From Home to Homeless - Action

Sunset was pretty sure she took a wrong turn when she returned to the human world.

Down one element of harmony, and her plans foiled by a trip into another world. She suppressed a scream of anger ~~echoed by the Satan guy down the way~~ as she sighed a little.

"Get it together Shimmer," grumbled Sunset, drawing her leather jacket around herself.

Step 1, get some money. This wouldn't last according to the hologram. Snooty looking girl ain't she? Secondly, find something, anything, to keep her from starving, and thirdly, she needed to figure out if this "Twilight Sparkle" on her contacts list really was the princess.

She loathed the thought of trying to avoid her, but this would be a good thing.

First, putting on her most innocent and scared expression, she sidled up to the nearest person. "Um, excuse me, I don't understand why I'm here. Can you help me? I dropped my money and now it's soaked and no good anymore."

Nailed it.

[Mami pulled out some money.]

It's not much, but I only got here recently too.

Thanks, it's appreciated. I'm just... really not sure what this place is, I mean I listened to the hologram but I'm really on my own.

[Sunset made a face as she turned her expression downcast.]

I've never been alone before...

Oh, bad luck, Sunset. Looks like you're coming face to face with the princess.

"Oh, gosh, sorry about that!" Twilight said. "I got some spare..."

Wait a second. That voice. That look.

"Sunset!" she proclaimed, happily. "When did you get here?! I-I mean, did you just get here? I'm guessing everything back home got settled alright, but...!"

Well, you can always come to me if you need anything, alright? I'm Mami Tomoe.

...Do you still have your pamphlet? There should be a key in there. I can show you where the free housing is.

"YOU."

She should have realized who she was sidling up to when she looked, and Sunset's scowl turned cruel. "So, you came to this world too, huh Princess? Looks like you're still down an Element of Harmony."

She clasped her hands behind her back smirking. "Looks like we're on even footing this time."

Y-yeah I do.

[Pulling out the pamphlet, she made a show of shivering a little before holding up the key.]

Okay got it. Lead the way.

[Free housing huh? Made it easier to get around and ditch if things got too tough.]

Dot. Dot. Dot.

"Sunset, are you feeling okay?" Twilight asked, flying up and laying a hoof on Sunset's forehead. "Oh, no, what if you were too late?! What if I was too late?!"

Sorry, Sunset, Twilight's totally thinking you got hit with the Memory Stone.

Okay, follow me.

[She lead the way to the Commons.]

Your room number should be on the key. But you can stay here for a month before they kick you out, so hopefully that'll give you time to figure out what to do.

"Feel okay? I'm better than okay. I'm in another world, full of tech and magic I can only dream of. I can find the power I need here, and you're not going to stop me."

She made a face. "Too late for what? Stopping me? Good luck with that."

She knocked Twilight's hoof from her forehead. "Stop it, I'm not crazy."

I've got some experience working, I could try that?

I don't know though, I'm used to a lot different things than this. I'm worried...

Twilight flew back, blinking as she flew back in confusion. "But, wha...? This doesn't make sense, unless..."

Twilight shook her head. "You're from the past. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I won already, Sunset, and I got you to stop acting this way!"

This time... she doesn't have magical lasers to hit her with. She's gonna hafta use the Starlight treatment - beating her upside the head with why Evil Is Dumb.

"No, you're lying," said Sunset, stepping back in surprise. "You couldn't have stopped me, I had it all planned out! How?"

"Stop acting how exactly? I've been like this for ages, you can't stop me that easily."

[Mami nodded.]

That's a good idea, don't worry. Everything will be okay. I've got your back.

T-thanks.

[Sunset offered a smile, it was weak but it showed uncertainty. Something she didn't have deep down.]

I'm Sunset Shimmer, and you?

"I'd tell you, but I am not letting time/space get ruined again. Believe me - it's not a toy you want to mess with, no matter how vindictive you are." Twilight said.

"I don't know how this world works, but I'll figure out someway to get you to see the Magic of Friendship!"

"What does that have to do with anything?" demanded Sunset hotly before snorting in reply.

"Bring it on Princess. There's nothing you can do to stop me."

[Mami smiled back]

I'm Mami Tomoe. It's really nice to meet you Sunset. Hopefully, you'll be able to settle in and make more friends quickly.

Yeah same here. I hope so too. Thanks. That's really kind of you.

[Friends huh? Fat chance. ~~until her redemption arc that is~~.]

Twilight's heart sank hearing Sunset. This was 100% villainous Sunset Shimmer, the Sunset who stole the Element of Magic and plotted to turn everyone at Canterlot High into her own personal army to invade Equestria. And with how Genessia worked, she was more than certain that she was try to do so again, but on a bigger scale.

"That's where you're wrong. I'll stop you again, count on it!"

"I'd like to see you try." Snorted Sunset. "You might have your magic here, but I can find my own way here."

If she was capable of feeling bad at this point in time, she would at Twilight's heartbroken expression.

"No... no, you won't." Twilight said, turning to fly off. She needs time to process this... and to warn everyone. Sunset is dangerous in this state. She needs help and she can't rely on the Elements of Harmony here.

Sunset snorted as she turned her back on the flying away Twilight. Deep deep down, she felt a little bad for her.

And yet, this was a new start in a world that would bend. She swore it.

"Stupid princess..." she grumbled as she went to con some more money out of a passerby.

"Miss Sunset?"

Probably the last thing the other was expecting was recognition, and yet that was exactly what she was going to get from the short girl she had approached. Her jaw dropped, disbelieving of who she was seeing before her before she looked the other over more closely.

"That is you, is it not? Please tell me the name 'Nautilus' is familiar to you, I must know!"

This had her heart pounding worse than when she realized Leanne remembered her, if her closer friends would start appearing with those memories...!

Sunset drew back in surprise. Out of everyone who might recognize her, she wasn't the person that Sunset expected. "How do you know me? What's Nautilus?" she demanded, folding her arms.

Realizing she wouldn't be able to keep up her facade around her, she made a face and shook her head. "I don't know who you're referring to? But there's only one me."

"You..."

She paused, silent as it became harder to breath. She didn't... Oh. Of course she didn't. Why would she have expected any different by now?

It was impossible to keep herself from wilting entirely, but Adela managed to release a low sigh before shaking her head, "It is a long tale, and one I fear you would not believe. The short of it is that you were a good friend to me in another world similar to this one, but I suppose that would not matter if you do not remember it."

A pause, and she decided to add, "But you are still Miss Sunset Shimmer. And... I would like to help, where I can. Do you still have your redbills with you? Perhaps we can see if something can be done for those, if they can be traded for new ones."
