[ACTION]
I. - Morning, Flash Bandits - (Closed to Twelfth Doctor)
[Some days, there was more to her shift tasks than merely sorting equipment and order forms. Like the days when she got to experiment with a few other tools of the trade.]
[That particular day, it was foam boards and reflectors. The latter, in particular, had captured her interest all the more when she realized it was a collapsible 5-in-1 model, with fabric covers allowing for everything from reducing contrast and softening the quality of light, to varying degrees of highlights, to warming effects.]
[Her current test model was her little Natu, who sat on a stool and occasionally chirped with glee at the attention he was receiving. Abra, meanwhile, was sleeping at the base, determined to follow Hikari as often as possible while still managing to get his daily 18 hours of rest. Even if it meant sleeping on the job. Natu seemed to chirp all the brighter each time a new type of light was shone on it, complete with the flashing lights and soft clicks of Hikari's camera.]
[Pulling away, she took a glimpse of her latest shot and smiled sheepishly.]
I guess it's a good thing I have the fast-action compatible model. You're just not going to sit still, are you?
Natu! Na Na! Tu!
II. - Afternoon, Moonbucks - (Closed to Takeru)
III. - Out & About, Genessia - (OPEN)

[As she approached the coffee shop, Hikari wondered if she should have felt more nervous. This was her first major booking, after all. A request for some promotional shots for the cafe, featuring one of their currently more popular employees.]
[...then again, as a smile threatened the corners of her lips...that was probably why she wasn't nervous. Because the subject she would be shooting was one very familiar to the viewfinder of her camera.]
[Shifting the weight of the numerous bags she'd been carrying, Hikari paused just long enough on the street corner to note the several teenaged girls who were gathering around the shop window. Something inside clearly had them excited, because they were whispering among one another, occasionally shielding their eyes from the outdoor glare as they continued braving the cool weather in favor of something just beyond the slightly reflective glass' surface.]
[Of course, once Hikari realized how many of those faces she recognized, she understood why they were there.]
[Still, that wasn't about to stop her from her assignment. In fact, it was with an increased amusement that she approached the main entrance, currently locked and with a "closed" sign on it--no doubt in order to prepare for that afternoon--and knocked loudly.]
[There were more whispers coming from the teen girls, including a few words here and there she even picked up. All of them curious as to who she was and what she was doing there....]

III. - Out & About, Genessia - (OPEN)
[For once, the fourteen-year-old was walking around the city without her usual camera bag. If only because she had a handful of others...as did her ever-faithful companion, Abra, who looked a little wobbly as it walked along beside her, carrying a bag of its own.]
...are you sure you're alright with that?
Abra!
[Hikari smiled warmly at Abra before pausing, moving to one side of the sidewalk so she could kneel down and peer in both their bags. Understanding what she meant to do, Abra held his out so she could get a better look at what was inside.]
Let's see...we should have enough Gaffer's Tape to last a while...I bought four different sizes of clothing pins...we didn't need any Cinefoil...and I got a few extra clamps just in case.
Do you think that's everything?
...are you sure you're alright with that?
Abra!

[takes a bite out of the donut and watches her carefully]

