, and full of playful fire, as she lets the heavier strokes of the music control the way she moves. Her expressions toward the lyrics almost seem like a nod to mockery- as if she’s heard it all a thousand times from far too many men, and this is her way of throwing their words back at them.]
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah
[She’s far from innocent at this point, but every bit as inviting as she struts across the stage to pay the audience to the side a little more attention.]
So c'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up.
[If they don’t start moving at this point, she’ll be sorely disappointed, but from what she can see from the stage, there was never a reason to doubt.]
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet-
[There’s a pause in her moving back across the stage as she whips that hair to fix them all with another flirtatious grin over her shoulder. Girl can move, and it’s the perfect opportunity to show off the large, shimmering angel wings embroidered on that leather jacket of hers.]
From my head to my feet, yeah
[A kiss, more guitar, and she’s off to the other side of the stage to give them the same treatment.]
Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequine, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
Loosen up
You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah, yeah
Give a little more
[There. Back to the middle of the stage. She's extremely satisfied with the wave of energy rolling up to her from the crowd.]
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet, yeah
[At this point, she’s hands up, motioning for the audience to clap along with her, and once again, is far from disappointed. This time, the guitar gives her a second to catch her breath before she starts to take them to the end.]
You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
Cause I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet
Do you take sugar? one lump or two?
[Pyrotechnics, planned or not, here they come.]
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Pour some sugar on me
Yeah!
Sugar me!
[Two more beats and tosses of hair, and the lights come all the way down, giving the audience the chance to let loose and damn near lose their voices in the dark.
When the lights come back up, they cast her in much softer hues, and she's laughing, almost high from the adrenaline rush. This many excited people is a lot for an empath, and it takes her a second to come down enough to move them forward to the next song.]
-----Terrified------
Okay, but really… let’s take it down a few notches this time. Can’t have you all wrecking the venue during the break…right?
[Her voice, powerful it may be, is bright and inviting now, even as she laughs and winks out at them over the rolling reaction to taking her jacket off and tossing it backstage. It leaves her in a much more demure, but extremely attractive lace top and bare back. In some ways, she's already much more comfortable.]
[The song that starts up next is an almost startling contrast to the previous, though the energy seems to carry over just as smoothly as the notes she hums that carry them into it.]
You by the light
Is the greatest find
In the world full wrong
You're the thing that's right
Finally made it
Through the lonely
To the other side
[This one means a lot to her, and it's obvious in the emotion in her voice. She'll stay by the microphone stand for this one, but the way her hands fall delicately around it, it's almost like she's reaching out to caress the face of a lover.]
You said it again
My heart's in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
I'm at the edge
Of my emotions
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love
And I'm terrified
For the first time
In the last time
In my only life
[What a gorgeous smile, hm? One can absolutely hear it in the song.]
And this could be good
It's already better than that
And nothing's worse
Than knowing you're holding back
I could be all
That you needed
If you let me try
[The lights do most of the dance work now, casting shapes and glittering stars onto the stage and audience, though she can't help but dip and sway as she sings.]
You said it again
My heart's in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
I'm at the edge
Of my emotions
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love
And I'm terrified
For the first time
In the last time
In my only-
I only said it 'cause I mean it
I only mean 'cause it's true
So don't you doubt what I've been dreaming
[Her tone drops a little, almost to a coo]
'Cause it fills me up
And holds me close
Whenever I'm without you
[There's a pause, a little longer than necessary, but effective, given the crowd's cheers that make her decision far too easy. As the next few words fall from her lips in a full swing of emotion, there's a shimmer behind her, and her wings slowly appear, large, full, and blossoming radiant light that makes the audience roar.]
You said it again
My heart's in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love
And I'm terrified
For the first time
In the last time
In my only life
Life
Life
In my only life
[There's a brilliant smile across her face once more as she steps up and takes a little bow, blows the audience a kiss, then moves to leave the stage as the lights see her out.]
((back))
[there is a five minute intermission after Dove leaves... and then the screen flicks onto a blue sky and a song begins off stage before he wanders on it, still playing. He's changed into his more usual long black coat except the lining is a pale blue-white. He dances a little bit as he plays, turning in the smoke and basically showing off, then finishes with a flourish and grins]
Hello, friends. I'm back. Fear not and hey, have no worries. [he gestures] For those not in the know that is from the movie slash play slash interactive experience slash theme park The Lion King, which shares a lot in common with the Shakespeare play: King Henry IV Parts 1 &2.
It's rather fitting to our theme of the night, don't you think?
Anyway, it's time for an inspirational ballad. I feel like every concert needs at least one of those. Not only does it leave people feeling good and with a new sense of purpose-- ideally... It also can be used to sell coffee makers.
Economics are fun! [but sharp riff to say he's mostly teasing]
[he bows slightly and begins to sing. Regardless of his words, he sings passionately and clearly seems to believe what he's singing. The projected lions are back, but this time they are cubs, playing in the projected grass on the stage floor and chasing butterflies.
As the song ends they dart back stage and disappear. He seems to watch them go and smiles in their direction, which is also coincidentally where the bassist is. Then he turns back to the audience and makes finger guns in the general direction of the VIP box]
We're going to go a little somber now. Bring it down a little. Oh, but it's still a beautiful song. Sometimes you're lonely and you just need someone to hold onto. Even if they are wild as the wind.
[even if the song title is Wild Is the Wind he feels it's nevertheless true. There's no fancy illusions this time, same for occasional gusts of glitter swirling across the stage in artful spirals.
After that he flows right into Hopeless Wanderer, smiling a bit through it despite the words. Clouds float by on the screen behind him which drifts slowly into night. As the beat picks up, glittery meteors streak by.
The darkness progresses and then near the end of the song the sky begins to lighten until the last beat when the sun peaks over the horizon]
This next one is called, for reasons I have no idea why, Bela Legosi's birthday. For those who don't know he was an actor well known for his portrayal as the vampiric Dracula. Anyway this song goes out to all those finding their places, their spaces, and tasting this new world and all it has to offer. Don't worry, it'll be alright... Even though it may not feel that way.
[and he begins to play. Peering at the crowd over his sunglasses, hoping he can at least touch and/or recognize a particular face or two from all that. When the final chord died, he smiles]
We have an exciting denouement ahead, don't worry about that. One I am quite proud of. But to tide you over while I gargle a drink or two, let me play you out with something light and warm hearted. For those leaving ahead of time, I hope you have a good night! Thank you for coming! Buy a t-shirt if you like. If not, well, I hope you enjoyed anyway.
For those who know, help me sing along.
[And he goes over to said blonde bassist and sings with her
When the song ends, he bows to rampant cheering.
Bows again.
Then makes a double peace sign]
Be back in two minutes, babies!
((back))
[After about five minutes the light comes back on stage again, the screen in the background reveals a blue sky peeking through some fluted stone columns. Those who know might recognize Roman origin. There is also a broken pedestal, center stage, which is obviously meant to be a seat.
After a moment, the Doctor comes in through the mist, Dressed in a decidedly Romanesque fashion, sans sunglasses for now, and carrying a lyre.]
Well then, nice to see most of you still here. [he sits on the pedestal, the lyre in his lap]
For those of you who don't know, all this [gestures around] is shorthand symbolism for a civilization on Earth known as Rome. This was a very powerful empire on that planet, at least in its Hemisphere, and influenced much of the world around it.
For most of the people around here from that planet, it is also in the distant past.
But myself, being the wise and mysterious traveler that I am, have been there. More than once. And sat in the court of the Ceaser Nero. They say he was as mad as a bung beetle but honestly I consider that an insult. Bung beetles can be quite pleasant if you give them a chance and he-- well...
At any rate, after a story much too long to be relayed here, he demanded that I play my lyre for him. Now, my lyre playing skills are unique. I have such a delicate and sensitive touch that only those with keen hearing and superior music sense can understand. I told him so, and he demanded I play anyway.
So I did, and I will again tonight...
And it is up for you to decide whether Nero afterward felt like a lion among men... or just a little sheepish...
[he grins at his own very extended pun, and begins to play.]
[Afterwards he sits and waits]

