[well at some point he starts walking beside her, wearing sunglasses and eating an ice cream cone. It's a good day for it. He doesn't seem to be intending much other than keeping her company in companionable silence.

Did you know there exists such a thing as an edible museum?

[Mami noticed him a little bit after he started walking beside her. Most people ignored her while she walked, so she wasn't sure how to react. At least, until he asked his question.]

I didn't. How do they keep people from eating it all?

Well they didn't. Did I say is? I meant was. But it depends on what point you're coming at it from. Come at it the right way and it hasn't existed yet. Point is, bits of it are delicious. But never try the Mona Lisa. Not unless you don't mind not having any taste buds for a week.

[It took Mami a couple minutes to understand what he meant]

Depending on the point in time, right? You could come in before it existed, after it existed, or sometime when it did exist. Were you a time traveler or something where you came from? Or did studies bring you to that conclusion? [Both seemed like they could be likely considering what she's learned]

[She shook his hand with the one that wasn't holding her gem.]

Oh you're a smart one. [he means this sincerely and shakes her hand] I am a time traveler, as it happens. I am here too, actually. I'm just stuck in one direction.

I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing here just yet. I just got here, after all. But I protected people back home.

Well that's a weight. There's always someone to be protected. And the protecting never stops, it seems. Though it can be fun.

Maybe you can relax. After all there seem to be plenty here with the ability to protect.

That's true. I do love helping people though, so I don't mind. [Plus protecting people is a small price to pay to stay alive.]

[She laughed.] That sounds about right.

It hasn't really come up before so I haven't given it much thought, but I suppose I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to ride on one.

It's just around the corner if you want to give it a go. [because why walk when you can feel the wind?]

There's even a safe place to store your... [gestures at what it is she's holding] What is that anyway?

[whoops she hadn't come up for a reason for it. She sighed and gave up trying to find a believable excuse for it. He did let her know he was a timetraveler after all. It was fair.]

It's something called a soul gem. And I don't need a place to store it luckily.

[The gem glowed gold, before changing into a ring around her middle finger.]

Ooh interesting. A little isomorphic transmogrification or a very slight dimensional shift? [hmm] And what is it used for if you don't mind me asking?

You remember how I said I protected people? My gem gives me the power to do so. It also helps me track potential threats, which is what I was finishing up doing now.

[It was also her actual soul, but she doesn't know that.]

Ah well. Might as well have a holiday when you can get it, right? [he winks. The bike is just around the corner and he digs the helmet out of the seat well and hands it to her]

Now, where is your favorite kind of place to go? And would you like to get there fast?

It is, but I can't really complain. [Its a small price to pay for being alive still.]

[she laughed.] Yes, I guess you're right. [Oh goodness what kinds of places did she like to go? It's been awhile.] I have a fondness for cafes. delicious teas and sweets are wonderful to have don't you agree?

And yes, I would like to get there fast. [She was getting excited to ride on a motorcycle now.]

I know something right up your alley. [and he does, in fact.] On you get. [he'll help her on the bike if she needs it and then gets on, revving the motor]

Hope you're ready for a little ride.

[he waits until he's sure they're settled and off they go! Fast as he can make it while still being relatively safe. He's probably a bit more dangerous than he needs to be honestly but who cares so long as they're both having fun]

I can't wait.[She got on and off they went.]

[They really were moving fast! This had to be even faster than swinging on her ribbons! When life threatening danger is ever present in your life, a little more doesn't really register.]

Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet! Hang on tight!

[he's done this trick more than once and it's exciting every time. Making a sharp turn he heads toward the wall of a building. He presses a button and pops the bike, a bit more expertly than he used to and in a second they are speeding up the wall. Though he has to dodge the windows that he sort of forgot about even as he ends up breaking one]

Whoops. Pot hole.

[As soon as she saw the building, she clung tightly.]

What are you-! [And then the were on the side of the building. She glanced over her shoulder at the ground. There was a barely registered concern over the broken window, but she was mostly in awe.]

Oh my goodness! How are we going to get down though?

Oh I'm so glad you asked.