Do they not...have money in the world you're from?
[Maybe a strange concept to some, but Hikari was trying to remain open minded. Yes, even the digital world required currency...well, some places...but she also knew she and the other Chosen had been able to get by fairly well without any money on a number of their trips in the past.]
no subject
[he sips his own coffee then genntly switches their cups]
Might want to lay off the strong stuff.
no subject
[There were two things in that moment that drew her attention. The first was a claim of simply never using money...which, by itself, would have been worth commenting on. Except then the Professor was suddenly taking the coffee out of her hands, and only did she realize that hers were starting to shake a little.]
[Almost as if she'd had far more than two sips of typical coffee...]
...what...was in that cup?
no subject
Twenty-seven shots of espresso. [sip]
no subject
Twenty-seven?
[Not sure if impressed or concerned.]
Are you...going to be alright drinking that much?
[After all, her hand was shaking after two sips, and she was only 15.]
no subject
[he notices the trembling and just kind of hopes it's not a medical condition or it'll go away on its own. Though he might ask Rose if it keeps up]
no subject
[Of course, her first thought was either digimon or Guardian...but the chances that he was actually from the Digital World were so slim, she held her tongue. For now.]
I...guess?
[Was he going to shapeshift or evolve or something?]
no subject
Got it?
[after making sure she does, he sits back down. What she'll see is essentially an x-ray, which she can tell if looking at her own hands, the ghostly blue outline of fingers and the bones and some musculature underneath. If she looks at him, well, mostly human-- though an anatomist might find a head scratching thing or two. Of course, even a child would see the two hearts beating away on either side of his chest]
no subject
[...no, wait. That was just her heart beating faster from the caffeine. Never mind.]
[A pair of sunglasses appeared, and she allowed him to place them over her eyes, raising a just barely trembling hand to adjust them to a more comfortable position. She nodded at the subsequent instructions, waiting until he sat down before doing as he instructed and pressing with one finger.]
[The image that appeared caused her to jump slightly. In both surprise and amazement. An x-ray. A quick glimpse down proved that what she was seeing was real (enough), except...when she looked at the Professor, there was something...off. Her biology was fairly decent, she liked to think, but it took her removing the glasses twice, making sure she was looking in the right place, to be sure that what she was seeing wasn't some kind of trick of the eye.]
Your heart. Hearts.
There's...two of them?
[A question, and she pulled the glasses down just enough to peer up over them at him in question.]
no subject
no subject
And that's why...you can have so much caffeine. [Among other things, she was sure, but that had been the original conversation starter, and the only concrete specific she had.] You're not human...does that mean you come from a different planet? Or are you from Earth, but the humans in your version of earth are called something else?
[She held out the glasses for him to take back. The trembling was still there.]

I'm fine.
I've met non-humans before. Even before we were brought here. Although I don't...believe I've ever seen how many hearts they had before.
no subject
You'd be surprised. [but now he's curious] What kind of non-humans. What were they like? [interesting that it's 'non-humans' and not 'aliens']
no subject
It's...kind of a long story
no subject
no subject
No. I don't mind.
[Stories--let alone long stories--were not her area of strength. Hikari was one of the quieter Chosen, often with deliberate interjections at sporadic enough intervals that she could capture the group's attention. But only for a few seconds at a time. Not enough to adequately convey the depth of the last decade of her life's adventures.]
[Nevertheless...she took a breath, and began:]
My friends and I...we're from Earth. We're human. But we've been to other worlds before. The Digital World. And the--
[The Dark Ocean]
[A single rapid heartbeat's pause cut her off from speaking the words. It might have been part of the story, but it was not one she was ready to bring back. Not yet. Not so soon after...]
...and there were creatures that lived there. Digimon. Like--[She glanced back, where Natu was gently poking at Abra's slumbering form, only to receive a weary swat back each time.]--like the Pokemon. Only different. A little. In name, and the fact that they could talk. And so much more. But they weren't the only beings. There was also Homeostasis. And the Guardians. The ones who looked like humans and moved like humans and we would have thought were humans except we never saw how many hearts they had, and--
[...without pausing for breath, she placed a hand over her own heart. Only realizing then just how much she'd been talking. Not so much that a stranger might be overly concerned, but enough for someone who knew her well would have noticed. Coupled with the fact that...]
--and why is my heart beating so fast? It almost feels like it did on...
[On White Day]
[A thought which brought about a slight flush to her cheeks.]
no subject
He was about to tell her she'd be amazed at how many look human but aren't but is once again concerned...]
Must be the caffeine. Or maybe... [he gives her a little smirk] Remembering someone special?
no subject
...maybe a little of both.
[Considering he was also a fellow Chosen.]
[Rather than go into any more detail on that matter, however, Hikari took a moment to seat herself down. There was a small bottle of water just behind the desk she'd been drinking from earlier, and she reached for it to take a healthy sip. Then a few more. Just in case.]
[Once she had sufficiently re-hydrated herself, she held the bottle to her as she continued her story.]
Anyways. My point...I think...was that the Guardian beings of that world could have passed for human if we hadn't already known they weren't.
no subject
He pops off the lid to his coffee and ducks a donut into it] And when did you first enter it? And how?
no subject
The world appeared in the sky. So my friends and I used these special devices we were given to float up to it.

no subject
But I don't have it with me now. It's back at our apartment.
[She did usually keep in on her person, even when she knew it would do little good. Mostly out of habit. But one of her little friends seemed to be getting into the habit of playing with it lately, and so she'd stashed it in her dresser drawer until he found something else to capture his attention.]
no subject
[up to her of course. He sucks the icing off his fingers and downs the coffee before wiping his fingers on a napkin]
Anyway! If you're ready, I think it's about time for some photography. I'm ready to learn close ups Miss Hikari