Back Stage Shenanigans
After Party~!
Thank ya erreyone fer comin' ta my book! I mean my show! Was short notice and last minute but we rocked it!
Make sure ta get responsibly sottered and hae a hell o' a gea time, bahbies!
For the Doctor only
[He really does live for the attention this time around. He always liked showing off, but she can't help being amused, and thinking of the first Doctor she knew rolling his eyes at all of this with a big sigh.]
You are sooooo knackered!

Whist! I'm not anythin' o' the sort. Look I can touch my tongue ta my nose. Means I'm completely [and he says something in Gallifreyan that roughly translates to:able to put my pants on if you give me half a minute.
In any case give him a bit as he tries the tongue thing.]

[Rose has had NO drinks, and is uncharacteristically quiet, and observant. She's hanging back, watching the show, neither all antics, nor in the thick of it. But she's hardly disapproving either, just more like a wolf, watching from shadows.]
[Still, to anyone who knows her, this is unusual as Rose is usually the one drawing people into the thick of things and out of shadows herself.]
Re: After Party~!
[She's had her fair share of these sorts of things, most with the Doctor. Sarah is fairly relaxed and laughing, glaring playfully up at him for a moment before muttering 'idiot' with full fondness and taking a sip of...something that tasted like mango, blueberries and something she figured was vodka.]

[The alleged "rockstar" says while purposely trying to hide that bottle of vodka behind the 2 liter soda bottles. Honestly, Augustine thought that punch was bland as hell prior. Now everyone can enjoy this sugary concoction like cultured adults.]

No, I mean don't use that! Ruins it straight out! Try somethin'...else?
[She has no idea what else but be creative!]

[As soon as he mentions tequila, a sneeze catches him unaware. His fault for lacking a proper damn shirt tonight and for tossing his cool jacket into the ravenous audience pit. He's never going to see that leather biker jacket ever again. Serves him right.]
Ah, excuse me. I meant to say tequila might do.

Bless you. There's robes in the back you know.
[But tequila. How would that taste. She looks at her glass and sets it aside. Probably better than that.]
Alright, give it a shot. Can't be any worse at least.

Re: After Party~!
I didn't actually. When did you learn to play?
no subject
And'you? D'you play?
[Reaction][Opener]
When Augustine makes his debut, he understands why. Rather than cheering or singing along, Ted's howling. With laughter. And people say he looks clownish. It was such a bizarre and unexpected departure from the demure dhampyr he's come to know and mock that he's shaken with comedy. What on earth?
Eventually he stops long enough to actually absorb the lyrics, which are...theologically questionable, to say the least. It didn't seem like the most wholesome, edifying thing. Certainly nothing like the records his parents liked.
He'll just...yeah.]