[he wiggles the fingers of one hand and when they pop over the lip of the roof, he leans forward and presses a button. Thanks to Nova City tech integrated into the bike anti-grav boosters activate from the bottom of the bike and flat wings flip out from either side and they are soaring through the air. Granted the thermals aren't that great here and they can only stay airbound so long because Nova City this isn't, but he heads for a likely looking roof they can at least park on and enjoy the view]

Nothing like a nice day on the bike.

[And now flying, can this bike get any cooler?]

Yes, this has been fun. It's definitely a nice distraction. The view is lovely too.

[But she felt guilty for taking the time to enjoy it. She should be doing her duty right now.]

This may seem like an odd question, but are there many isolated places around here? Or places where fights often brake out?

I hear Everglade can be dangerous. But what is it you plan to do?

Not really, woah! [She was seriously debating getting her magic ready in case they were about to crash.

I...I want to make sure the creatures I protect people against really aren't here before I take time to relax. It wouldn't do if someone got hurt because I decided to be lazy.

Those are the types of places they often show up. So it's important that I focus my efforts there.

What kind of creatures are they? I can keep an eye out for them too.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find them even if they are around. They hide inside labyrinths protected by barriers to keep people from seeing them. The only reason I can find them is that my gem glows when one is nearby.

But they feed off of negative emotions and cause a lot of people to die. It's pretty hard to describe them actually.

You'll probably know when you've seen one though.

Sounds like they have dimensional bubbles of their own. [though not a creature he's heard of]

Well, if it helps I haven't heard of anything like that happening. It's not a big place but word gets around if you keep your ear to the ground. [like he does]

But we can go for a quick jaunt if you like. Do a bit of patrolling.

[Mami nodded.]

That is a little reassuring...But yes, I would like to go patrolling. My gem should be able to pick up something if a witch is nearby.

Right. Everglade it is then. [he turns down a road to start making their way there] Let me know if you find anything.

[Sakura was on her way home, supposedly from school since she was in her uniform. As she was roller blading around, she noticed a older girl with a forlorn look on her face.

Sakura was probably staring at this point. She hated seeing people sad, even complete strangers. But she knew better than to stick her nose where it doesn't belong. She turns a corner into an alleyway, out of sight where she readied her wand and a card. The FLOWER card to be precise. Upon the call, a flower would appear and drift about in front of Mami to take.]

[The flower surprised Mami. She caught it gently, careful of both the flower and her gem. She looked around for a tree that it could've come from. Seeing none, she turned her attention back to the flower. Someone must have sent it to her. Maybe magic, maybe by letting it float down from somewhere high. She smiled lightly at it, before calling out.]

Thank you for the flower.

[Mission accomplished, it seems. Sometimes a small gesture like a flower is enough to turn around any mood. Hearing a grateful response puts Sakura in a good mood as well. And sometimes, it's a shame she has to keep hiding her magic.

Stowing the card away back into her school back, Sakura roller blades out of the alleyway onto the main road where she passed by Mami, but then slowed down a bit. Maybe some small talk won't hurt.]

Excuse me. I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to say I like your flower.

[Mami smiled at her. She wondered if she was the person who gave her the flower, but decided that was unlikely.]

Thank you, I just found it floating by. It's very pretty isn't it?

[Hey, she's trying to sound surprised. But the flower is pretty. Sakura didn't know what flower was summoned, only the Clow Card chooses.]

Even finding a flower like it can really brighten your day, doesn't it?

Yes. I have a particular fondness for flowers, so it really has made my day. [a soft laugh] It'll brighten up my room in the Commons too! Do you like flowers as well?

[Winry was one of the people to nearly have a near collision, but thankfully she was aware enough to move out of the way.]

I'm sorry. I suppose I am a bit focused. I may be trying a too hard to find something familiar here. I wonder if it's about time to give up on it though. [She wouldn't, but still]

You might not find things exact, but you might find a little thing that might be similar.

What I'm looking for, it isn't anything good. But if there is one around, it's important I find it, so I can get rid of it before it can hurt anyone.

However, I've been looking for about a week now, and haven't seen a hint of one, so perhaps there are none here.

I think if you haven't found it in any of the cities after that long, the chances are slim you will. Which might not be the best thing to say.
